Are Fuses and Relays Needed to Use the Factory Tow Package Wiring on a 2009 Honda Pilot
Question:
2009 Honda Pilot has receiver hitch not sure about towing pkg. Do I need to install fuses and relay or can I just plug this into my factory receptacle behind the bumper and have it work?

Expert Reply:
If your 2009 Honda Pilot has the factory trailer towing receptacle at the rear bumper then all of the tow package fuses and relays should be installed. You should be able to just plug your trailer into the receptacle and have all of the functions working except for the electric trailer brake function.
If you have a trailer with electric brakes you will need a brake controller and wiring adapter to attach the brake controller in the cab of the vehicle. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Brake Controller # 90885 with Honda Ridgeline and Pilot Adapter, # 3070-P. Once the brake controller and wiring adapter are installed and set up the trailer brakes will function through the factory 7-Way connector.
