Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Valterra electric cable hatch for RVs. This is for use with RV electrical cables up to 50 amps. It includes the installation putty tape and the hardware. The screw heads are actually painted to match the color of the hatch, even though the mount locations are going to be hidden by the main hatch door. The unit is lockable with the included lock and key system that's going to come with two keys. It's also going to come with a thumb latch that can replace the lock, if desired.
The hatch door does feature the slide window for door closure while hooked up that allows the cable to feed through. In order to get that to open, you just open the main door, lift up, rotate it our of the way. Taking a look at some of the dimensions. Overall dimension, going this way, that's going to give us a measurement of about 7 and 5/8 of an inch. Going this direction, we're looking at about 6 and 1/2 inches. Then, the overall depth from very back to very front, we're looking at a measurement of about 1 and 7/8 of an inch deep.
From the mounting phalange, right here, to the front of the unit, that's going to have a depth of about 7/16 of an inch, so just shy of a half inch. The lip is going to have a length or depth measurement of an inch and a half. This does require a cut out. That cut out is going to need to measure about 5 and 7/8 of an inch by 4 and 3/4 of an inch. The small opening for the cable to pass through is going to measure an inch and a quarter wide by and inch and a half tall. That's from this lip to the very top right here. The unit is made from a durable plastic construction.

I installed it in an enclosed trailer. This little hatch is exactly what I needed. It enables me to route audio cables into my enclosed trailer and connect my audio equipment, yet still be able to shut and lock the trailer doors during inclimate weather, and keep unwanted visitors out. It's made of durable plastic, comes with hardware and seal-putty for the installation. The packaging it came in made the perfect template for the needed cut-out. Took roughly 30 minutes from start to finish to install it.
Fits the description well. I was concerned that it would be a very thin, light duty door, and it turned out to be just that. Not problematic, and I knew I was paying less for this one than others, but that is my only gripe about this cable hatch.
Also: be aware there is no bezel/trim piece for the inside. I hadn't even considered needing one until I installed the hatch and had a semi crude hole inside
Perfect fit replacement for the power cord...fit like a glove a d even came with weather seal!
We had an older fifth wheel and when we had to replace the plug the existing hole was too small. We bought this item ,used the packaging as a template ,cut a bigger square opening and voila this slid right in and solved the problem. Also Tammie was incredibly helpful with this and other items.

A little on the flimsy side. Screw holes were in a different location from my original so I just swapped out the door which was the only part that needed replaced
it fit perfect. I needed it to cover where I had removed my campers heater. In order for it to fit onto my camper heater needed to be removed.
arrived fine- install was good- not too fancy but does the job to hide the water inlet/vent- lock is nice feature.
Fit 1998 Coachmen Catalina Sport motorhome perfectly, even the mounting screw pattern. Supplied weather seal putty was not long enough.
As I have said in the past etrailer has great customer service. Product is always right and the videos are great for the do it yourselfers.
