Bushing reduces Titan Class V receiver opening (2-1/2" x 2-1/2") to a Class III or IV receiver opening (2" x 2").

Features:

  • Adapts a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" hitch receiver opening into a 2" x 2"
    • Works with factory-installed and after-market trailer hitches with a 2-1/2" square receiver opening
      • To use with Ford Super Duty pickups, modification may be required
  • Allows you to use your 2" towing and hitch-mounted accessories

Note: Ford OEM hitches have a tighter/different radius on their 2-1/2 inch receiver tubes. To accommodate the OEM Ford 2-1/2 inch hitch, the corners of a ball mount, shank or reducer sleeve may need to be sanded down to slide into the hitch. Do not remove any more material than necessary. Simply removing the paint or powder-coat is often sufficient.

Never use a grinder to knock-down the corners, which may remove too much material and will also heat the accessory and could compromise the product's structural integrity. This is especially the case with cast accessories like larger weight distribution shanks.

Video Transcript for Reese Titan Hitch Reducer Sleeve Review

Hi there, heavy haulers. Today we're gonna be taking a look at Reese's Titan 2.5-2 inch reducer sleeve. And this is what our reducer sleeve looks like. You can see the sleeve here, how it takes up the extra space in our 2.5 inch hitch there. And we've got a 2 inch shank on our accessory here and that'll slide on the inside. So you could see how this would allow this component to now work in there.

The hole that's located in it is offset. And it's kinda nice that it's offset, that's gonna help with the versatility of it a little bit, because some of your receivers are not straight through, this one here is and it's completely hollow on the inside. So this can slide all the way through and out the back. It hits our spare tire, so it won't go all the way. But some receivers actually have a plate on the back that prevents things from going in all the way.

So that way we've got the option to put our hole closer to the mouth here if we need to, if that's the case so we could put it like this, just depends on which is the best orientation for our accessories. The shank is completely hollow on this, so you can slide it as far as you need to on your accessories. Say, solid steel construction with a black powder coat finish on to help protect against rust and corrosion. And this adapter is gonna be great for any accessories that you have, that have a 2 inch shank that you wanna place into your hitch that is a 2.5 inch opening. It simply slides over the shank of your accessory and then slides into the receiver of your 2.5 inch hitch.

There's a hitch pin hole that's inside of our adapter that will allow our hitch pin to slide through so we can secure it just like we would any other accessory. Now you do wanna keep in mind that some of the accessories anti-rattle will not fully function. You can see we've got a little bit of play still here because this style, as you tighten this down, it pulls the component tight against the hitch pin, which is pulling it tight against our adapter but isn't pulling it tight against the hitch. But if you have accessories that use a bolt that tightens in from the side, it'll pull everything to the side and tighten it down just like normal and you'll have that anti-rattle. So we've gone ahead and pulled our bike rack out.

And it's also gonna work with your ball mounts. If you wanna pull a trailer, this thing will adapt it as well. If you maybe already have a 2 inch shank ball mount laying around with what you got your truck, and it came with a 2.5 inch receiver. Then we'll slide it in, you can see we've got our holes kinda lined up there. And then we can take our hitch pin and clip, slide it through each and secure it on the other side. And we'll secure it with the clip on the other side. And you can see here we've now got our 2 inch shank ball mount secured on the back of our hitch, we're ready to hook up to whatever trailer we need to with this ball mount. All this adapter does is take up the extra space between your shank and your receiver on your hitch. It doesn't affect the weight ratings of your components that are installed in it, but you wanna make sure that you do realize that the lowest rated component is going to be your maximum rating that you can use. So let's say this hitch is rated for 15,000 pounds, but we can see here this is written on top, that it's rated for a maximum of 10,000 pounds on our ball. And this ball here actually says it's rated for a maximum of 7,500 pounds. So in our current configuration our maximum is gonna be 7,500 pounds because that's our lowest component. And that's gonna be the same regardless whether or not you're using this in a 2 inch hitch or you're using it in a 2.5 here with an adapter sleeve like we are. And that completes our look at Reese's Titan 2.5-2 inch reducer sleeve..

This ain't pretty. But size does matter. The 58102 2" X 2 1/2" receiver adapter hits the spot. It fits nicely into the 2 1/2" receiver with, at most, 1/8" space "slap" room. It's almost full length front to back inside receiver providing plenty of support for my 2" weight distribution system without slap. I have not hooked up my Forest River 29'4", 10,7 75 lb. GVWR Puma tow behind R/V but I do not have any fear of this well constructed, perfect fitting receiver adapter. The people at etrailer are there, willing and able to assist you. I have personally found that, if the C.S. Rep doesn't know the answer, she/he will find the answer and report back to you, in my case within minutes. My purchase was delivered (snail mail) within 5 days and In excellent condition. I will report back shortly after a trial run hooked up.

This fits a Curt 2 1/2 receiver perfectly. Allows me to use receiver with my various drawbars for different trailers when I am not using the Forklift hitch box extension.

Fine sold the truck to neighbor who makes good use of it with camper.

Wish these adapters were longer, but it gets the job done with some extra rattle from the sloppy fit. It will get me by till I get a better fitting 2 1/2" draw bar.

Thank you for your review. All adapters will fit a little differently depending on the powder coat finish. Sometimes even, there is too much and it needs filed. In your case because you have some play you can always pair it with an anti-rattle device.

by:

As has been widely reported this thing does not fit "snugly" into the 2 & 1/2" hitch receiver. Because the reducer sleeve is not a "snug" fit it rattles around a bit and is showing signs of wear around the pin hole. Fortunately I bought a 2 & 1/2" shank instead of relying solely on the reducer.

