This base plate's hidden design creates a clean and seamless look. The bracket arms are easily removable, creating a slick appearance when you're not flat towing. Because the arms can be removed, you also won't have to worry about banging your leg into any protruding arms when you walk by.
Attaching and removing the bracket arms is a breeze. To attach the arms to the base plate, simply insert them into the receivers and rotate them until they lock into place. Once you're finished towing and want to remove the arms, pull the pin to disengage the lock, rotate the arms, and remove them from the receivers. Finally, plug up the now empty receivers with the included receiver covers to help keep dirt and debris out of the base plate and provide a finished look.
Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.
There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.
The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

I have had these quick connect base plates on my ford expedition for a year now and they have worked with no issues. Currently I am writing this review from Bryce Canyon National Park were we towed our ford over 2400 miles without issue. The only negative feedback I would give is the power coding is starting to come off around the safety hook loops. Hopefully this issue has been addressed in later versions. I do enjoy using etrailer and will use them again for sure.
The baseplate and tail light installation was pretty straight forward. My son has a lift in his garage which definitely aided getting everything installed including routing the breakaway switch and light wiring. As always etrailer was great!
My kit arrived a day before it was supposed to. With the detailed instructions it was so easy to install this kit myself. I used it the very next day to pull my truck it works great.

Blue Ox is a Functionally excellent product. After a year all the paint is gone and the rusty base plates make my SUV (towed/daily driver) look like crap (2017 Expedition). And i wish they were more subtle appearance.
These are well made and stronger than I thought they would be. With the installation video I feel I can do the job easily.

Great no issues at all
The equipment, shipping, and videos from etrailer were top notch. Took me about 2 hours to do the whole install. Saved a ton of money doing it myself. Thanks!!
Apparently the very-qualified shop had quite a time installing these on my 2018 F-150 Limited (adaptive cruise control and other issues...), but they work wonderfully! I have towed the truck several times now with them on, and no problems whatsoever. Once at the destination, the chrome part comes off, and it's almost like they aren't even there. Other than installation (which is more an issue with my truck than the part itself), they're pretty much perfect.
This base plate assembly was simple to install and is easy to connect to the tow bar.
Absolutely love this base plate system. Bolted right on my 2018 ford F150 as the instructions said it would.
It was a wonderful experience. He assisted in buying my purchase for rv and the truck to be able to have all necessary equipment needed.

The baseplate and associated electrical parts are all working perfectly one year after installation on my 2013 F-150
