Secure Locking Mechanism

This coupler lock has a disc tumbler locking mechanism. Unlike locks that use vulnerable spring-loaded pins, this ultra-secure lock is bump-proof. The cylinder has a series of rotating discs that can be correctly lined up only when you turn the corresponding key. Two identical notched keys are included to operate the lock. Because these keys feature 1 of nearly a million possible key codes, it's extremely unlikely that another individual will have a key that can open this lock.

Video Transcript for AMPLock Rolled Lip Coupler Lock Review

What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out this amp lock coupler lock. Now it's going to be for a rolled lip coupler and works with both sides up to two or two and 5/16. What its going to do is slide over the front of your coupler and keep it locked up when you're not around that way nobody can mess with it. Let's check it out.

This is the rolled lip we're talking about. So sometimes it has a flat lip that comes out. This one's rolled. So it's up and elevated just a little bit. And that's what this was meant for, to slide right over.

You just push the cylinder underneath and now it's locked in place. Nobody can pull up here and put a ball or hook up to your trailer. So this in combination with this, make sure that nobody can hook up to it. Looking at the coupler a little closer, You can see as I move it around, it stays pretty close to that coupler. There's not much of a gap here on the sides or the front.

There's a little bit and we're going to test that out with a pry bar. Let's see if I can get it in the front. It looks like it will grab there just a little bit, but not much. You see, I can't really get down there. And probably not for very long.

It pops right back out. And then on the sides, it looks, like I can get a little bit more hold there, but that rolled up lip is really keeping me from getting under there and prying on the lock itself. Now we have it on a two inch coupler. The last one we had with the two and 5/16. So I just wanted to show you the size difference just in case you have this trailer instead. It's a lot like the other one. It's on there pretty tight. You can get a little bit more movement. It seems like there's a little more gap on the side. Let's get the pry bar and check that out. Let's see if I can pull that in there. But once again, it's pushing up against that rolled lip more than it is the lock. So it's not really prying that out. I can get a little bit in there. Let's look up front. It doesn't seem to be too much of a gap up front. I don't know if I can. Yeah, it gets in there just a little bit, but again, it's pushing up on that lip not so much the lock. Looking at the bottom of the coupler here. Just wanted to show you the cylinder lock. We've got the key inserted. Now there's gonna be a bunch of different key combinations. They say about a million. So chances are no one's gonna have the same key you will. You just put the key in there and turn it. The cylinder comes out. that lets you know it's unlocked. You can slide it off there. This on the inside is the cylinder, so when you push it up, it goes up into the coupler and kind of acts like a ball. And that's what locks into place. You also have this on the bottom so nobody can access that open spot. Just nice, it covers that up and locks it into place on the inside. The cylinder lock is very secure. It's going to be really difficult to drill into it or pick it. So it's just going to save you. I think people are just gonna walk up and look at it and go, I'll just mess with the next one that doesn't have a lock on it. Speaking of the construction of the lock, it's going to be made out of a cast iron. So, you know, it's going to hold up to those elements just fine. Not to worry about rust or corrosion. Also is going to be shock absorbing. So somebody wants to hit it with a hammer or something, it would absorb that shock and be less likely to break. Looking at the inside here, is going to work with a maximum width coupler size of four and three quarters inches. And also it's going to work with a max lip thickness of one inch. So just keep that in mind. When you're looking at this and looking at the trailer you're going to put it on, make sure it's in those parameters so it's gonna work. Overall I think it would be awesome and super helpful to have on your coupler. Kind of like I said before, two things is it's going to work really good in combination with a latch lock too. That way, when people are walking by, they see the latch lock, they see this lock here on the coupler and they go, I'm just going to go to the next one that doesn't have anything on it because that's going to be too difficult and noisy to even try and break off of there. Well, that does it. Thanks for hanging out. And I hope this helps..

I have a car hauler with 2 inch receiver rolled lip. This coupler lock has what I wanted. It should prevent the opportunitistic thief from taking trailer.its a solid lock . I leave a trailer off-site so it's just added insurance. It will take some grinding to get off. Key is heavy and solid so shouldn't break in lock. Happy with purchase.

I am impressed with the quality of the lock. The day we put it on in Buffalo, our sons bikes were stolen out of his garage. We were parked right in front of it. We were happy to have had it on.

by:

Nice lock for my Air Stream Bambi, just what I needed, between this lock and my new wheel chuck locks from Etrailer.com it should not get stolen again. thanks Etrailer for my new lock setup.!

by:

These locks are such heavy duty locks that when we lost the key to our first one, we had to hire a locksmith to get the lock off. It was no easy task even for him! Ordering a second lock was easy, customer service is excellent and shipping prompt. I highly recommend this lock if safety of your work vehicles are a priority for you!

Impressive lock. Well machined.
I was
disappointed I couldn’t engage ball with the hitch ball clamp assembly after the flange lock was installed.

by:

Good tight fit, tough construction, and a disk core. It has sat out in the elements it's whole life and the lock still spins like new. I did drop the ball portion with the key still in it and it bent the key. That's my fault though. I Like the lock.

by:

Trailer still where I parked it. This lock is doing its job.

Kate was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the trailer coupler lock that I needed. She was very efficient and helpful in placing the order and when the lock arrived it fits perfectly. It is on my trailer right now and is exactly what I needed thanks to Kate and her performance. Give her a big monetary raise and recognition before her peers.

This is the best trailer tung lock I have ever used. Heavy duty, well built, with a very unique key system that was well thought out. YES, I would highly recommend the AMP LOCK SYSTEM FOR YOUR TRAILER. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

by:

Heavy duty and very well made. No one's going to get it off!

by:

AMPLock coupler lock is fantastic. Used daily. Very well made, strong and def trust regularly to keep my trailer safe.

by:

Nice trailer lock, its expensive but if some one steals the boat it would be very in expensive then. :)

by:

This is a nice lock, but there is plenty of room between the lip of the lock and the body of the trailer coupler for a prybar to be used. The coupler does have quite a bit of 'play' when installed - probably because it is a universal lock and as such it is designed to accommodate the dimensional differences between coupler manufacturers. Overall, the quality is very nice, and I have some ideas regarding how to 'tighten' up the fit between the lock and the coupler via shims. The manufacturer should consider including some shims - which could be used to provide a better fit between the lock body and the coupler.

by:

Easy to use. Heavy duty. Seems very sec ure.

by:

The lock is heavy duty and great. But it DID NOT work on my 2022 Jayco Micro. The lock mechanism needs to be about ?” shorter to clear the lower lip of the trailer hitch. e trailer wanted a 20% restocking fee plus for me to pay for shipping since I was outside my return window. The trailer was in for service so I could not test it out before the return policy ended. So I am either going to sell it or try to modify it myself.I would not buy it again for my 2022 Jayco.

by:

This AMP Lock Trailer Coupler Lock might be expensive but you get what you pay for here I believe. I have purchased 3 of these based on what I believe to be a quality product.

by:

I had a friend recommend this to me a year ago. Excellent lock for securing my car hauler! I recommend this to anyone that needs a trailer lock.
