Colin: Hey everyone, it's Colin here at e-trailer. Today we're going to take a quick look at and I'll show you how to install the Malone spare tire kit for the Microsport trailers. Now this tire is going to be a direct replacement for the trailer tires that come with your Malone Microsport trailer. It's always a good idea to have a spare tire because you just never what you can encounter out there on the road, and the last thing you want to do is have to unhook your trailer on the side of the road, and then leave your gear behind to go find a new tire for your trailer risking someone stealing your equipment.The kit is going to consist of the spare tire, then you're going to have a U-bolt with some threaded brackets which go around the threads of your U-bolt and that secures the tire to the frame of the trailer. Now the best spot to put your tire is going to be where the tongue of the trailer meets the rest of the frame. It just has the most surface area and most contact.
So it's going to be the most secure at that spot. We're just going to bring the U-bolts up from the bottom of the frame and then line it up with your two lug nut holes. Bring the U-bolt all the way up till it's making contact with the bottom of your frame.We'll grab one of our threaded brackets and just begin putting it on. And we're going to go all the way down until that bracket is making contact with the wheel right there. And then we'll grab the second one and do the same thing.
You want to make sure that the brackets line up, give your wheel a quick shake just to make sure that it's secure. Now you will notice that I lined up the holes at the tops of the brackets. That's so that we can actually put a padlock on there and make sure that our spare tire is secured to our trailer. It's going to be a great theft deterrent.Thank you all for watching. The parts for the trailer were sent quickly, and we’re exactly as advertised
I'm happy about the transaction. My wife will feel better knowing we have a spare on the trailer. It was a few days behind schedule getting here but everything arrived intact. It was installed in about 20 minutes. I don't feel it's mounted as snug as I'd like it because the U bolt is much wider than the bar it's mounted to but when some shifting it got fairly snug. I'm eventually going to find nuts to put under the included threaded angle brackets to get a more secure feel to it. You have to turn the threaded angle brackets a full revolution so they are next to each other for security. If it gets tight at half a turn, you have to back it off to be able to have the two brackets meet in the center. Fortunately, I haven't had to use it yet but we'll be more at ease in each trip knowing it's with us.
Perfect match to the wheels/ tires on the trailer. Your website, the ability to identify the exact product, the images of them, and the speedy delivery made getting the correct product installed on my trailer fast and easy. Because of that, I'm going to be ready to put the kayak trailer safely on the road.
I ordered my trailer from an outfitter along with a spare tire so it could be assembled for me as I had a serious arm injury I have been rehabbing all Winter in preparation of Spring paddling. The spare ordered was for a smaller Malone trailer and is too small.
I quickly log onto etrailer and get the correct spare tire quickly. Your knowledge of what would fit was greater than who supplied me with the trailer (which you also sell). I would have purchased the trailer from you as well, if somehow assembly of the trailer could be included (feel free to integrate local assemblers as a future suggestion).
The replacement spare is to the background in the pic of the trailer. The too small spare I received the assembled trailer is in the foreground and I have removed it and will explore how to get it to someone with the smaller Malone trailer.

Got to have flat insurance. Mounted a tad offset on the main frame of my Microsport XT. Still enough surface to be stable. Allowed me to get 50”+ between the cross bars. Hopefully I will never have to remove it. But it’s there if need be
Was able to order the item when it was not in stock. Trailer was sent directly from Malone but without a proper bill of sale. Now I'm getting the run around and have a trailer that can't be registered.
Spare tire mounted easily on tailer and can be locked. It matches the trailer tires.

Exactly as described
The Malone MicroSport can make traveling with 2 outbacks very manageable. It's great to be able to collapse the tongue and stand the trailer on end for garage storing. This galvanized trailer is well thought out, lightweight, and can be adapted for many hauling projects. For the investment a great tool in my box.
