Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk or rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Excellent hitch, installed street side in 45 minutes. Very sturdy.

Very happy customer! My order arrived a day earlier than expected & my new trailer hitch and wire harness were installed with no issues and everything works perfectly!

by:

Everything was excellent looking on website, from calling saying what I needed, had in stock , free shipping over 99 dollars, was delivered in 3days . Very thing was awesome.. I recommend this company for anybody that needs trailer hitches or more.

by:

Product works as described; didn’t take too long to install. Some removal of panels are required, basic tools needed to install. Very pleased with how it works and would buy from etrailer again.

This was a breeze! Went exactly as the online video said. The threshold actually came out with the storage tray which helped me skip a step. I did do one thing differently and that is I took a 1 1/4" paddle bit and drilled a hole in the left side of the storage tray. This allowed me to thread trailer wire in for storage without it having to go in-between.

by:

The instructions in the box are not very good. View the install video on the website instead. Has all you need. Installation is easy. Took me less than a half hour. Fit of the connectors is perfect. Trailer lights worked first time.

by:

Excellent product. Fit and working exactly as it's supposed to. Very detailed directions.

@Dewayne That's great, we're glad to hear that!

I found the hardest part of that was removing the plastic trim and then getting the carpet back under the trunk seal
The harness went together really quick.

2007 HyundaiSanta Fe

After trying unsuccessfully for 2 days to fix an old U-Haul installed wiring harness on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe (located under the vehicle's left rear quarter panel), I did a little research online and found etrailer.com, and ordered the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Item #118415 on Nov. 21, and received it on Nov. 27th. The price was less than half what I was going to have to pay to order a new U-Haul version. This wiring harness was everything the online description said it was - specific to my vehicle and inline connectors that require "no splicing". The instructions had actual pictures of a similar vehicle and showed where to access the vehicle's left and right rear wiring connections. Start to finish the installation took about 2.5-3 hrs, but the majority of this time was spent removing the SUV's rear cargo compartment threshold, storage trays and access panels (so that the wiring was below those and not exposed), running the trailer connector externally to the hitch instead of just leaving it exposed in the cargo area, and removing the old U-Haul wiring box and splicers. Connections were made flawlessly. The only thing I had to do was drill a hole to connect the white ground wire to the frame of the vehicle with the self-tapping screw provided. The relay box was to be attached with "provided" double-sided tape behind the driver's side side panel. The tape was missing but I had some so it was no big deal. Once wiring connections were made and the ground wire secured to frame, I tested the 4-pole flat connector with a tester I had and everything worked perfectly. I then replaced the cargo storage trays and threshold, and snapped all the panels back in place.

I highly recommend this product. The cost was excellent, the product well designed, and the written instructions were specific to my vehicle and had pictures of the same make/model of vehicle as well. The installation went well, and was certainly easier than crawling around under the vehicle trying to splice into the vehicle lights wiring.

One additional step I took, was to order the 4-Pole Mounting Bracket Item #18144, and to snake the harness 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector through the cargo compartment/bumper assembly and secure it to the towing hitch frame for easy access when hooking up my boat trailer. It even works with the connector's attached cover that protects the connector from weather, etc. I also purchased the Loctite Di-electric grease Item #LT37534 and applied to the connector terminals with a Q-Tip for added protection and ease of connection of trailer 4-flat connector.

This product has worked flawlessly for the last year. My boat trailer lights work every time, and I am completely pleased with the products I purchased. I highly recommend them to anyone who is needs to run a trailer wiring harness to their vehicle. Instructions and pictures were specific to my exact vehicle, make model year.

I ordered a class 3 hitch and wiring kit for my Hyundai Santa Fe. The process of selecting the right hitch and wiring was extremely easy on the site, and the order was received quickly via regular shipping.

Using the videos on the site as a reference, both the hitch and wiring were installed in less than hour total.

The service and information available at eTrailer was excellent. I am very happy with my purchase.