Over the last couple of years, I have purchased different parts for my towing needs from etrailer.com. The parts have ranged from hitch adapters to trailer tires. The customer service from Crystal K., and the quality of the products from etrailer.com have all been the very best that you could expect. I highly recommend that you at least consider etrailer.com for anything that you may need when you are towing or RV'ing.

I ordered 2 hitch adapters (sleeves) an a hitch pin from etrailer over the phone because I could not find mine and I wanted to get these shipped quickly before I left on my hunting trip a few days later. I called late in the day, about an hour before closing, but Cathy still worked magic and got my shipment put together and on the truck that night! My items arrived a couple of hours before I planned to leave. Cathy saved the beginning of my trip!

For the review of the 2 square pieces of metal tubing --- they worked great :-). This review is for the outstanding customer service I've experienced each time I've ordered anything from etrailer.com, but especially this time from Cathy.

This is just perfect. When I bought my new truck I was very surprised that I now had a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver. Of course my 2 inch hitches and accessories didn't fit plus I had to get another receiver pin to fit the 2-1/2. I will have to say etrailers on-line was a great experience. They had what I needed and the prices were very reasonable. Thanks. I will definitely be back for more trailer accessories.

by:

Reducer worked great for my GMC 2 1/2 inch hitch. Received Blue Ox Sway Pro WD 2" hitch with no problems. Used the 2 1/2 inch hitch lock to secure everything in place. Very little movement and fit snug as a bug. Great Product. Fast Shipping. As always Amazing customer service!

by:

The part fit up in a 2 1/2" receiver on a F250 without issue, despite multiple reports that some massaging might be needed to fit the factory hitch. Normally, I would give this 5 stars and the product, while not complex, works as advertised. The 4 star rating is due to the country of origin - China.

by:

The part itself is just like the way it was described. I have a 2011 F-250, I read in the reviews that the piece wouldn't slide in unless some of the corner were ground down, with this information I didn't think it would be a big deal. I have not used it yet. I slid the part into my hitch and it fit, in my opinion a little too loose, I also slid it into my reciever and it too seemed a little too loose fitting. May have to buy a 2 1/2 receiver instead.

by:

This adapter saved me from replacing all of my 2" hitches when I bought my 2012 chevy 2500hd. You will need a longer pin, but works quite well. It fits great, but does have a little slack. That may be because my hitch has some wear on it. Works perfectly.

by:

I bought this to use a bike carrier in my 2 1/2 inch Curt hitch receiver. Fit perfectly on the bike carrier and into the 2 1/2 inch receiver. Katie D. did a great job making sure that it would fit without potential modification warned for Ford factory hitches.

by:

Very snug fit into my 2.5" receiver and accepted the 2" drawbar nicely. There is almost no side to side movement which my anti rattle pin will take care of but there is up and down play in it. I think my drawbar isn't quite 2" sqaure because this piece definitely is.

by:

Fit perfectly on my 2016 Ford F350 Dually.

by:

Received this reducer within 4 days of ordering it which was impressive. Installed into my receiver and am very satisfied. I can feel just so ever lightly a little play but nothing that would ever cause me concern pulling our 37" travel trailer. Upon installing the ball hitch into this again very very little play if any.

by:

Have used the adapter for a year now and have had no issues. The unit wiggles a little when in place but I image that is necessary for it to slide into place correctly. The unit does not wiggle once connected to the trailer and I can't hear any noises coming from the hitch when towing. I would buy this unit again.

Purchased this item for my new 2011 F250 that, following the big 3 towing wars, now coms with a 2.5" reciever. This will not fit into stock 2.5" recievers as it has a heavy coating of paint. Be ready to grind paint off to get it to fit into your reciever! We'll see how long it lasts uncoated.

Newer Ford 2.5 inch receivers use a tighter corner radius than most so these adapters often need to have the finish removed at the corners to fit.

by:

I expected the Reese Titan Reducer Sleeve 21/2 Reducer sleeve to be a very tight fit for my stock 2011 F250 Super Duty hitch. Instead, it fit a little too easy with some slop. Don't like the slop, therefore, I rated as only Good.

by:

LIKE A GLOVE - 2019 F250 Lariat - Ordered as a reduction sleeve for my new trucks Class V trailer hitch. Received this very quickly and this part is BEEFY.. I Just removed the sticky label and inserted into the 2 1/2" hitch receptical, added the pin to secure it. DONE.

by:

Does what is says reduces the opening on the ford titan hitch. The drilled thru hole should be just a 1/8 inch towards the rear more so it is flush on the hitch opening when inserted, but doesn't affect anything.

by:

Purchased for a 2017 Ford F250 with factory 2 1/2" receiver. Fits perfectly right out of the box. Some reviewers mentioned that they had to file the edges a bit, but I did not. Excellent quality, excellent fit.

by:

The quality of this item is good, but there is way too much play between the both the sleeve, the receiver tube, and the ball mount. I would say that my ball moves up-to-down and side-to-side 3/4" at the tip. I am going to have to make some shims just to tighten the tolerance so the receiver won't CLUNK everytime I stop or hit a bump.

by:

Perfect fit. No trouble at all installing either the pin or my 2" ball mount hitch. A previous sleeve I bought locally wouldn't even slide into the 2-1/2" receiver, but that wasn't the case with the Reese Titan reducer.

by:

I received my item today. The online purchase was easy and the product was well described. Tracking was great with their order tracking system. My order arrived on time and exactly when promised. The product works great. Thank you Etrailer.com
