Can the Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2005 Dodge Sprinter Van be Easily Installed and is Spare Removed
Question:
I have the 158 wheelbase 2005 Sprinter. I see in the notes that I have to remove bumper braces to install this hitch? Can I do that myself or do I need a shop? I can do most anything and have installed a number of hitches on my past vehicles. Also, does the spare tire have to be removed/relocated? Thanks for your help

Expert Reply:
If your 2005 Dodge Sprinter Van with 158 inch wheel base has dual rear wheels and factory step bumper, you will need to remove the step bumper support brace on the passengers side only.
This installation can definitely be done by an individual, especially someone who has experience installing hitches.
You will not need to remove/relocate the spare tire for installation of the hitch.
You may want to consider the following items to complete your towing setup:
etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, item # 989900
Wiring, # C59496 without tow package, # 118381 with tow package
Hitch Lock, item # e98880
