Once installation is complete, the connectors will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket is included to keep the connectors secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole and 4-pole connectors - to help prevent corrosion.

2013 Lexus LX 570

2013 LX570, plug into DRIVER'S side, the instructions say this, as do plenty of posts on IH8MUD, also drop your spare tire when you do this to enable more room. On my SUV there are the appropriate 2 mating connectors on the passenger side connected to a bracket with dummy caps on them. I plugged this into them just to try, and the pinouts are not correct. I did not try to check which wire was which, only that I did not have turn/brake/trailer brakes. If you follow this wire harness to the driver's side you will see 2 identical connectors that are plugged into the harness, you need to unplug these and plug this Hopkins HM11143910 into it.
What is a bit frustrating, but not a deal breaker, is that this adapter is too short to enable the routing all the way to the passenger side of the vehicle so you can mount the bracket to the factory mounting point, there is a bracket with 2 M8X1.25 holes about 12-18" away from the receiver.
I have not yet figured out a permanent mounting spot (as of now it is zip tied away from the muffler), but whatever I go with it will be ideal to get a 7 way and/or 4 way extension harness as the wiring is fairly far from the receiver and may cause an issue depending on the length of your trailer wiring.

Did not fit my LX570 as stated. Well made but miss wired. Plugged right into my cars wiring harness and nothing worked. Turned out I had to cut and splice each wire in the pig-tail to get all the lights to work. I still don't have trailer brakes but I'm sure that is wired backwards also. I got frustrated and gave up, almost a year later I got around to trouble shooting it (I really needed it for a trip with my car trailer and my truck was down) Works fine now that it's re-wired, I like the dual plugs, both flat and round. Very handy. I guess I would try again with a different make/model vehicle when I have the need.

Looft, thank you for your review. We reached out to the engineers at Hopkins and they let us know there are two sets of plugs on the the Lexus LX 570. Two connectors on the drivers side and two connectors on the passenger side. This part # HM11143910 plugs into the plugs on the drivers side.

2008 Toyota Land Cruiser

This product works on LC200 (200 series Toyota Land Cruiser) in the same mounting location as listed for the LX570. It MUST be placed on the driver side, not on the passenger side hook ups. I recommend moving the spare tire out of the way prior to install, it just gives a bit more room to work.

Product installed quickly and had all the needed components. it did not have a "self tapping" screw/bolt, which would have helped with the mounting, but it only needed one which I had laying around. I liked that the mounting bracket had different possible configurations, as I mounted mine so that the 7 pin cap opened sideways, which is easier to deal with.

So far so good, Ive pulled trailers with both 4 and 7 pin connectors and they work. No signs of wear or corrosion, mounting location still works.

by:
2013 Lexus LX 570

Extremely disappointed in the quality control. Well built product but the pin-outs were completely wrong. I had been using the 4pin output up until now which was good, and the first time I used the 7-pin, it was completely mis-wired. There was no power to the trailer and it blew a fuse on my vehicle. Bought a tester and only the right turn signal was correct. Was in the field and had to resort to cutting the harness to temporarily remap the socket.

A search of the web shows a few more frustrated users likely experiencing the same issue.

PK, thank you for your review. We reached out to the engineers at hopkins and they let us know there are two sets of plugs on the the Lexus LX 570. The Lexus has two connectors on the drivers side and two connectors on the passenger side. The harness will plug into both sets of connectors but the connectors on the passenger side are not pinned for this part. This part HM11143910 plugs into the plugs on the drivers side.

2013 Lexus LX 570

This item did not work properly. It did fit the factory connections. But when I used the four pin connection for trailer lights it did not work properly. I had to spice up the wires on my trailer four pin to make is partially work and complete my trip. I have not used the 2013 Lexus LX 570 to tow anymore. Perhaps it was just a faulty product and I need to order another one an retry.