Thanks for the follow-up. I am still very happy happy with my hitch and have had no issues. Great product and service.

by:

The tow wiring kit was easy to install and the design made it an easy " plug & play installation. Just follow the easy to understand illustrated directions. The challenge was removing the plastic sides without damage but as work progressed, the sides, the seats (third row seating) and cargo box were easily tackled. With the proper tools and some patience you can DIY and enjoy the experience.

After a year of use I have had no problems with the wiring harness. The installation was made easy with the plug and design. The excess time was mostly in the removal of the cars third row seats, tray and plastic sides but in the end the installation was not all that difficult.

by:
2008HyundaiSanta Fe

This installed easily, just followed the excellent video. It also worked of course and got power to my trailer lights. Excellent product/service/instructions all around, thank you! Well, well worth the reasonable cost.

2011 HyundaiSanta Fe

Worked like a champ on a Hyundai 2011 Santa Fe. Towed a trailer from Seattle to Ashland, OR and then to Spokane, WA. Zero problems.
The ball mount clunks a little as it moves around inside the receiver when driving. A little annoying but I shimmed it with a couple of thin pieces of HDPE plastic to quiet it down.
Installed the hitch by myself which was a pain. A second set of hands would have been very helpful. I didn't remove the muffler just moved it out of the way with a piece of wood.
Starting the bolts was a little tricky without help. Installing the wiring harness was straight forward and uneventful.
Derek S. at eTrailer was very helpful with steering me towards the correct wiring harness. Would buy from these folks again.

This product makes it so easy to wire your vehicle. Remembering back to early wiring installations, they were difficult locating and running wires. This is really a 30 minute job, start to finish!

I recently installed a tow bar on my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe primarily to be used for a bike rack. I decided to order this trailer wiring harness in case I ever need to tow a small trailer. This wiring kit is simple to install and does not require any wire splicing or wire taps. The installation video tells you exactly how and where to install the components of this harness kit. I'm very pleased with this kit.

by:
2007 HyundaiSanta Fe

Well designed product. Watched the instructional video first and installation only took a few minutes. Be sure to ground to bare metal, even if you have to scrape a little paint off the grounding point first.

product worked as i planned. used it to convert bumper reflectors on my 2009 hyundai santa fe to tail and stop lights. now able to switch the trailer plug from the auxilary bumper lights to my trailer lights hen trailering. easy to install and decent price.

2007 HyundaiSanta Fe

I installed this wiring harness on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe SE with the third row seating. Installation was very easy, especially after watching the associated video. I would say that overall the installation only took about 30 minutes to complete.

I used a short length of wire to fish each end of the harness up behind the side trim piece to the rear lighting connector. I pull a popup camper and this product worked flawlessly on a recent camping trip.

Perfect fit and used video to install on 2008 Santa Fe without towing package. Very easy to install.

8/31/2015

Product still works like new and I am very satisfied!

by:

Installation could not be easier. In fact you only have to remove 3 screws to remove the lower tray that holds the jack if you have a flexible pickup tool to snake to wires up on both sides. Took less than 1/2 hour to install and put everything back together, I used one of the taillight screws as a ground point, just scrape some paint off around the screw. No worry about splicing into the vehicle harness, plug and play.

by:

The first time I had to replace the wiring harness I took it back to the dealer and it cost over $150. This time I purchased the product from etrailer and thanks to the very explicit video instructions was able to replace the unit in less than 15 minutes at less than one third the cost. Very satisfied with the cost, speed of delivery and helpful company.

Connected everything perfectly . No installment issue. Trailer hitch and wiring harness perfect match for my vehicle. Thank you Etrailer.

  • Troubleshooting New Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Not Working for 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # 118258 not having any power means that either the fuse that comes with it is bad or a fuse for the trailer lights on your 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe is bad since this is connected to the OEM tow package. From what I was seeing in the online owner's manual the "BATT" fuse in the engine compartment fuse box takes a 30A fuse and protects the Trailer Power Outlet so that's what you'll want to check. If the fuses look good then I'd try...

In order to choose the correct trailer wiring harness for a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe you'll need to know if the vehicle came equipped with the factory tow package, if the hitch has a Hyundai hitch it should have this logo somewhere or if it's aftermarket it will have either a Curt/Draw-Tite/Hidden Hitch.
