Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2004 Saturn Vue

Question:

I have a blue ox system on my motor home and purchased a 2004 Saturn as a tow behind. It already has a base plate. I need the tabs to connect the two. But I do not know what link tab I need. Any suggestions? Thank you

The brand and model of base plate on your 2004 Saturn Vue will determine whether any adapters are needed to connect your tow bar to those base plates. All base plates for the various versions of this vehicle are displayed on the linked page; use the drop-down "Select Vehicle Style" menu tool at the top of the page to choose your version and you will then see only the base plates that fit it.

If you have different brands of base plate and tow bar an adapter kit will likely be needed to join the two. Once you know which base plates and tow bar you have you can tell me and I can the determine if any other parts are needed.

For reference I also included an article on flat towing that includes all of the components needed to tow in this manner both safely and legally. These include a tow bar, safety cables, base plates, a high/low hitch adapter, a wiring/lighting kit and a braking system in the towed car.

Also for reference please note that page 4-46 of the online owner's manual for your 2004 Saturn Vue indicates that "Any all-wheel drive vehicles or front-wheel drive vehicles equipped with the VTi transaxle should not be towed with all four wheels on the ground." You will want to ensure your specific Vue is flat-towable; you can check with a local dealership using the car's VIN.
