Video Transcript for Review of Quick Fist Tie Down Straps - Roll Bull Bar Mounts - QF90050

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Roll Bar or Bull Bar Mounts for your quick fist clamps. That's going to be either for the Super clamp or the original. So just gives you a really easy way to mount that up to again, something round like a bull bar or a roll bar on your Jeep on the front of your vehicle, or really anywhere that you have that circular mount or circular bar that you want to attach this to. The clamps, let you attach all kinds of accessories, things like a flashlight, a shovel, really anything from quick fist. So it just mounts on the front here of the clamps, but it gives you a nice sturdy spot for that to mount onto that circular surface.

Comes with some adapters to make it easy to switch out from different diameters of bars.So let's take a closer look and talk about how that's going to work. Each of our mounts is made out of a durable glass filled nylon. So this is going to be similar to some accessories that you've seen maybe for a roof racks and things like that, that glass-filled nylon. I've seen on other things like roof racks, and it's really durable. It's meant to not fade over time.

Is a very stable product, so it should last you a very long time with this. You really shouldn't have to worry about it being out in the elements and being beat up by sun, wind and rain. The hardware is also stainless steel. So we shouldn't have to worry about any rust with that, which is also important, if this is going to be staying on the outside of our vehicle or going through some pretty harsh environmental conditions. It's pretty easy to mount these up.The only thing that you'll need as far as a tool is some kind of five, 32nd inch allen wrench or hex key.

I think it might also work with a four millimeter if you've got a metric set, but that's going to allow you to thread down the bolts that it comes with. And it has some square nuts that hold in place on those mounts. So there's a couple of square holes here. So you'd put one of those nuts there, bolt down through, thread it tight, and then same thing with all four mounting spots on the back, the nut just slides in place, and then it screws in the other direction. So just clamps around that bar and then the way to use the different adapters.

I'll loosen this one up, so you can look at that. They just snap it in place. So really easy to use this. No drilling or anything crazy requires there just a simple hand tool to get this in place. And again, switching out these little spacers is pretty simple. There's a tab on either side. So you just pull out on that and that'll release it. And then you can grab one of the other ones and snap that down in place. Without any adapter, the diameter of this opening is two inches, and then you can narrow that down to an inch and three quarters, an inch and a half or one inch. So any bar that's one of those diameters will work with this. It does also come with a couple of little pieces of rubber. So if you're clamping this onto something that's really shiny or a slick, like something that's really Chrome and just is really slippery otherwise, that should help to give it a little extra grip. So it's not going to slide around or turn especially if you're going over bumps and stuff like that.So just these two little pieces of rubber can fit inside those clamps. The adapters and the original inside here, they all have some grooves to help give it a little bit more texture. So it's not just a slick surface, but it should help again to grip onto that rubber and it should make it pretty nice and sturdy. You can use these again with the original, quick fist clamp or the super quick fist clamp. You can find both of those here at etrailer.com, along with a lot of other accessories. As far as the measurements for this bracket, the overall length or height is about six inches, width, just one of its own it's an inch and a half. With those adapters, it makes it a little bit wider. It's closer to about two inches there. This piece, this part of it is about three inches and it sticks out about three and a quarter from overall from the center of where the bar would be. It sticks out by about an inch and three quarters or about the same, an inch and three quarters. So hope that gives you an idea of what comes in the kit. How it's going to work and all the accessories that you can put with this. So it should be a nice addition to your vehicle to help hold up any of those smaller accessories. It is also made in the USA and that's going to do it for our look at the roll bar or bull bar mounts for your quick fist clamps. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

Bought these to mount lights on rack on a 2002 Toyota Tacoma truck. Rack is made of 2" steel tube. Previously used these for a shovel mount on the rack and they
worked well. I would buy again if needed.

I needed to hang an awning from the roof bar on my trailer. The bar is circular in section, 1.5in diameter, which is unusual - there are no clamps made specifically for this application. Also, the awning weighs 42lbs, so the clamps would have to be able to support it safely. I used 4 x QF90050 and drilled each support arm to take 2 x 8mm bolts through the predrilled holes in the steel brackets made for the awning. The material of the clamps is extremely strong, but was not a problem to machine. Using the correct 1.5in inserts and the rubber friction pieces, the clamps are rock solid on the roof bar - absolutely no movement. The brackets bolted easily to the clamps and tightened down nicely (photos). I am very confident that the final setup will stand up well to overlanding off the grid.

These are great, however I forgot the rubber insert and had a problem backing out one of the bolts and it snapped. Now I can’t use it. Luckily, I bought two.

Looks to be a very good product, and would do the job very well with some considerations. I decided not to use it though and wanted to share a couple things as to why, that might help the next buyer make an informed decision. First, this kit will work with the original quick fist clamps, but not how I wanted. The original clamps are only about 2 3/4" wide. The bracket for this kit is almost 6" wide, and sticks out 1 1/2" on each side of the clamp. A person could cut some of that off, but its still going to stick out on both sides of the clamp. Second, the bracket adds about another 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" stand off to the rollbar on top of the 5/8" from the clamp itself. All in all, it wasn't what I wanted so I went a different route. If you're using the super clamps, most of this is mute, as the super clamp will be about as wide as this bracket and it'll work great. Just my two cents...

This is the only camera mount I will use in a race car. It can't be beat.

by:

Cheap solution to mount a shovel or an axe to a roof rack.

by:

These are by far the best rollbar mounts I've ever used. I mount my in-car camera with them and for the first time no shake, no rattle, no worries. The description on the order page does not do them justice. They are way above my expectations.

by:

Just as described, very happy with my purchase.

  • Mounting a Solar Panel on a Roof Rack on a 2010 Nissan Frontier King Cab
I spoke with our primary solar panel supplier, GoalZero directly to get some insight into how best to mount a panel to the roof of your vehicle. According to them, its very common for panels like the Goal Zero Boulder, part # 287-32407 to be mounted to the roof of a vehicle or a roof rack using Z brackets. These brackets are widely available at hardware stores. The sides of the rear frame of the panel are able to be drilled to allow for a variety of connection solutions to your roof rack....

  • Will the Roll Bar/Bull Bar Mounts for Quick Fist fit Yakima CrossBars
I reached out to Quick Fist and have two possible solutions for you to make the # QF90050 fit the 1-1/8" crossbars. The first is to use the 1" snap-in inserts. Although they are designed for 1" you will likely be able to tighten them down enough to secure the mounting brackets without adding any additional material. The second option is what you suggested, which is to use the 1-1/2" snap-in inserts and fill the remaining space with rubber/foam for a secure fit. This is perfectly acceptable...
