You're headed to the next campsite, and in the chaos of packing up, you forgot to turn off your propane system. While on the road, someone rear ends you, causing a propane line to come loose, and you now run the risk of a fire breaking out on your RV. It's a dreaded situation that no one wants to suffer through.
Unlike EFVs and other built-in limiters that just reduce the flow of gas, GasStop shut-off safety valve immediately and completely shuts off your gas supply when it detects either a major leak in your propane system or major failure of your regulator. This protects both your family and your travel trailer or fifth wheel, ensuring that your camping trip remains safe, fun, and worry-free. And while this safety valve will shut off for major leaks such as a large break in the hose, it won't shut off for small leaks that result from your regulator's small housing failure or clogged chambers. This means that your furnace or heater won't go out in the middle of the night while camping in the frigid mountains over a small, less dangerous leak.
If your propane setup is in a particularly small or cramped compartment, the 90-degree ACME connection on this GasGear rubber hose makes it quick and easy to hook up to your tank. This helps prevent the hose from bunching and puts less strain on it, which means it'll last longer. And you can put a cover over your propane tank without the hose snagging the fabric or stop it from fitting over the tank altogether.
The integrated pressure gauge provides a clear and easy way to tell what your propane tanks gas pressure is while the gas is being used. If it's on "high", there's been an increase in gas pressure, most likely due to excessive heat, and you'll have to cool the tank down. If it's on "gas", then you'll know you still have plenty of usable gas left. And if it's on "low", then it's time to switch out your tanks. The gauge is also rotatable, so it can be used from any angle, though it is recommended to keep it no lower than 45 degrees from the sky.
The gauge can also be used to test for minor leaks. Once the GasStop safety valve has been installed and the gas appliances have been turned off, push down on the gauge 4 to 6 times to see what the gas pressure is. If the needle is below the red bar on the gauge, then one or more of the following is the cause: the cylinder valve isn't open, the GasStop safety valve has shut off, you have run out of gas, you haven't pushed the gauge the appropriate number of times, or the temperature is around freezing.
If the needle is above the red bar, note its exact position before turning off the valve on your propane tank. Wait 60 seconds for standard applications and 5 minutes for longer RV gas systems. If the needle is in the same position, you can continue to use your propane system. If the needle dropped during that time, there is a leak somewhere. You shouldn't use your propane system until that leak has been found and repaired.
This GasStop safety valve is extremely simple to install. Once your propane system and all of your gas appliances have been shut off, tighten the GasStop safety valve onto your propane tank. Then re-attach your regulator and install the hose before checking for any leaks in your propane system. To allow the gas to flow, push down on the gauge face 4-6 times.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this gas stop emergency propane shutoff gauge with this 12 inch hose. So this is gonna help protect your family against major propane leaks and regulator failures. If you we're to have a major propane leak or if your regulator we're to fail, this is going to detect that and immediately turn off the gas supply. So unlike some of your other safety devices that are built into your propane tanks themselves and into your hoses those will oftentimes cut down on the amount of propane flowing through, but not completely. They still allow a little bit of propane to get through so that can be pretty dangerous, especially if you have a fire or something like that.
You don't want that propane feeding those flames. So this system is designed to cut down the flow 100% so you're not gonna have to worry about propane still flowing through there. So this is gonna be a great addition to your setup especially for your peace of mind knowing that it's going to reduce that risk completely. So when I say a major leak and that is going to be anything above normal usage so you're not gonna have to worry about this cutting down. If you we're to turn on an appliance that uses propane it's not going to set this off.
But if you we're to be experiencing a major leak, anything above the normal usage, this will shut down on that. And then it's very simple to get reset. So if you we're to experience a leak I want you to fix the leak, you can just push down on this four to six times that will reset it and allow that propane to flow through again. So this does have this type one ACME fitting that is gonna be compatible with your travel trailers and fifth wheels. We do have a different design with a POL connection for your Class A and Class C motor homes and that is sold separately.
This one is designed specifically for travel trailers and fifth wheels, so you wanna make sure you're getting the right one for your setup. This does have a nice brass and reinforced polycarbonate construction that is gonna be very corrosion resistant, will last a nice long time, hold up well for you. And you can see on the top here we also have this rotating pressure gauge that's going to give you a at a glance view of what's in your tank. So it will show if you have high pressure, sufficient gas or when your tank is getting low. You can see all that very easily and it does rotate.
So you can view it from whatever angle is most convenient for you. Very simple to get this installed. It's got that type one ACME fitting that will just tighten onto your existing propane tank's gas cylinder. And then we've got our hose here that will connect to the other end. So you can see as you put this in line in your system it is going to take up a little bit more room. We've got about just over three inches, we'll call it three and one eighth of an inch added on there. So that's why this 90 degree hose is gonna be so important. So rather than having your typical hose that we'll have to make a big loop, this is gonna allow this to fit into your small or cramped spaces and by keeping that 90 degree nice and tight there. And so you can still put your cover over your propane tanks. You won't have to worry about your hose snagging them and that sort of thing. This is a 12 inch long gas gear rubber pigtail hose. It's going to have a 250 PSI maximum pressure rating 200,000 BTU maximum flow capacity. We've got the ACME connection on the one end and then the other end is a quarter inch male inverted flare fitting. So that will fit right into your regulator for you. Both of these are UL and CSA approved so you can trust they are gonna be a good quality, hold up well for you and do what you need them to do and giving you that extra peace of mind knowing it is going to shut off that propane if there we're to be a major leak. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..
