I have a 2005 mini cooper S with a Curt hitch, will this be long enough to clear the bumper and mount a bike rack?

The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 80303 provides a 6" extension which is measured from the center of each hitch pin hole. I can't say whether or not this will allow you to mount your bike rack on said vehicle as there are just too many variables unfortunately. That said, all of the racks we offer list the required hitch pin hole depth for bumper clearance. The Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack part # HLY94FR for example measures 9-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright. Therefore, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside of the bumper on your vehicle can be no more than 9-1/4" which I can't imagine it is when using this rack. If you were to add the above adapter (not needed), you'd be looking at 15-1/4" just for example.

Please note, using a hitch extender or expander will reduce capacity by 50%.

The rear center light of your 2004 Mini Cooper will need to be removed to install the Curt hitch part #C11126. The hole where the light was is where the hitch opening will come out. Check out the install instructions link I attached for more info…
