Today we're taking a look at a Convert-a-Ball 00:00:04 Cushion Pintle Mounting Bar. Now, this is cushioned to protect your tow vehicle's drive line and hitch assembly as well as the trailer's contents. So, internally there's a polyurethane interior that acts as a shock absorber, which reduces bounce and rhythmic vibration. It installs easily. What you would do is you would mount your Pintle hitch to the bar using four grade five half inch diameter bolts, Pintle and mounting hardware are sold separately.If you're in need of those, you can find all that at etrailer.com, and then the shank of the unit slides into a two inch square hitch receiver, and attaches or secures with a standard 5/8" diameter hitch pin or hitch lock. Those items are sold separately as well.
The unit's constructed of a powder coated steel, again it has the nice polyurethane interior cushion, but the powder coating does a great job at helping the unit resist rust and corrosion. It's made in the USA. It fits a two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver. The towing capacity is 10,000 pounds. Towing weight capacity is 2,000 pounds.We're going to go over some measurements with you real quick.
The distance that we have between our mounting holes, side to side going this way, that gives us a measurement of 3 3/8, and then going this direction, it's going to measure 1 3/4". The distance that we get from the front edge of that hitch pin hole, to the front of the mounting plate is six inches. Overall length, back to front, is a bout nine inches.From the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the shank, that measures about 2 5/8", and the actual mounting plate, edge to edge this direction measures five inches, edge to edge in this direction is about four inches. This is my second pintle mount from Conver-A-Ball I bent the first one when my pintle hook bound on the ring of my trailer. The first lasted for many years, and hopefully this replacement will too.

I absolutely love this hitch!!! I regularly tow 9-10,000lbs total load (tractor and trailer). Pintle are great but noisy and tend to slam and transfer that shock to the truck. I ran a ball style of this hitch years ago and noticed a difference with that so figured I would give this a shot. I don't notice or feel any more slamming while coming to a stop or taking off! What a major comfort improvement over the rigid hitch. My only complaint, seeing as I live in New England with salty roads is that the actual sliding block inside the hitch is bare metal. It's rusting up and froze my pin inside it. Got the pin out with a air hammer and patience but now am going to soak it down. I've only owned this for a year and that's the only complaint I have

The website is very easy to use and very descriptive of all the products. The shipment was super fast, the mount arrived at my door three days after purchase. The cushion feature of the mount makes for very gentle stops with my 16' enclosed trailer and my dump trailer. Excellent product and excellent service all around.

Product's shaft edges are so rounded it slaps around in my receiver quite a bit, I hope it works better with a trailer attached.

Seems to be adequate. Gave it a lower grade because it does not have a permanent marking/stamp listing weight limit, just a sticker, which will eventually fall off...
