This Fastway Silent adjustable ball mount provides solid, rattle-free towing performance. A stainless steel pin, operated by the included hex tool, extends out from the shank and tightens the ball mount in your receiver.

To further eliminate any movement, a bolt in the side of the ball platform tightens the connection between the platform and the adjustment shank. As a result, you'll enjoy a quiet, rattle-free towing experience.

The ball platform is connected to the adjustment shank by the hex bolt located in the front of the platform. To change the ball height, simply loosen both the bolt in the front and the bolt in the side of the platform with the included tool. This will release the ball platform and allow you to slide it up and down. Or, you can slide the platform off and reverse it to change the ball size.

Video Transcript for Fastway Solid-Tow Adjustable 2-Ball Mount Review

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the Fastway Adjustable Aluminum Ball Mount. Now it's gonna be able to adjust to different heights. That way if you have a bunch of different trailers, you can adjust it for each one. You can even squish it from a two and five sixteenths-inch ball to a two-inch ball. Let's check it out.

Today we're using it in a two-inch by two-inch hitch but there is a different version of this that also fits two and a half-inch hitches. Some things that set this apart from other adjustable ball mounts is this one's getting made out of aluminum, so it's really lightweight. It's gonna be easy to install or remove from your hitch. Another thing is it's got anti-rattle built into it. So a lot of times with these ball mounts you're gonna install it, (ball mount rattles) you're gonna have a little bit of shake and play in that hitch.

This, you can remove it, by turning this with the hex head tool that it comes with. It's gonna have a cylinder that comes up out of the shank, that pushes up into the hitch, which pushes down on the shank, tightening it all down. So I'm gonna show you after I get a couple more turns on this to make sure it's tight. Like that. Now, I shake it.

(vehicle bangs) It doesn't move as much. Using a similar method, that is how you adjust the ball too. So you can switch from the two inch to a two five sixteenths-inch using that hex head tool. Use the end that has the opening in the middle 'cause that's gonna fit these. So we'll go to the side.

Loosen it here first. Then up front. Now it's able to slide into whatever position you need to. You can even flip it around. Bring it all the way down here. Flip it. Slide it back on. Now you've switched the ball and then you just tighten it back up into place. Now make sure you do line it up with the hole, and you'll be able to tell that, because you'll be able to see the screw go in. You see, as I'm tightening it here, this is as far as it'll go. That means it's making contact with the shank. I don't have it lined up properly. So I just adjust it a little bit more to line it up, and that threads in. Adjust that's one first. We'll come here to the side. Now that we've flipped it around, this one, the safety lock is gonna be on this side. Tighten that up and see. There's no movement in the ball whatsoever. At first I was unsure about tightening it all down with the hex head tool. Just one more thing to remember. But after using it, I did really like it. It does take all that movement out of there, as you saw. It's easier than the pin and clip system sometimes. Sometimes those pins can get rusted. You're pulling the clip off there and not hitting your hands somewhere. It's kind of a pain. Or even just making sure you keep track of all the pins you need. Sometimes you need about three of 'em, just one in the hitch, two in the ball assembly. Moving those all around to adjust it. It was far easier just to use this tool, move this where I needed to, tighten it down, and tighten it down in the shank. I would recommend though, getting a hitch pin lock. Since you can't really lock these in place, sometimes you can replace those pins with locking hitch pins, but if they don't have this tool they're not gonna be able to mess with this anyway. I would just get a lock here. That way you've protected the whole assembly. Now with the ball on the lowest position, you're gonna be able to have a 10-inch drop. It's a little extreme for this vehicle. I don't think you're gonna need this, but if your truck was a little bit taller and you need that, you're able to go down 10 inches. Or if you put it in the rise position, you can go up 11. You just flip it around. Now this would be it at its highest position. The weight rating is gonna change depending on which ball you use. So if you use the two-inch ball, it's gonna have a gross tow weight rating of 8,000 pounds. Flip it around, and they're doing the two and five sixteenths, that's gonna be rated at 10,000 pounds. Now they both have a tongue weight rating of a thousand pounds. So keep that in mind, and also always check your hitch in your vehicle. Whatever's the lowest number, don't exceed that. It being made out of aluminum, eliminates any weld seams. You don't have to worry about those failing or cracking on you over time. Now this same assembly is gonna be all aluminum. The ball is gonna be a chrome-plated stainless steel. Compared to some of the other adjustable ball mounts, especially with the drop that this one has, I like the aluminum build. It's gonna be far lighter, easy to install or take out of the hitch, if I don't want it in there all the time. Throw in the back of the truck or in the garage. It's gonna be easy. Another thing I really like is the tool-based. At first I was kind of against it, but as I used it, I really like how it has the anti-rattle, how it takes all that shake and play out. So that means it's not gonna transfer from the trailer to the truck or the truck to the trailer. I can be confident that I'm hauling with this and there's not gonna be any rattling. As I showed you before, you can shake the whole truck back and forth with how tight this is in there. So I really like that part 'cause a lot of the ball mounts, you can't do much about that. The only thing I would say is make sure you get a locking hitch pin up here. That way, since you've invested in this, you can lock it up here and nobody can mess with this when you're not around. Well I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helps.

