Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Randy: Hey, guys. It's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at one of CargoBuckle's heavy duty ratchet straps. This ratchet strap's gonna be ideal. It's got great length to it for strapping down just about any type of load you might want to on your trailer or on the back of your truck. You see the ratchet handle itself, it's pretty standard and straight-forward. It's nice a sturdy, not a whole lot of flex, and it's got a good, wide handle.
So, even with gloved hands you can get in there, get good grip on it to apply the force that you want. You'll notice they've got the yellow zinc finish completely coating it, so corrosion's not gonna be an issue for us at all. Anywhere in this first position up to about here is gonna be your ratchet position. That's where you'll apply any of the torque that you want. We move this all the way open by pulling on our release level. You see it's actually gonna release for us.
Bring it back to the ratchet position. You see, nice and easy, especially with that long handle to get plenty of torque applied. Now this is gonna have the flat hook system on each end. It works out really well for these flat-sided steel trailers. Something I like is there's a protective piece right here, so as we're pulling sideways on the strap, if it we're to pull just on the steel surface, it might cause it to fray a little bit. They put this nice high-polished piece here to make sure that's not gonna be an issue. The strap itself is gonna be two inches wide and it's really nice and thick, just what you'd expect out of a high-capacity strap like this.
It's gonna be printed on one side, not on the other. I like that 'cause then we can get this going into our ratchet the right way. If we eliminate any twist, it gives us good force down. Just helps our strap work out really, really well. Now with 27 feet in length, it's gonna go up and over just about any size item that we want to secure down. It's gonna offer the 3,333 pound safe working load limit.
That's a number you don't want to exceed when you're strapping down your items, and please keep in mind, we always recommend using at least two straps to strap anything down just to give you some backup. To get your ratchet installed, you'll want to bring the strap through the center barrel in the ratchet handle. You see, there's a slot there, you're just gonna pass that right through. Now you need to pull some slack out, we're gonna spin that, and go right back through that slot on the handle side. Now, as we pull on our tag end, that's gonna shorten the length of our strap. Really, with this one, you could get it as short as probably about 24-30 inches for your shorter, littler loads. But once we have most of that tension out, we'll get our hook in place, move it to the ratchet position, just start applying the torque.Alright, now at that point we're ready to tidy up our excess strap, throw a few more straps on, and we'll be ready to head down the road.
