2012 Honda Ridgeline - Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector

  • Trailer Hitch Wiring
  • 7 Round - Blade
  • Custom Fit
  • Powered Converter
  • Tekonsha

Replace the damaged 7-way, RV-style trailer connector on your Honda Ridgeline with this T-One harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required. ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system.

  • Connects quickly and easily - no cutting or splicing of wires
    • Tow harness with 7-way connector plugs into connection point behind rear bumper
    • ModuLite connects in rear cargo area
  • Supplies required relays and fuses to activate functions
  • Constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire
  • Mounting bracket sold separately

Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 4.2 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. You will have to remove some interior paneling to access this harness. The connection point for the 7-way tow harness is located behind the rear bumper, on the driver's side. The Modulite plugs into the factory wiring harness within the driver's-side storage compartment in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the Modulite, insert the included fuses and relays into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

1 year later, still works like day 1. I primarily trailer a fishing boat, so this connection has been dunked in the water a bunch now. Works great.

A great kit, easy to install. Clear and concise instructions. hardest part of the install was separating the OEM blanking plug under the rear bumper.

Still happy with its performance, but after giving up motorcycle riding for the moment or maybe longer due to age and health I havent been using it as much.

This will definitely do the job. I found the printed instructions to be scant, pics are hard to decipher. That said, the video(s) on the trailer website and the ubiquitous YouTube will provide any additional info required.

Jesse at eTrailer help me with configuring my 2009 Honda Pilot to be able to pull legal loads. I had previously installed their 4 pin connector but I want to be able to use trailers with brakes to full extent. I added a Redarc brake controller in a convenient location. Easy to replace the current harness with the 7 way connector. A little more work to pull panels to locate the Redarc control head exactly where i wanted it, but no biggie. As always, great customer service and a great product. Thanks Jesse and all at eTrailer.

I installed this item on my 2010 Pilot on 8-19-2017. I followed the video on how to do the installation. I have a couple issues with the video, the man's instruction concerning the electric connection under the bumper, where he uses a pair of pliers to remove the cap, this is crap. I tried that and broke the bracket holding that part to the vehicle. All that was necessary was to depress the relief mechanism and pull them apart. Why did he not mention this and save a lot of aggravation and damage, seems like common sense to me. I didnt discover this until it broke lose...Also, don't waste your time and money with the mounting bracket, it's not necessary and it wont work if you want a clean professional looking installation. The universal bracket they sent me was a 90 degree and you need something closer to a 35-degree angle if you want it to mount flush to the bumper wall. Just forget the bracket and do as I did, mouunt it to the plastic bumper itself. The bumper wall thickness is strong enough for this and it gives you a clean proper mount (see my pics attached). Other than that everything worked verky well and I would recommend this product....well, good luck!!!

by:

Installation was a little longer than I expected, due to me having to modify the mounting bracket (PK1211U), that I also purchased . The youtube video was very helpful. They did indicate that you may have to make some adjustments to get the mounting bracket to work. I had to bend the bracket at, didn't have a way to check what degree it was bent, just made an eye-ball guess (Sorry no picture), maybe 30-degree? But once I bent it correctly to fit, I failed to reduce speed of drill motor and stripped one of the self-taping screws which came with the mounting bracket. So, I decided to drill and tap my holes (10-24) and use stainless Allen-head screws. All went well after that, as you can see the finished installation. Wiring and all checked out. Now to purchase a trailer. Thanks etrailer!

Great product. Unfortunately, I fought with the cap on the existing wiring for far too long.
On the back side of the existing wire connector, you’ll find a little tab. It is thin plastic, you can lift that up and slide the connector off of the plug holding it to the undercarriage. This will let you get the cap off of the connector and plug in the new harness.

The product it’s working well, I installed my self per specification and video from etrailer.com and it hasn’t fail. I recommend this product and company.

by:
2009 Honda Pilot

Followed instructions and installed easily. It is difficult to get plastic cap off the wiring harness (the toughest part of the install). Also purchased the metal bracket after reading other reviews. Overall I am very pleased.

by:
Honda Pilot

Completed installation of the Pilot Wiring Kit 118253. I used the lower portion of the Blank to fill the open area. A mount (PK12711U) is used as a backing plate but not attached otherwise. To avoid potential interference assemble the two plug parts then slide as high as possible, then mark and drill two top holes first. Drill bottom holes after securing top bolts.

