Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the 4-way harness is located behind the rear bumper. The converter plugs into the factory wiring harness in your cargo area. Once you've plugged in the connectors, insert the included fuses and relay into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Took some effort to install on my 2011 Honda Pilot due to some tight spaces and covers/caps that needed to be removed on 13 yr old vehicle, but product was as described and it works great.

Fantastic product! 4 pole connector with the bracket. Looks and fits like factory oem. The instructions are spot on until you get to the fuses. Installed 3 and 7 as shown and nothing worked. Put 7.5 fuses in 6 and 9 as I read in another review and works great. Etrailer please solve this.My truck is a 2017 2wd sport.

The wiring harness and the instructions were so easy to install. It took me 20 minutes. From ordering the harness to installation was seamless. I will be ordering from etrailer again. Thank you!

2019 Honda Ridgeline

The kit components are excellent, as are the instructions. I just wish I hadn't read all the different articles on the internet before I received my kit. I read something that made me think I needed to remove the entire back of the back seat in my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. After I received my kit and instructions I realized I only had to remove a couple of trim panels on the bottom of the back seat to gain access to the interior module connection. The hardest part was getting that seat back into place...especially without any additional help. It also didn't help that I'm 73 yo. When I brought the Ridgeline I didn't realize it wasn't wired for trailer lights. It comes with a factory installed 'receiver' hitch, but no wiring. So I checked with my friendly Honda Parts man at the dealership. The wiring kit alone was over $400 and I was told it would cost about $300 in labor to have it installed. Even after I paid for expedited shipping on my kit, I still saved about $650. My only regret is that I didn't do any internet research earlier. I Highly recommend the Curt 4-prong flat trailer kit.

I’m giving this a 5 for ease of installation and for the reasonably good instructions. It took a little over 30 minutes, even with the neighbors “helping.” I can’t easily hook it up with the trailer to check the lights at the moment. If things go awry, I’ll revise the rating.

Still working as intended. I have used it with my trailer and with other trailers without incident.

2019 Honda Ridgeline
I would have given
the product a 5 star, it was the installation instructions that were the problem. I had to take out my back seat, luckily I found a YouTube video that helped with that. Also had to add 3 fuses to my fuse box under the hood,(11=20A, 9=20A, 6 & 7=7.5A, and 3=10A) so you will actually fill that box from 3 to 11, 4,5,8,& 10 were factory installed in my Ridgeline RT model. When it didn't work etrailer wanted me to return the unit and get a replacement, which would not have helped and caused me a lot of extra work. I called Curt directly and they knew about the missing fuses right away, worked great after adding fuse 7,10,& 11....by the way the instructions pointed to fuse "6", that was actually fuse 7.

2011 Honda Ridgeline

First, there were issues but in my case all were Honda related.
Issue:
1. The connector behind the rear seat for the module to plug into was secured by Honda with electrical tape, which was very difficult to undo. Space is tight and you have to work by feel. But once the tape is removed the connector is free and connects to the Curt connector but one way, goof proof (a good thing). For the white wire to ground I found a 10 mm bolt with a yellow painted top on the far right (drivers side) that appears to be a back seat mounting bolt and I used it for ground.
2. The Honda connector under the driver side rear bumper must be snapped loose, I used a nail pulling prybar. The plastic splines on the dark blue fastener survived thankfully. Once the whole connector is free I removed the the dark blue fastener with a small blade screw driver as a clip releasing tool. I also used the same small screw driver to remove the protective. cover. After connecting the 4 pole etrailer connector to the Honda ( rear bumper) connector I remounted it using the dark blue fastener by forcing the splines back in the same hole.
3. After all that my trailer lights would not work at all. Once again it was a Honda issue. My Ridgeline was missing fuses 11, 9, 7, 6 and 3. Fuses 7 and 3 come in the kit but without 6 and 9 nothing worked. Installing 6 and 9 fixed everything. Fuse 11 was not needed in my case. Bottom line fuses 3 thru 10 all need to be in place.
4. etrailer folks were instrumental in my discovering the need for fuses 6 and 9 and my hat goes off to them. They were quick (15 minutes) to contact me and suggest several possible solutions, one of which was completely correct.

Could not be happier with this wiring harness. It came with converter, connectors, and every fuse necessary, plus others for different applications. The install instructions were remarkably clear/easy to follow - allowing a very quick installation. Have had Curt harnesses in the past and know the quality. This C56365 is specific to my vehicle. It works well and I expect years of satisfaction because of the quality.

Honda was misleading about their, plug in ready trailer wiring, yea for an additional $350. very happy with your wiring harness for $60 some, the etrailer tech was very helpful.

by:
Honda Ridgeline

The wiring harness works great, but the installation was not easy. A big part of this problem was the Honda Ridgeline, and not the fault of your product. Getting to the area behind the back seat was almost impossible at my age (73). Instructions could have been more helpful too.

This wiring harness kit contained everything to easily hook up the trailer light cable for my Honda Pilot, most especially easy-to-follow directions. A year later and all is well!

by:
2018 Honda Ridgeline

Product, shipping and customer service were fine but the instructions and fuses were not correct. Causing a delay and extra shopping to get the right fuse. Naturally
a whole package was the only way to get one fuse. I feel these should have been included because the kit covered two vehicles. I had lots of unneeded items for the other vehicle but none to complete mine.

by:

I needed a part relatively quickly and although other sites offer overnight shipping the problem was they would take days to ship it. I think when people hear overnight shipping, they expect to get it quickly. I ordered on ETrailer and then called and they were confident they could get it out that night, mind you it was 4:30ish, and I got the shipping confirm a little bit later and the part was to me the next day. That was what I really needed but not to mention their customer service was great as well.

Product arrived sooner than expected. Instructions were spot on although I had a tough time finding the Honda end of the connector behind the back seat. It was there but hard to find. Found a good ground point and didn’t have to drill a hole. No cutting and everything fit as described. Good product.

2017 Honda Ridgeline

Product fit great and works great. Had a problem getting the lights to work but I went to your website and found out that Honda did not have all the fuses installed

by:

Pretty easy instructions to follow, but not much room for bigger hands. Instructions, or number of fuses, needs to be updated for newer model. I had to go buy additional fuses, and since they are the smaller low profile fuses, only 1per pack, had to buy two packs, so now plenty of extra fuses.

Fast delivery. Installed in my 2011 Honda Pilot in less than 30 minutes. Easy installation with complete illustrated instructions specific for my vehicle. Very pleased with the product.

by:
2019 Honda Ridgeline

I would give you five stars, but nothing worked until I added the extra fuses that other reviewers discussed. I would have been lost without those other reviews. Why not include the other 2 fuses for the Ridgeline and include the information in the instructions?

T-Connector installed without a hitch!!! Thank you etrailer for your prompt service and shipping.

You did quite a bit of troubleshooting and homework on this so I commend you for that!