Flash Silent 2-Ball Mount w/ Chrome Balls - 2-1/2" Hitch - 10" Drop, 11" Rise - DTSTBM7025

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (243 Customer Reviews)

Self-contained locking pins in the hitch and shank eliminate rattle and deter theft. Go from a 10" drop to an 11" rise to swap between trailers. Tow up to 8,000 lbs with the 2" ball and up to 10,000 lbs with the 2-5/16" ball.

I am very impressed with the overall fit and finish of the ball mount. After tightening everything down per the instructions, the mount doesn’t move at all in the receiver and it maintains a true 90 degree vertical orientation in relation to the ground. I have towed both a boat and fully loaded utility trailer with it and have sensed no movement at all of the ball mount in the receiver and it’s as solid after towing as it was beforehand. My only recommendation would be to have the option of inserting a lockable hitch pin through the 2 ball mount instead of just the custom allen-type screw.

by:

The mount exceeded my expectations in fit, finish and ease of use. I especially like the anti-rattle mechanism built into the head of the mount. I went through and inspected all of the internal pieces/screws and applied anti-seize for insurance although it appeared that this might have already been done when assembled. Time will tell on the durability of the mount but from outward appearances that won’t be a problem. One suggestion would be to include or at least offer the option of ordering a second security key. I also ordered the etrailer hitch lock which is a lot better and is far easier to operate than any of my previous locks. I would definitely reorder both if I had to replace them.

by:

High quality, smart design. All aluminum (except the balls) which is even better.

by:

I haven't had a chance to use this much but so far it does what it says. No rattle - although that wasn't much of an issue for me - I needed the weight capacity, the drop and the 2 balls.

by:

Excellent shipping. etrailer had the best price anywhere. Just put the hitch on haven't tow with it yet. It is very stout/solid and looks even better.

by:

Great selection of trailering parts and items and the shipping was fast and free. I will definitely be shopping from etrailer again in the future.

by:

Product is great and so far works well. I would review again in a year to see how it goes. What is going to happen after a new england winter? I wish that I was able to read a review by someone that had this over a year or more.

Great. It doesnt look as nice anymore but works great and stays tight. I have been rear ended into the hitch and it destroyed the front of 2 cars. Its still straight!

by:

Very well made product. Will handle the load I need to pull and then some.

by:

3 days and we had it just in time for a trip. Works great!

I have ordered from them many of times. Always have what I need and is received quickly. Will order from them in the future for my towing needs.

3500 Ram 2.5" Receiver - the pin that is to rise up to reduce up-down chucking is not 100% inside of the receiver. I wonder if that will be an issue over time. Why NO side to side set screws to reduce that chucking? An improvement to the design would be to offer single balls or sets instead of having lower ball get damaged. And how long before the set-screw through the ball wears and chucking happens at that stress point? When I lose the special allen wrench is there a place to get a replacement for a few $ that's open at 11pm on a Sunday night? BUT it is bright and shinny out of the box - so there is that!

by:

Less than half the weight of similar steel products and just as strong. The anti-rattle feature is awesome, works great. The optional locking pin needed a 1/16" rubber washer to keep it from rattling. Overal VERY pleased! Highly recommended!

by:

Needing at least an 8" drop I ordered the 10" drop to be sure I had enough leeway for adjustment in case my vehicle was heavily loaded with gear. The anti-rattle feature is what really made me choose this hitch. I'll be towing a boat 7,000 miles this summer and did not want to hear any squeaks and eliminate anything that could contribute to trailer swaying. In order to be sure the anti-rattle pin would make contact with my receiver I inquired with both the manufacturer and etrailer. Fastway customer rep said the distance was 3-1/2" and Etrailer said it was 2". Needless to say when it arrived it measured 2" which is perfect for my 2016 Suburban. You may want to double check with etrailer on the 2" measurement before ordering in case the manufacturer has modified the design.
While the anti-rattle pin does eliminate up and down motion a little left to right movement remains. I may fabricate a narrow shim to eliminate all movement but at this time I do not think it will be necessary.
Since I am using this on what is almost the lowest height setting with the 2" ball the 2-5/8" ball is just 10 1/4" above the ground. The hitch balls are not removable from the sliding mount therefore you either have to be careful not to bottom out or for more clearance Fastway said I could cut the 2-5/8" ball off the mount. This would make the ground clearance 12-1/4" off the ground.
As others have stated it is a beautiful piece of hardware and looks really sharp. I will likely leave on on permanently with a BOLT trailer hitch receiver lock. (Be sure to order the correct one!). Leaving it permanently mounted has one benefit- I think drivers from behind will be more wary of stopping too close and rear ending you and if they do rear end you at a slow speed it will absorb a bit of the impact thereby minimizing damage to your vehicle. Thank you etrailer.com for such excellent service and I highly recommend them for your hitch needs.

