Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2020 Ford F-150
Question:
We have a new Class C motorhome w/7500lb towing capacity. I want to tow our 2020 F150 Lariat 4x4 Crew Cab. The owners manual has instructions for flat towing. Weight wise, Im fine at 5950lbs empty but will likely add 1000 lbs of gear when we trave. I need to know what parts I need and who/where I can get it installed. I also know if there is a complete kit available rather than purchasing parts separately. As for brand, I understand Blue Ox is a leader, but Curt and Roadmaster are certainly options. Looking forward to your reply.

Hey Clyde, so we have all the parts you need to flat tow your 2020 Ford F-150 but we don't have them all in a package that is a single part number. The first thing you will need is a base plate kit which for that the Blue Ox part # BO74FR is the best option that's the easiest to use.
In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. One of the most popular compatible tow bars is the Blue Ox Avail # BX7420 which comes with safety cables. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
I attached a link on this page that will take you to a page that will help you find a local installer.

We are now looking at a different vehicle. The 2024 Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid is flat towable. ?? Curb weight is <4000. We also need the bra that goes with the car since we will be purchasing a new one. What parts on your previous reply needs to change?