Very easy to install. Great printed instructions and easy to follow video. It only took 15 mins to install.

by:
2009 Honda Pilot

This product was fantastic! Everything went as expected when installing the wiring harness. All the plugs on the vehicle were exactly where the instructions said they would be, and everything fit good and tight just like an oem product should. The online install video was also a great help. I would highly recommend this to anyone! Make sure and pick up the mounting bracket while your at it, or you'll waste 3hrs of install time trying find one locally (like I did). Thanks for the great product!!
On a side note, if you intend to use a brake controller with your setup, there is an extra fuse you must install to make the brake controller work. None of the instructions for this wiring harness, or the brake controller adapter, said anything about it. In the fuse box under the hood, there is a slot labeled "E. BRAKE 20amp" or something along those lines. The 7-pin hookup will work fine without it, but there has to be a fuse here for the brake controller to work!!

Nearly plug and play. High quality harnesses. Perfect fit in vehicle. Outstanding instructions specific to my 2011 Honda Pilot and Tekonsha controller.

Only improvement I can suggest is a free tech to work in the 100 deg heat instead of me.

A year later I dont even think about the installation or product. Thats how I should feel about wiring. If you have to think about it, its not doing its job. Completely satisfied with the product, and etrailer as a company.

E Wiring kit EZ to install with one exception. The 7 way Receiver does not fit the universal adapter that mounts the the vehicle. You have to drill additional holes. It took twice as long to complete this portion of the job. Why don’t they just include the correct part? Hence the three stars...

Manufacturers typically do not include a mounting bracket for the wire connector because each install looks a little different. My favorite 7-Way Mounting Bracket is part # PK12711U because it is designed with slotted holes, allowing more sizes of 7-way plugs to fit than the brackets that only have a single size configuration.

Product stopped working. Checked fuses, no power to the trailer light. Extremely disappointed. Would not purchase this again, No stars not an option!

I would have thought paying more for the OEM version would have included a bracket. Otherwise I’d have bought the Curt version. It was otherwise plug and play with the videos. Etrailer always has great options and shipping.

2009 Honda Pilot

The product fit the vehicle prefect and installation was very easy, also the instruction sheet provided easy to follow steps and the location of exactly where everything went.

by:

They could not make this easier. Video was straight forward and easy to follow (I did the outside screw mounting method and seems to work just fine and much easier to do). Took me about an hour to pull all tools out, get everything done, and then put everything away. Would have taken much less time but getting the factory harness cap off took some time (they were not kidding that it gets stuck). I finally got it by using a clamp like the video BUT also wedging a flathead screwdriver in the crease and twisting to help pop the cap off.

One question I do have out of curiosity if someone could answer. Why provide the extra 20amp fuse but then we leave the one 20amp brake fuse slot empty? In what scenario would I put the 20amp fuse in that 3rd slot?

Kent

Product number 118253 to be put a 2009 Honda pilot
3 star Way Heather A was right when she said that Tekonsha used heavy gauge wire
I'm unhappy with the inside control box it plug in like OEM but no place to mount the control box. a problem at the factory wire harness plug in I complete remove the factory push pin from the frame and remove the clip from the connection to remove the factory cap the towing wire to it I brought two 7 way bracket mount neither one hole line to this plug and had drill new hole into bracket and still mount it crooked I thought the second one would work I look it up on tekonsha web site it fit better the curt bracket I brought so study the you tube video carefully before you buy

by:
2009 Honda Pilot

Installation was great, especially using the video for guidance. Everything fit just fine into my 2009 Honda Pilot. Like others mentioned, the hardest part was fitting fingers between the bumper and muffler to get a good grip on the factory wire cover...
*Also, I used a burr grinder for my hole and self tapping screws directly into the factory fascia. The 7way is nice and snug. No wiggling. Solid.
If cut and drilled properly, you won't have a need for the metal bracket like other users recommended. It's a nice clean look. Happy hauling.

by:
2014 GMC Savana Van

This took a little time to install all the parts but it was easy and instructions where pretty clear. Once everything was plugged in it workers great. The hardest part of the install is getting the factory cover off the plug underneath. You will need the mounting bracket (not included) I did not order it. I used 4 bolts with large pan head.

by:

Well product is just what I was looking for. The big issue I had was locating the accessory cable from under the dash. Everyone just said look under the dash for a blue taped bundle. Ya right, I had to almost dismantle my dash, just so I could get my big head under the thing. Then it took my over an hour to locate the needed harness from under the dash. It was hiding up at the top of the wire harness out of my reach almost. But other wise the kit was great. Cheaper then OEM and still working.
I would recommend this product to everyone.
