This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an existing, old or broken air conditioner or add a new air conditioner to an area on your RV or camper that doesn't already have one. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. For your convenience, the included air distribution box has a built-in thermostat that lets you set the fan speed and temperature. It also operates the electric heat strip, which helps keep you warm on a cold morning. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Advent Air Air Distribution Box

The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The dial on the left controls the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. It also controls the 3 cool settings and the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Electric Heat Strip

Advent Air Electric Heat Strip

The electric heat strip keeps your RV warm on a cold or frosty morning. It is operated with the control dial on the air distribution box. After you turn the dial to the OPT. HEAT setting, the compressor will shut off, and the fan will blow air over the heater and into your RV. When the optimal temperature has been reached, turn the dial to a fan or cooling setting. Please also note that the heat strip only has one temperature setting and cannot be controlled by the thermostat.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 13,500 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

To install the heat strip, mount it to the evaporator inside the AC unit with the included mounting screws. The heat strip has easy, plug-and-play installation with the supplied 30" power cord. Please note that the heat strip should be installed before the air distribution box is installed.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

1st of all i what to mentioned that etrailer has great customer service. I received My new air conditioner kit by UPS. I installed it on a Tuesday And what camping on Saturday the temperature was 105° outside Add the air conditioner and keep my camper 70° all day inside. I will highly Recommend this product. My camper is 117' fiberglass Casita.
I had to use the old Gasket with the new gasket that the new air conditioner came with Because my camper roof was to thin.

by:

I used etrailer at least a half dozen times and I've always been way beyond impressed. Customer support is excellent, shipping is lightning fast and never had an issue if I had return a part. Will be ordering 3 more a/c units and vent fans for the RV. Instructional videos are a huge plus. They deserve 10 stars. Thx

by:

I honestly would have bought a better unit . It has trouble keeping up and the heat strip is boarder line useless . Probably a bad idea for me to leave a review.
Sorry for the negative news

by:

The system is working great. Easy to install. Etrailer was very helpful and had the best price.

by:

I'm planning on using my trailer as a workshop so heat and AC were important. This AC unit was easy to install into the existing 14x14 vent. Took me about an hour to install and everything went smoothly. My trailer is 28 ft long so I'm thinking that I'll be needing a 2nd unit at the far end. I'll decide that after I'm finished insulating the walls. I've already put in 2 inches of rigid foam on the roof and that alone made a huge difference.

AC works well but I recently upgraded this unit to the remote thermostat so that I would have more precise temperature control. Upgrading was easy just bought the part from etrailer and installed. I definitely do need a 2nd unit which I hope to do soon.

Jayco popup was factory prepped for ac,remove vent, easy install, unit cools and seems to be fairly quiet, great service from etrailer

the ac unit I installed in my popup has been working fine after 1 year, well pleased

by:

Perfect fit. I watched the etrailer install video prior and it was easy to do myself.

by:

Every purchase I have made with etrailer has been flawless. Quality products, competitive pricing and always arrived on time in excellent condition. I recommend them to everyone.

by:

Easy to install, works VERY well!

My
RV is cold again!

The heat strip is nice also.

by:

Awesome customer service provided by Daniel! Super fast shipping received in 2 days.

by:

Really like it. It works great both heat and air! We have had to use both. We definitely would buy another on, if ever needed.

by:

As with other orders, the generator showed up on time and in good shape. The etrailer videos were very clear as to remove the old AC and replace it with the new Advent unit. The etrailer videos also showed to install the capacitor, the heat strip, and the distribution box. We were worried about getting the unit on the roof of the camper however it really was not a problem ….. we leaned a ladder up against the camper, tied a rope around the box, then leaned the box against the ladder. One person got on the roof and pulled the rope while two more people pushed from below... no problems and in about a minute the box was on the roof. The unit is now installed and looks good …. no power at the storage yard so I can only assume that the unit works as it is supposed to (like ever thing else we have ever ordered from etrailer).
Good Job guys!