by:

Excellent product. I installed on my 2014 Ram 1500 and the anti rattle pin was completely inside the receiver unlike what some of the other reviews show. There is absolutely no rattling. I believe the part number is diversitech, but this is in fact a fastway flash ballmount. As always, quick shipping from etrailer and the best price I've seen anywhere.

by:

Overall, not bad, but the anti-rattle stuff is of no value. After contacting seller about torque specs on the anti-rattle screw and getting no response, I just torqued it to what I thought safe. (It is aluminum after all) And then again, and again. Eventually it seized as expected and I now have it backed out with the intention of not using the anti-rattle screw again. Unfortunate as that is the main reason I bought this product. I still use it, but it jumps all over in the receiver. (2021 Toyota Tacoma SR5)

by:

Very solid hitch. I like all the adjustments and safety bolts. I can't believe they only included one of the special hex wrenches. If you install this thing and loose that hex wrench, then it is not coming off until you get another one. I went to their website looking to buy it from them, but they don't sell it. I finally found the right size on [online]. $XX bucks for one 5/16" tamper resistant hex wrench. It was p/n Eklind 90220 if you want to get one.

by:

This drop hitch is a true champion! I have a '09 Ford F-250 with 4.5" of suspension lift on 37" tires, and this hitch is more than adequate for all types of towing applications. I just got back from towing a 7500 pound load for 10+ hours. I was on bumpy roads, interstates, and in some sketchy situations, but not once did I have to worry about the hitch. And on top of that, it was QUIET!! I locked down the tension bolt for reducing the movement, and it never moved or made a sound after that. And it looks SICK! I would highly recommend this to anyone

by:

This is a solid well built aluminum ball mount but, on a 2015 dodge 2500 class 5 receiver the anti-rattle pin on the ball mount only catches 1/4 of the round pin in the receiver tube. The hole for the locking pin is close to the end of the tube of the receiver on the truck, so the ball mount sticks out in the receiver tube (in my opinion) too much for this to work as it was intended. Etrailer said it should work in there opinion but when you spend over 200 dollars for a ball mount it should work as intended and not "it SHOULD be fine?" Will be contacting Diversi-tech as well. etrailer is great a place to order from and quick shipment as well!

by:

First of all, it’s beautiful; fit and finish is as it should be for the price. No rust stainless hitch ball ends are great. I use this on a Chevy Silverado 1500 with the max tow package pulling a 24’ 5800 lb. boat on an aluminum trailer. It pretty much is one position so I can’t say how quick and easy it is to routinely change from one ball size to the other or hitch height, but I can tell you that it all works flawlessly. The only downside is that it’s heavy so storing it in a foldaway tool box in my truck bed is fine but it’s a load. In use it never rattles or shakes and it’s because of the clamping lock. But that can only be used in dropped position, which is how I use it. If you need a great multi ball unit that looks and works really well, this one is for you.

by:

Great looking adjustable hitch. I purchased the non-locking version because locks and similar mechanisms seem to have issues due to salt and ice here in MN. Not sure if the locking version would have issues, but I didn't want to take the chance. Hitch is easy to adjust, seems very strong, and looks great.

by:

the hitch does not slide up and down but talked to customer service they are sending replacement

by:

Unbelievably well built and functional. Easily the highest quality hitch I have owned or seen. My lifted Ram's hitch is 26" off the ground and the 8-10" drop is perfect for most boat/utility trailers.

by:

excellent product lightweight compared to steel, made from one piece no welds, and polished easy to maintain, great instructions to adjust for towing.

by:

Very well designed, well made and nice looking. However, the allen wrench provided only works with the ball height adjustment on the front of the ball mount. It does not fit the locking mechanism on the side, nor does it fit the "Solid Tow" mechanism on the top which limits the movement of the hitch inside the receiver. So I have to keep handy a separate allen wrench for those two adjustments. Also, the "Solid Tow" feature only locks the hitch from moving within the receiver top to bottom. It still leaves the hitch free to move in the receiver side to side. So the hitch is not completely immobilized and silent inside the receiver.
