The drawbar being hollow in the male end seemed to be too large in diameter to fit the female receiver on my car's fairly new hitch. I had to hammer the drawbar into the hitch. I doubt i will ever be able to remove this drawbar without destroying what it was hammered into. While drawbars with solid male ends easily slid in and out of my car's hitch. I'm not pleased.

Hmmm, it sounds like the powder coat on the ball mount may be too thick. We generally suggest to sand down the powder coating on the ball mount slightly. You will definitely need to recoat the powder coating paint with a rust-oleum type of paint to prevent future corrosion. I have a link below for your reference.

I ordered a Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch for my 2005 Toyota Avalon, a hitch ball, a drawbar with a 3 1/2" rise and the wiring kit necessary to connect my car to a 4 prong trailer connection. The tutorials were great and along with the instructions included made the installation fairly easy to install everything myself. The prices were the best I could find on all the items and everything shipped fairly quickly and arrived in good time. I use all of these products together weekly to pull my boat and enjoy various lakes that are available in my area. I would highly recommend this website and it's products and have ordered other items since my original purchase with satisfaction.

This is a hollow steel shaft with solid steel tongue for the ball. The steel is heavy gauge. Mine fit perfectly into my motorcycle trailer hitch receiver. I have bought trailer hitches from eTrailer in the past. As usual, this is another quality product at a fair price DELIVERED TO MY DOOR!

by:

Solidly built. For my application, 2014 Cruze, I should have gotten a longer one. This works but it puts my trailer tongue really close to the bumper.

by:

looks perfect.

by:

No problems so far. Fits the oddly shallow trailer (also purchased here) for my toyota corolla 2001. It interferes with the license plate to where I have to bend it to get things to fit, but it should still be workable.

Haven't used it yet. I bought it because of CURT's quality. It was beat up in shipping though.

For Mazda CX-3 owners, this is the drawbar you need to achieve the correct final hitchball height for small U-Haul cargo or motorcycle trailers. You know the receiver sits quite low so this gets the height just where it needs to be, especially when the trailer is properly weighted/loaded.

by:

This 13" drawbar keeps the tailgate off the trailer jack.
Being that long also keeps it I storage immediately after I disconnect the trailer.
No need for a locking pin.

by:

Be sure to test fit your rig before trip day. Had to increase the safety chain length with this new ball mount. Not a big deal, but glad I caught it early!

by:

I was in need of a hitch higher than the standard 3 or 4 inch riser and spoke with Samatha B, after a couple of emails she found a 5 inch riser for my 1 1/4" receiver. Just what I needed and a happy customer. Received very quick and good sturdy quality. Thanks again!

I am an infrequent trailer user, but getting my daughter home from college was necessary in March. This drawbar fits my hitch and utility trailer well, did exactly what it is supposed to do, and was the last thing to be concerned about right then. I have a '11 Mini Countryman S with a Class II receiver from Mini Fini, (which cost twice as much as a Curt) where the hole is flush with the fake grille near the bottom of the bumper cover, so I needed the long bar to reach out past the bumper. The Curt receiver for that car hangs visible underneath the bumper (ugly), which also increases the lever arm on the receiver beam and would have needed an even taller rise. (Curt take note!) All just part of the kit to create an occasional 1 ton pickup out of my Mini, leaving the "bed" at home most of the time.

3.5 stars. Product looks like it should perform as advertised, but it arrived with several chips in the paint. This is most likely due to improper surface preparation and cleaning before the powder coat was applied. As you can see in the photos, there is already some surface rust on some of the areas, including the hole for the hitch pin. Ultimately the paint will get scratched up from use, but it would be nice to see some extra attention to detail from the factory.

  • Is there a 1-1/4 Inch Ball Mount with 4 to 5 Inches of Drop
Ball mount # 36078 has a drop of 4-3/4 inches. This ball mount is designed for Class II hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. If you have a Class I hitch this ball mount may not fit depending on the brand of the hitch. For a Class I hitch we have several ball mounts that offer a 3-1/4 inch drop: # C45022, # C45026, and # C45027. Also keep in mind that the tongue weight of the trailer will pull down on the back of the vehicle some so that can help in keeping the trailer level.

  • Ball Mount Recommendation that is 4 inches Shorter than the Sportframe Ball Mount part # 3594
I believe the closest thing we have to the Sportframe Drawbar part # 3594 that you referenced that is 4 inches shorter would be the Curt Class I Drawbar # C45027. The length of this ball mount from the center of the hitch pin hole to the ball hole is 6-1/4 inches and it has a rise of 2-5/8 inches. Basically this ball mount is 4 inches shorter than the ball mount you referenced but its rise is about 1-1/2 inches lower.

  • What is the Difference Between a Class I and Class II Ball Mount
Class I Ball Mounts When towing with a Class I trailer hitch, the Class I ball mount that is recommended by the trailer hitch manufacturer should be used. All Class I trailer hitches are tested and rated with the specific ball mount for that hitch. Using a ball mount that is not recommended by the manufacturer will void the warranty. The features of a a Class I ball mount are: Has a 1-1/4 inch x 1-1/4 inch shank Class II ball mounts will not fit on Class I trailer hitches Held in place...

  • Correct Towing Products for a 2011 Honda Accord
The part 116813-56173-40001 can be broken down into a few different parts. The first 6 digits (116813) are the same as a Class I Curt trailer hitch and it will only fit a 2013 - 2017 Honda Accord. The next 5 digits, same as part # C56173, is a wiring harness that fits a 2013 - 2017 Honda Accord. And the last 5, same as part # C40001, is only a 1-7/8" hitch ball but it would fit the ball mount that comes with the trailer hitch mentioned above. If you have a Sedan or Coupe then the Curt...

  • Can the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer with SkyRise HD Tent Be Towed with a 1-1/4" Hitch
The Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer with SkyRise HD Tent # Y08129-3627 weighs approx. 310 lbs. and uses a 2" ball coupler. From what I can find on the Mazda CX-5 it has a tow rating of 2,000 lbs. and your hitch is likely around the same capacity. You will want to verify the tow capacity of your Mazda CX-5 in your owners manual and the capacity of the specific hitch you have. But more than likely this will work with your set-up because it is well under the limits I was able to locate. You...

  • Ball Mount and Ball Recommendations for Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2011 Dodge Caliber
I checked to see which hitch you ordered for your 2011 Dodge Caliber and it was Draw-Tite hitch # 24769. For Class I trailer hitches like this you are supposed to use the ball mount recommended by the hitch manufacturer. In this case it is # 3591 and the hitch instructions indicate it should be used in the rise position only (with the ball platform on top). A hitch pin with clip is included. If the trailer you will be towing takes a 1-7/8 inch ball you can use ball # 19256. And if it requires...
