eZ-Latch Coupler
This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole on the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole on the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.
Sturdy, Corrosion-Resistant Construction
Made of sturdy steel, this coupler features a durable zinc coating that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This finish has a 300-hour salt spray rating, allowing it to stand up to the elements.
The eZ-Latch's sleek, ergonomically designed handle is constructed of an impact-resistant polymer-nylon-resin compound that provides the flexibility and strength needed to bounce back from a collision. Today we're going to take a look at the Demco easy-latch trailer coupler with the five-position adjustable channel, designed to fit onto a 2-and-5/16ths hitch ball, and has a 21,000 pound weight capacity. This cast-ball coupler right here will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle, provides the connection point for your hitch ball, does use the easy-latch mechanism which will ensure simple and secure hook-up and disconnect. Basically, it lets you hook up when the latch is in the closed position, just like that. You just drop this coupler over the hitch ball, and the latch will snap into place. All you have to do is when the coupler drops over, you can see it automatically lifts up and locks right into place, and you're all ready to go. To remove it, just lift up on the easy-latch handle, and it releases it just like that. Very simple hook up. Now the latch itself, the easy latch, is a corrosion-proof polymer nylon resin composite latch handle. It's very durable and impact resistant. You can see it's a nice, sleek, low profile design, so it allows hazards to simply slip over the top of the coupler, preventing any damage to the latch components. Now the channel bracket that it attaches to, this will allow you to adjust the coupler's height to match different tow vehicles.
You can see the six mounting holes on each side of the bracket will offer you five different mounting positions. Basically, you just slide that in the inside and then connect it with your bolts to whatever position you need. The adjustable channel bracket will weld onto your trailer. Basically, you'll just bolt the coupler to the bracket using these included Grade 5 bolts and nuts. The four-bolt attachment will provide secure, rattle-free connection.
I also include two gussets, which when do weld this to your trailer, you can see you can use the two gussets to give you additional support. This is all a nice, sturdy steel construction that has a zinc finish here on the coupler, offers corrosion resistance, meets a 300-hour salt spray rating. It is all SAEJ684 certified. Again, the ball size this fits on is a 2-and-5/16ths diameter. Weight capacity is 21,000 pounds. Give you a few dimensions. We'll start with the channel bracket.
The overall height on the bracket is right at 12 inches tall, and the inside width is going to be right at 3 inches. The thickness of it is a half-inch, and the mounting holes, the six mounting holes, are going to be right on 2-inch centers. Now on the coupler, dimensions on that. Overall length, very front to very back, is going to be right at 8-and-1/8th inches long. The overall width is going to be right at 2-and-7/8ths inches wide. Now it does have a lock pinhole. This little hole right here, it's a 5/16ths diameter. You can put a pin through there to lock that latch into place, to keep it from being removed. It will require a pin lock that has a minimum length of 3 inches to go through here. The coupler that came with our teardrop did the job, but getting hooked up and secure on the ball was a real pain that would take multiple attempts to reposition it before it dropped fully in place. I like the Demco eZ-latch. So much better. I uploaded 3 photos: 1) original coupler, 2) trailer frame with new holes drilled and old holes filled with Bondo, 3) Demco coupler in place. The changeover was very easy.

It is the best used yo have a the older style i was always worried if it had latched correctly but with this latch system I dont have to do anything i dont even have to see it i can just hear it click when its latching on its own and i know its right dont forget to buy the pin for it i have actually bought two one for each of my trailers

The hitch is excellent for our 14,000lb equipment trailer.
Only issue is the hole for the padlock was too small for any locks and we drilled it out to accommodate one.
Con- Shipping was not very good. It was returned to the dealer twice because it was sent via United Postal Service and our shop has not Post office box. Only a location address. The USPS does not take packages to our location. We could not seem to get the package sent via UPS or FedEx to us.
Only time this has happened when ordering from etrailer.

I didn’t use the bolts it came with. Just got two grade 8 bolts like my pj trailer came with, easier to adjust.

Very good quality, construction, and finish. This was used to replace a 5000# rated coupler on my RV trailer that was just not strong enough. It has an extra 2-3" of length than the old coupler so make sure your safety chains have enough length to accommodate the extra length. One bonus for me was that the extra length was just enough to allow me to open the back door of my SUV with the trailer hitched (which I couldn't do before). The DEMCO coupler does take a 2 1/2" wide hitch pin /lock which is different than most couplers.

Heavy duty for sure. Drilling 1/2” holes in 1/4” thick angle iron on the trailer required more than a hand drill, but other than that installation was simple. Removing the original coupler was a chore because it was welded on both top and bottom. I had to use a hacksaw (3 blades), 2 lb mallet, large crowbar, steel chisel, grinder. Fortunately I had all that, and I’m very pleased with the result.

When my old coupler failed I was very happy to find a bolt on coupler this heavy as most are weld on for a trailer this heavy. I wish I would have changed the coupler years ago. I always had trouble with the old one. This one is so easy to latch and unlatch from my truck. It is great quality.

Still functioning as it should be. Not one complaint! Built heavy duty! Formed channel is 12” thick and formed perfectly! Beautiful!
