When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Electric reverse lockout with solenoid is automatically activated when the tow vehicle is shifted into reverse. To use this feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round or 7-pole wiring harness.

This is exactly what wa advertised and arrived quicker than I thought, especially since it is during the holidays when shipping always takes longer.

The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the packaging, the actuator really needs to be packed in something more ridgid that cardboard. My actuator arrived with the 2 pins on the cylinder bracket bent (looks like it may have been dropped during shipping). I didn't contact the seller as the last one that I ordered (from another vendor) arrived the same way and for me it is easyer to repair it that return it.

by:

Delivered fast and as promised. Some damage in shipping. a broken grease fitting and the lockout solenoid was cracked but still works.

Actuator arrived very quickly after order via UPS. Part was as described and the online instructions and manual for installation were extremely helpful. Thanks etrailer. I will use etrailer for all my trailering needs!

by:

The mounting tab was slightly bent in shipping so the installation was a little tough by myself. Just had to bend it back and needed four hands. The product overall is a direct replacement of the unit I am replacing so I am expecting it to function flawlessly.

by:

Have not installed it yet but the service from etrailer is great.
They have everything you need and the expertise to get you what you need the 1st time.

  • Recommended Coupler Lock for the Titan Model 20 Brake Actuator
I do have an option for you but the release handle on the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T4750720 is going to limit the use of some coupler locks like the MegaHitch Lock Coupler Vault Pro part # UF35-946510. Instead, I recommend the Blaylock EZ Lock Trailer Coupler Lock part # BLTL-33-40D. In order to break though this lock you would have to cut though a 3/4" thick hardened steel pin which is easier said than done. This would require power tools but if a would-be thief does have...

  • Replacement Titan Surge Brake Actuator for Boat Trailer with Tie Down Actuator
You certainly can substitute another brand of actuator on your boat trailer to replace the Tie Down unit on it now. Titan products are built to a very high standard and one of their compatible couplers will let you get the most out of your new brakes. Click on the link provided to see our main page for surge brake actuators. Use the filters on the page to select the coupler mounting type you need (such as a-frame or straight), ball size, weight capacity and disc or drum brakes. (The 70LC...

  • Replacement Coupler Recommendation for Titan Model 20
How did the trailer become uncoupled? Was the latch not secured on the ball? If so then the coupler sounds like it needs to be replaced. For that we have the Titan Model 20 as part # T4750720.

  • Is Lockout Solenoid Included With Titan Brake Actuator Coupler # T4750700
The Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator, part # T4750700 you referenced does not have a solenoid included. There are three types of systems you can choose from. Either a system like part # T4750700 that has no solenoid, a coupler with manual lockout, or brake couplers with an electric solenoid lockout. If you are wanting a brake coupler with an electric lockout I recommend the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop Electric Lockout, part # T4750720. This has the same features as the coupler...

  • Can the Titan Model 20 Brake Actuator be Used for Triple Axle Trailer with Disc Brakes on All Axles
You could use the Titan actuator # T4750720 for 6 brake assemblies. You might want to switch to a larger diameter brake line though. That will help with braking power and response time. You could possibly put on brakes on the third axle as long as it has brake mounting flanges already in place. Otherwise you would have to have flanges welded on. This is a precision job that requires a special jig and someone with experience in welding on flanges. I have included a link to the right that...

  • Replacement Master Cylinder Cap for Titan Model 20 Surge Brake Actuator Coupler T4750720
Titan Surge Actuator # T4750720 is their model 20 and for this unit's master cylinder you will use replacement cap # T4830601. On the page I linked you will find this and all other Titan replacement parts just in case you need other items in the future.

  • Replacement Options for Titan Model 20 Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes
You can replace your old Titan Model 20 with the current version of this brake actuator. If you do not need an electric lockout the correct replacement is the # T4750700. If you need an electric lockout, or would like to add it while you're redoing the trailer, then you can use the # T4750720. If you are adding electric lockout you will also need to add a 5-way to the trailer like the # HM47900 as well as the Curt Adapter # C57187 on your vehicle.

  • Recommended Hydraulic Disc Brakes for Dexter 7,000 Pound Axles
For the 7,000 pound Dexter axles on your 5th Wheel Camper, I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR79E. This kit is designed for 7,000 pound axles, 16 inch and larger wheels and features an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. The kit includes 2 full brake assemblies (rotor-and-hub assemblies, cast iron calipers, caliper-mounting brackets and caliper-mounting bolts). • What Hardware is Needed To Install Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator On Trailer Tongue
To bolt the Titan Model 20 to your trailer tongue you want to use 2- 5/8" by 4" grade 5 bolts, nuts and lock washers. If the tongue is a light weight tongue (narrower than 3" wide) you want to use spacer tubes inside for reinforcement when bolting on the actuator. I have attached a diagram of the standard mounting bolt pattern.

  • Will Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System Work with UFP Surge Brake Actuator A-160
From my research the UFP A-160 actuator cannot be used with a weight distribution system so you won't be able to use the Reese Steadi-Flex, part # RP66560. In order to use any weight distribution system I recommend replacing your actuator with an updated unit like the Titan # T4750720. The Titan works with disc brakes, has a higher capacity than your UFP, and even matches the same bolt hole dimensions. Since the straight-tongue trailer you also will need a pole tongue adapter to use...

  • Parts Needed to Convert Trailer with 7,000 Pound Axles from Drum Brakes to Hydraulic Disc Brakes
An excellent brake kit for your 7,000 pound axles is the Kodiak # K2HR712. You'll need inner bearing # 25580 and outer # 14125A. Also seal # RG06-070. These disc brakes have a raw finish and an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern. Since you have a tandem axle trailer, # T4830000 will be the brake line kit for you. If you're going to install electric over hydraulic brakes, the HydraStar # HBA16 is a what we recommend for an actuator. If your brakes will be just hydraulic disc brakes, then use...

  • Disc Brake Kit Recommendation for Boat Trailer with 6k Axles
Based on what you listed as having on your trailer axle the Kodiak Disc brake kit part # K2HR526D that you listed would be the correct kit. Since you said saltwater you might be more interested in the kit that has stainless steel rotors, calipers, and mounting brackets # K2HR526DS. You'll need to swap to a disc braker compatible surge brake actuator as well though since they require higher psi ratings than drum. If your concern is because combined their capacity only equals 14,000 pounds that's not a problem because you have to keep in mind that part of the trailer's weight will be on the hitch. One of our most popular disc brake kits is the Kodiak # K2HR79E. It's for 7,000 pound axles, like yours and has a 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern. For the brake lines you can use # HS496-252.
