This unique, adjustable pintle plate from Gen-Y Hitch offers 6 mounting positions for your pintle hook (sold separately). This lets you easily adjust the height of your pintle hook. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y pintle hook mounting plate absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.
Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.
Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the pintle plate, which provides the connection point for your pintle hook, and therefore the trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the pintle plate portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.
Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the pintle plate rises or falls, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the plate's motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.
This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerks to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.
This pintle plate from Gen-Y Hitch has 14 mounting holes, providing 6 different positions for your pintle hook. With the 6 mounting positions, you have the ability to adjust the height of your pintle hook to match your application. You can also use this plate as a mounting point for your Gen-Y bolt-on stacked receivers (GH-124 - sold separately).
This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The highest arrow on the scale indicates the mount's maximum tongue weight (1,700 lbs). The middle arrow indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). There must be a minimum tongue weight of 1,200 lbs for the built-in shock absorption to function. This means that the tongue weight scale's white indicator marker should be between the highest arrow and the arrow directly below it when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Gen-Y Torsion Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2" Hitches. This pintle plate torsion drop hitch is compatible with most four-hole pattern bolt-on pintle hook mounts on the market. The mount holes on this unit are separated by 1-3/4" up and down, each one, center on center, and then 3-3/8 side to side. Hardware's not included to get an accessory attached to this. This is designed to fit inside of a 2" by 2" trailer hitch receiver. It does come with your hitch pin and clip, and there's two hitch pin hole locations on it. You can choose whatever one works best for your application. When it comes to the capacities of the unit, we're looking at a 16,000 pound towing capacity, and a 1700 pound tongue weight capacity.
It can be used in either the rise or drop positions, and provides up to a 5-1/2" rise or drop. Now, the plate right here, this plate measures 6" wide by 12-1/2" tall. It features six adjustable positions. That way, your towing setup is always as level as possible. Position one, position two, position three, position four, position five, and position six. Now, torsion hitches have a lot of great features, so back here, you'll notice that there's a lot going on. With rubber torsion hitches, only 10% of the trailer inertia transfers, compared to 100% when using a standard hitch.
So internally, there are heavy-duty rubber torsion flex cords which eliminate shock transfer. So, the tow vehicle and your trailer, with this installed, is designed to track independently, which gives you greater control. It also increases safety by reducing sway and trailer bounce. Braking control increases, since all the weight on the tow vehicle and trailer is distributed evenly. It gives you increased positive contact when braking and maneuvering, and the system helps keep you under control when confronted with road conditions such as bumps, potholes, expansion joints, curves, hills, and so on.This unit is rated to have a 90% smoother ride, which will help increase tire life.
It also helps reduce driver fatigue, and the best feature about the system is that it drastically reduces trailer fatigue, so it protects your components better on your trailer: suspension, framing, anything like that. Also, most importantly is it's designed to really protect not only your trailer but also whatever it is that you're hauling in or on your trailer. It's fabricated with heavy-duty steel. It's also precision milled and drilled for a perfect look and a perfect fit. It has a nice protective powder coat finishing on the unit to keep it safe from rust and corrosion. Now another great feature about this system is it's an extremely low maintenance design, so there's no air bags, there's no bearings. Basically, there's two maintenance positions, one right here, and then one below at the same point on the other side.
These are grease Zerks, so it has the grease Zerks which allow for easy maintenance. Attach a grease gun, pump in your grease. Keeps the moving components lubricated as needed for great performance. Also, it has the built-in mechanical tongue weight scale for balanced, safe loading every time you couple to a trailer.Again, the mounting plate measures 6" wide by 12-1/2" tall, and this product is made right here in the U.S.A.That's going to do it for today's look at the Gen-Y Torsion Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2" Hitches.
