The Trailer Box is great for A-frame-style trailers such as utility, camping or lawn-maintenance trailers. The shape of the box is designed to maximize the space on your trailer but also provides balance for better tracking and towing. The lift cylinder helps to raise and hold open the rigid, patented, foam-filled lid. The insulated chest lid opens to a full 90 degrees with the help of a super-duty lift cylinder, which raise the lid and hold it open as you load and unload your gear.

Video Transcript for UWS A-Frame Trailer Toolbox Review UWS04530

What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com Today we'll be checking out this UWS Aluminum Toolbox for A-frame Trailers. This one's gonna be a low profile. As you can see, it's not quite above the trailer. It sits a little bit lower, so if you're worried about any kinda visual intrusions from one that's a little bit higher, covering up anything in your trailer, this one's not gonna have that. Let's check it out. Just something to think about before you get your toolbox, is make sure you look at your trailer.

This is gonna be for A-frame trailers. So look about how much space you have, whether it's, how it's gonna mount, or if there's things in the way. Even your jack, if the jack was here, it'd be kind of in the way of this box a little bit. I saw it luckily, our jack is up here at the front, so it's out the way. It also is winded-up at the top.

Now this one's a little further away, but if it was any closer, you'd have to worry about that handle, hitting that toolbox. So if it was a side winder here, it'd be a little easier. There's a lot of different combinations for trailers so just make sure you check yours out. Make sure it's gonna work with this toolbox. Then it comes to installing it, that's gonna be different for each trailer as well.

You will have to get your own hardware to do that. So whether it's U-bolts on the sides here, or you mount it on every corner. As a toolbox, you will have to drill through it. Ours has a slot here in the center of our trailer. So we'll drill holes in the center and that's just gonna help us out, not having to drill into the trailer at all.

Looking at the lid, it's gonna be foam-filled and it has this bevel down here. So it's gonna cover up the lip, it doesn't just stop there. So that's nice that it has that, to where it's harder to get a tool up in the there to try and pry it open. And it also keeps the elements from getting in, coming up, and through into the main box. Opening it, to take a better look. You can kind of hear that it's not just hollow like the rest of the box, that's really loud. So the foam in there, that kinda acts like an insulation and helps it keep it shaped. So if you we're to set something kind of heavy on top you wouldn't have to worry about denting it or crushing it in as much, because it's gonna be there pushing out to kind of help keep it shape. It has gas-strut assisted opening. So it's really easy for it to just to pop-up and get into that box. You don't have to hold onto it or help the lid go up, and that will add 2" to the back. So make sure you have that wherever you keep this mounted, you don't want the lid to make contact with the trailer. On the inside of the toolbox, it's gonna have 2.9 cu ft of space, in there. So that's plenty for your tools. We have some elastic straps, a bag, and some other things in here. Our jack, just to help out just in case, with room spare. And it's nice, it just keeps it all nice in there, rather then sprawled out on the trailer, back here. Take a look how it latches. We've got the latch up here and the catch down here, so I can push down on the lid and really easy to open it. That works every time, I like that, super easy to do. And then it's also gotta lock with it. You can lock it up when you're not around. Turn the key and then it won't open. Looking at the outside, it's got the aluminum finish with the diamond-plate pattern on the outside. I think it makes it look nice. I think it's gonna be easier and hold-up better to scratches with just that texture on there, it looks nicer. The glossy one seemed like they scratch really easy and you can see it really easy. The diamond pattern's gonna cover that up a little bit. Now, if the low profile box isn't working for you, you have too much stuff, it's gonna fill to the brim. You need a little more space, this one's 13" tall. There's another one from UWS, that isn't low profile. So it's gonna sit up a little bit more. It's gonna be 21" tall, and same dimensions for the A-frame trailer, just a little more height, to fit the few more item in there, if you need it. Overall, I think the toolbox is a great addition to your trailer. As long as it fits on there, makes sure you go ahead and you know, all the things I said. Make sure the jack's not in the way, you've got plenty of space for it, but once it's on there I think it's a great addition just to keep all your tools up front, in the same space. Easier to find, not cluttering up the trailer, plus it just encourage you to keep it nice and neat in here. And you can lock it up, so you don't have to worry about anybody getting in your stuff, when you're not around. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

Every time I call with an order Karen is amazing! She is the friendliest and most helpful associate I've dealt with.

by:

Good quality and works great

by:

The overall construction, fit and finish is great. Thankyou

by:

Excellent quality! Fits perfectly on the A hitch of my travel trailer. Large enough to store two 20 gal propane tanks, a AGM battery, and still have room for all the tools I need for my travels.

by:

A year later and it still works and looks as good as the day it arrived and installed.

by:

Excellent -- box is great. Packaging was great -- I was worried about dents but its packaged very well and arrived in perfect condition. Operation of the lack and lock is very smooth. Some might nit pick the welds but it seems completely fine to me.

by:

Fits perfectly on the tongue of the trailer and stowes all the gear I Ned quick access to for loading and unloading

by:

This roomy aluminum box was a perfect fit for my aluminum trailer and I was able to mount it so that it's not only secure but almost theft proof. My only complaint is some of the hardware is ferrous metal, which will rust and is not compatable with aluminum. The trailer the box is mounted on also has this problem. Few manufacturers understand metal compatibility and don't design for corrosive coastal atmospheres.

by:

The product was better than I expected. Quality and condition after shipping was above average. I would return for additional products when the need arises.

by:

This storage box is outstanding. A little on the pricey side but well worth it for the size.

by:

The trailer box is a great addition to my car trailer. The finish looks great and serves its purpose. I bought it because of my experience with etrailer and that the box was manufactured in the U.S.A. I would buy the same box again.

by:

Ive had it a year & it lives in the sun, makes lots of deer lease trips, sandy mud & grim....excellent box. Sturdy, cleans easy, roomy, strong latch. Worth the money! I had a cheapo box before that didnt even last a year....coating wore off, rusted, & latch would pop open if u pulled hard. This one seals very well. I even lightly hit it w pressure washer & it has never leaked.

by:

It's performing as expected after a year, I'd recommend it.

by:

I have purchased two of these boxes and will buy another. The first arrived in perfect condition and still looks like new. The second arrived bent from shipping damage, but not bad enough to hassle with an exchange. Also, The foam trim under the lid fell out from the second box after a few weeks. I will request better packaging in the corners ofthe next order.
