Axle Ratings and Parts Needed to Convert to Disc Brakes for Trailer with Tandem 7,000 Pound Axles
Question:
Do I need to upgrade my twin 7000lbs axles in my trailer empty weight UVW is 14250lbs and the GVWR is 16800lbs. we are also looking into disc brake conversion kits.

As long as there is nothing wrong with your current axles there is no need to replace them. If your concern is because combined their capacity only equals 14,000 pounds that's not a problem because you have to keep in mind that part of the trailer's weight will be on the hitch.
One of our most popular disc brake kits is the Kodiak # K2HR79E. It's for 7,000 pound axles, like yours and has a 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern. For the brake lines you can use # HS496-252.
If you're converting to electric-over-hydraulic disc brakes I recommend the HydraStar Actuator # HBA16. It's a definite favorite among our installers here. If you're converting to hydraulic brakes you can use the Titan # T4750720. The Titan is a bolt-on actuator that includes a coupler rated up to 20,000 pounds.
