To determine the correct ball mount to use for your Hyundai Santa Fe with a Class III 2 inch receiver hitch and the Jay Feather Ex Port 17c travel trailer you will need to measure from the ground to the top of the receiver hitch opening on the Santa Fe and from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler on the travel trailer, with the trailer parked on a fairly level surface and the trailer frame level.

Once you have those measurements, you can subtract the height of the Santa Fe receiver opening from the height of the trailer coupler and this will tell you the proper amount of rise you will need for selection of a ball mount. I added a link to an article that details how to measure to select the correct ball mount for you to review.

Next, you might want to look into a weight distribution system for towing this trailer with your Santa Fe. Any time a trailer weighs more that 1/2 the vehicle weight a weight distribution system is recommended for safe towing. Tongue weight is most likely part of the reason why the ball mount is too low. The weight distribution system will transfer the trailer tongue weight to the vehicle and trailer axles, reducing the sag at the back of the vehicle and allowing your vehicle to tow easier, stop better, and reduce tire wear that is caused by the reduction in weight on the front axle of the vehicle. I attached an informative article for you to review that will help you determine if a weight distribution system is required for your towing situation. If you can let me know the gross trailer weight and trailer tongue weight, fully loaded and ready to tow, I can make specific recommendations for you.

Another thing you might want to look into is a brake controller, if your trailer is equipped with electric brakes. For the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe you would need a working 4-way connector, # 118415, if you do not already have one, an electric brake controller installation kit, # ETBC7, and a brake controller. I would recommend the Prodigy P2 brake controller, # 90885, because it is easy to setup and use and gets great reviews from our customers.
