Desiring to improve the ability to cool the rig by adding a second AC installed using the bedroom vent opening configured as a stand-alone zone we choose the Furrion Chill HE kit. A secondary goal is to have an AC unit that can be utilized during BLM camping with our small inverter-generator to cool the bedroom. The FR85PV kit enables both goals and it is easy to install. I bench-tested the unit prior to mounting the AC unit on the rig. The Chill provides output air at 48.6 degrees F while drawing 9.1 amps in the run state. Inrush current was 44.5 amps. I had concern for the thermostat placement to prevent AC output air fooling the thermostat in a small room. I learned that the thermostat is a control point and not a temperature sensing point. The temperature displayed on the thermostat is acquired by a sensor in the return air duct opening.

I suggest two points of emphasis while installing the kit. First, take your time installing the two-piece divider that separates the cold air out chamber from the return air chamber. Ensure you have a good seal between the two chambers. Second emphasis involves the room temperature sensor in the air return chamber. The sensor is a short lead wire – I bent my lead in an L shape and pointed the sensor upwards into the room air return duct and away from the unit’s wire bundle to achieve the best sensing location.

I had Cornerstone Rv Repair located in Porter TX come out and install this for me. They were impressed with it and complimented it's ease of installation. Will need to see how it holds up against summer sun and heat here in southeast Texas. Looks very good on top of my trailer.

by:

It was so good to get all the parts to install this air conditioner, in one order. We had ordered from Camping World and had to order each part separately, this ended up with the parts arriving at different times and we had to wait on the thermostat for a couples of weeks. It was so easy withe etrailer and when they told us that it was on back order and the order would be in in a week and it was, and now it is setting on my from porch. My sister and her husband is needing an air conditioner for their camper and I am going to recommend she contact etrailer.

makes to much noise have to turn it off at night so we can sleep

by:

Ordered the AC from her based on the shipping date and that their website said it would be delivered by Tuesday 5/16 when I placed the order. The item shipped and the same day for h to e most part but then the date randomly changed from Tuesday to Friday. Very different dates. There was no delay on the UPS side, the e-trailer website and staff just use wrong dates to get the sale. Had to have someone go to the house twice to pickup the item and move inside since they also shipped some parts via USPS.

by:

Easy to install except getting up on the trailer. Your install video has very helpful. Install manual talks of switches to set, but my controller had no switches

by:

I was really surprised but installation was easy. Start to finish took three and a half hours including the removal of the old unit. This replaced a Dometic Penguin ii.

  • Recommendation for RV Air Conditioner System
Available AC units are rated between 13,000 BTU and 15,500 BTU with minimal cost between. From your description I am seeing a single open floor place, you will want a complete setup with distribution box. For this I suggest at minimum the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 13,500 Btu - White # FR52PR. This fits roofs 3-1/2" to 6" thick and will require an opening size of 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" wide. Successful cooling of your trailer is relative to multiple factors...

  • Recommended Upgraded Furrion AC System That Has A Better Air Distribution Box
I recommend upgrading your Furrion Chill system with either the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR85PV which is a 13.5K BTU system, or Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR65PV which a 15K BTU system. Both of these systems come with the upgraded air distribution box # FACT12LA-PS which has 2 slotted registers to provide maximum airflow, 7 different color settings, and EVA foam to add a seal between the RV and ceiling to prevent leaks.

  • Recommended RV Air Conditioning System For A Pop-Up Trailer
Out of the brands we carry Furrion is the best option for RV air conditioning systems. The Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 13,500 Btu - White # FR52PR you were looking at would be a great option for your pop-up trailer since the thermostat is built right into the air distribution box. You can go with a system that has a wall thermostat, like the # FR85PV, but you would need to run the wire between the thermostat and condenser unit through the supports for your trailer's...

