If you're having trouble getting the key to fit completely inside the lock core of your Bulldog Hitch Lock like # BD580404 then there might be some corrosion/debris built up inside that just needs to be cleaned out. I recommend trying to spray some lubricant like WD40 inside the lock and letting it sit for a bit. You may want to repeat this process a few times while sliding the key in to try and lubricate the mechanism.
Hopefully this will clean out the lock so that it will work again.
If it's a brand new key it might also just require a bit more manipulation the first few times you use it.