Steve, thank you for your review. We reached out to the engineers at hopkins and they let us know there are two sets of plugs on the the Lexus LX 570 one set on the drivers side and one set on the passenger side. The harness will plug into both sets of connectors but the connectors on the passenger side are not pinned for this part so it will not work. This part # HM11143910 plugs into the connectors on the drivers side.

At first I thought the wiring was incorrect as stated by other reviews, but when I reached out to Hopkins they provided the attached diagram and pointed out that it is required to be connected on the plugs found on the drivers side (highlighted in yellow), not the open plugs on the passenger side. After I made this change everything worked

Defective plug. Checked > juice @ car plugs...juice from connectors to plug (wires good)...no juice at he master plug, either one. U-Haul had to install their own plug!!!

According to Hopkins, this vehicle has a set of plugs on both the drivers and passenger side. The trailer connector will NOT work if plugged into the passenger side, use the plugs on the drivers side only and it should work fine for you.

2013 Lexus LX 570

Your product is a neat and professional product. The only improvement is your mounting bracket does not fit the Lexus Lx570 wiring harness 2 mounting holes. I just modified it to fit.

by:

I took some pics this morning of the product laid out on my kitchen counter. I remembered your email and then when I opened the packaging up, I said this looks like a well-made product; thus, I will be happy to take some pictures of it installed.

I was impressed by the detail of receiver cover in that even the 4-prong receptacle cover is hinged, which is something unusual for a rubber lanyard to a plug cover.

I only hope that the hardware is stainless steel. If not, I will be switching it out for stainless.

I just received the shipment and everything looks good. I haven't installed anything yet but I expect no issues. Shipping, while perhaps not as fast as say that big box website, is consistently fast enough with excellent communications from etrailer and predictable tracking info. This is our second order from etrailer and almost certainly will not be our last. Very good people to work with.

2013 Lexus LX 570

Not sure who screwed up wiring on the passenger side, the Lexus or Hopkins engineers. Why doesn't it just work on the passenger side? Hence, 4 stars. I had to ask a mechanic to hook it up on the driver side that required placing the harness closer to the driver side.

Does not work the connections fit but it blows fuse as soon as you hook the trailer to it.

Thank you for your review. I recommend to make sure you have the two connections from the wiring harness fully seated with the two connectors from the drivers side of the Lexus not the passenger side. If you are still having issues then you may want to check the trailer wiring for any shorts or frayed wiring. It is also a good idea to make sure you have a secure ground to a clean bare metal surface of the trailer.

The electrical wiring harness was an easy install. I just needed to unplug the factory wiring and plug the harness in.

As you have realized, the 2013 LX570 has connectors on both the drivers and passenger side. Make sure that the connector is plugged all the way into the connectors on the drivers side until its fully seated. If the trailer connector is already fully seated into the connectors on the drivers side, you might have a missing or blown fuse. The fuses that protect the vehicles tow package are located in the fuse box under the hood, in position # 10,16,17,23 and 44. Please check those fuses and let us know what you find.

  • Replacement 7-Way Recommendation for 2012 Toyota Tacoma
The harness you referenced is for a Lexus vehicle and would not be correct for your 2012 Toyota Tacoma. For a replacement that does fit your vehicle you would want the part # 74682. As long as the harness is in tact this will work fine. It comes with a new bracket as well.

  • Installing a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2005 Toyota Tacoma
I'm not sure why but I can tell you that the part you're looking at, Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11143910, is a fit for the Lexus 570 but not your 2005 Toyota Tacoma. To install a 7-way trailer connector on your truck you need to first start by adding a 4-way if you don't already have one. I recommend using the Tekonsha part # 118496. It plugs in either behind the tail lights or along the truck's frame rail on both sides. Once the 4-way is installed, or if you...

It sounds like you don't have the factory 7-Way on your 2015 Toyota Tacoma. We do have some parts that you can install that will give you a 4-Way and 7-Way combination on your Tacoma.