  • Replacement For A Dometic Duo-Therm 3104998 Controller
If you're replacing the controller for your air conditioner system then you'd have to replace the whole distribution box as well because they wouldn't all mount the same and no two brands have been tested to fit together yet. The last time we talk I had recommended swapping out your old roof unit with the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner Unit # FR26PR so you would have the following two options for replacing the controller and air distribution box: Option 1: The Replacement...

  • Replacement for Dometic AC in 2012 Forest River V-Cross Classic
You're on the right track with the # FR85PV but you don't need to pay for all of those parts. Assuming you want to stick with a 13,500 Btu unit all you need is the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner # FR82PV. This will plug directly into your Dometic setup so you can use your existing thermostat. If you want to add some additional cooling power the 15,000 Btu # FR42PV is also available.

  • Replacement Air Conditioner Recommendation for a Dometic 57915.731 Air Conditioner
I have a great choice for you. While we do not carry the Dometic line of A/C's and I had a hard time finding the specifics of your 57915.731, we do have A/C's that will work to replace a Dometic A/C. There are two different routes that you can take here for replacement. A complete replacement (inside and rooftop components) or rooftop unit only (works with the inside components already in place from your Dometic). I recommend the Furrion Chill A/C. I like these because they are some of...

  • Are Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner Thermostats All Wired
A wireless thermostat would be a nice feature for install, but the Furrion Chill HE air conditioners all have wired thermostats. That's the norm for RV air conditioners, so if you're okay with that, the Chill HE are a superb choice. These ACs have a built-in start capacitor which means it stores energy so the AC will always be able to power up when need be, and will work whether you have ducts or no ducts in your RV. You can choose from 13,500 Btu or 15,000 Btu, and Black or White in...

  • Does 13,500 Btu Furrion Chill HE Air Conditioner System Come with Thermostat
The Furrion Chill HE Air Conditioner System # FR85PV comes with a control unit that doubles as a thermostat with a range from 60 F to 86 F. This installs on the wall and is essentially the same thing that you would have in your home to help control the climate. Attached is a review video for you to check out!

  • Air Conditioner Recommendation for a Vintage Avion Truck Bed Camper
We do have an AC unit that fits the bill for you Charles! The Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System, Black # FR75PV or White # FR85PV, has the lower 13,500 Btu rating and comes with a thermostat so the cold air won't be as powerful as the 15,000 Btu units and the thermostat will shut it off once the desired temperature is reached. This doesn't come with a heat strip but you can add one with part # FR35SR so you get the heat feature as well!

  • Compatibility of Furrion AC Unit with Airstream Furnace
The Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - LED - White # FR85PV will work the same way as your current Carrier AC unit. The furnace being a separate unit will operate as it was designed with its separate thermostat and the AC unit will function with its separate thermostat. It is rare you'd be using both at the same time, but if you did the separate units would be competing based on their individual thermostats. I personally would want the separate thermostats,...

  • Recommended Replacement AC Unit for 13.5K Dometic AC
When we did our testing we found the Furrion AC units to be the quietest. This is available in Black # FR25PR or White # FR52PR if you want the controls on the unit. If you want a wall thermostat, then you need a whole Furrion setup which can be found in White as part # FR85PV. For a direct replacement that matches up with the 6-pin wiring of your Dometic AC unit we have the Advent Air AC with the Start Capacitor. This comes in Black # ACDOM135B or White # ACDOM135 as well. The Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR85PV can replace your Coleman unit, but most Coleman's have a 9-pin connector so you'll need to pick up an adapter # ACCOLKIT in order to plug your new wire harness into the old controller. • E5 Error For An Atwood 1361 RV Air Conditioner System
An E5 error for an Atwood 1361 AC unit would indicate a compressor overload. Most likely the start capacitor for your fan is shot and needs to be replaced and without the fan blowing your compressor is cooling air and having nothing to force it down so it's probably freezing up the coils, which is making the compressor work even harder. There are replacement fan start capacitors on the market but we don't currently offer them and there are certain parameters listed on them that we'd need...
