How to Properly Measure for Cut-Out Dimension
There are two main dimensions you need to know when choosing a replacement access door or adding a new one to your RV:
Cut-Out Diameter
The cut-out diameter is the width of the circle needed to ensure the access door mounts flush to the wall of your RV.
Mounting Depth
The mounting depth is the depth needed behind the mounting surface for the access door's hatch to properly fit.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Valterra electric cable hatch for RV's. This is for use with RV electrical cables up to 50 amps. It does come with the installation putty tape, and the necessary hardware. Now the screw heads are painted to match the color of the hatch, so it gives it a really nice clean overall finished appearance. The hatch door is able to swing open for easy access. Really nice design, snaps in the shut position. Very secure. Then it's got the sliding door right here that allows the cable to pass through with the main hatch door closed. With that closed, it's also going to keep unwanted items out of the stored area when the cable isn't being used. Take a look at the overall diameter, measuring edge to edge, we're looking at about five and one eighth of an inch.
Overall depth is going to be about two and five eighths of an inch deep, very front to very back. Diameter here is just under three and a half inches, so it does require a cut-out for the installation, and the cut-out diameter needs to be around three and a half inches. You can see that the unit's black in color. It's made from a strong and durable plastic construction. When it comes to the mount hole separation, there's going to be three mount holes on the unit. Going center on center, they are going to be separated by looks to be about three and seven eighths of an inch.
That's going to be the same for each hole separation, again, center on center. This small hole right here has an up and down measurement of about one inch. That's the opening. Side to side it's going to be about one inch as well, and then the large hole has a diameter of three and one quarter inches, and then that's going to have a depth of around two and three eighths of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Valterra electric cable hatch for RV's.

The Valterra Electrical Cable Hatch was the best of the multi-item order!
It had the putty with it, and the screws, and it fit with the existing screw holes. Having the putty with it, sure made the installation easier. The black looks nicer than the old white, crumbly one that it replaced.
The only thing that would have made it better would be square head screws, instead of phillips.

The inner flap fingers which the cord passes through have broken off. I guess they were made a little thinner than the original cable hatch.