AC has worked flawlessly would recommend the AC unit and Etrailer

by:

I was able to install this unit in my cargo trailer. Works great

by:

Everything good so far.AC cools very well, Heat element works good to take the chill out of the room after running a few minutes.
Fairly easy install... Happy overall

by:

Works well, easy to install. Heat strip enough to take the chill out on cool days. I would purchase again.

by:

Great air conditioner for our pop-up. It was easy to install, cools quickly, and isn't too loud. Plus, great service from etrailer.com!

Top shelf sevice. Price Delivery Instruction videos
Couldn’t ask for more.

by:

Direct replacement, nice to have it as a complete unit rather than buying mutiple pieces. Getting ready for first trip.

by:

Installed on used short school bus, partially converted to an RV. The unit was relatively easy to install. It looks good and runs great, however I should have bought a larger unit. The interior of the bus is approximately 150 square feet so I thought 13500 btu would be more than adequate. While it does not quite keep up with this Louisiana heat, it is much better with it than without. The bus did not come with factory ac, so I installed a generator on the bus so I can run the unit while driving.

by:

Put it in my bedroom, really helps on those 90 degree plus days. Only thing I don’t like is when it’s on the fan runs all the time. May replace my aging main dometic unit in the near future

This is the 3rd summer of using this AC and its working well. Optional heater I installed helps take the chill out of the air in the spring and fall.

by:

Everything worked great. Install was easy replacing a vent on my trailer.
One problem was that the knob won’t stay put on the control. Never worked. It barely grips the post and falls off after the unit starts running for only a few minutes.
So far it hasn’t dropped into my coffee so that’s good.
Unit functions just fine though. I like the start capacitor as it can run on most lower amp services at campgrounds and in my driveway on a regular ext cord.

by:

I found exactly what I was looking for right away. The website was easy to use and had free shipping. The items arrived in a few days. I haven't had a chance to go through everything yet but I am extremely happy with etrailer.com. Thanks for the great service!

Great AC but it doesnt heat that well.

by:

Very fast delivery. The Advent air conditioner was pretty easy to install and worked fabulously when turned on. The videos for installation helped understand the process so the frustration level was very low.

by:

Installed to replace roof vent in cargo trailer. Easy install. Cools really nice and the heat option is nice too!

Not good did not know the difference when I purchased it. Heat strip. And heat pump. The heat strip barely puts out any heat. Not happy with it.

It is definitely not fun to be cold while camping. Like you said, heat strips put out a small amount of heat. They are only designed to knock the chill out of the air not heat a large area. A heat pump will pull in warm air from outside albeit a little better than a heat strip it does not do the job of an actual heater. If you need a heater, I recommend to use a propane heater like part # CAM57331 because an electric heater uses way too much energy. These are designed to be secondary heaters in your RV and actually work fairly well.

  • What Is The difference Between Ducted And Non Ducted AC Units
Thanks for asking about ducted and non ducted AC units. I have some information below. A ducted AC will not have an air distribution box. A non ducted AC unit will have one. It is the part of the unit that will connect to the inside ceiling and control the unit like a thermostat. You will need a NON ducted unit if you do not have a ducted system. **Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box, Start Capacitor, and Heat Strip - 13,500 Btu # ACM135CH. • AC Unit Solution for Cargo Trailer
You are correct in what the terms ducted and non-ducted means. You'd have a non-ducted trailer so for a unit like you are wanting the Advent Air Unit part # ACM135CH would be a really great option. It comes with a start capacitor, a lower vent assembly to distribute the air in the room like you are wanting and has a heat pump to help bring some warmth in if ever needed.

Advent Air Conditioners in my opinion are very comparable to the Coleman brand and hold up very well. I recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor Item # ACM135C for your 2003 Jayco. It is a complete AC unit with start capacitor and ceiling assembly. The start capacitor acts as a jump starter and is designed to store energy so your ac unit starts up and gets cold much faster while using less start up power.
