This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole on the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole on the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco E-Z Latch Trailer Coupler with this 5 position adjustable channel. It fits a 2 and 5/16 diameter hitch ball and has a 21,000 pound weight capacity. This cast ball coupler lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle, provides a connection point for the hitch ball. It does use this easy latch mechanism, which will ensure simple secure hook up and disconnect. This will let you hook up when the latch is in the closed position, just like it is now. Basically you just drop the coupler over the hitch ball and the latch will snap into place. I want to demonstrate that.
I happened to pull, here's a 2 and 5/16 diameter hitch ball. You can see when the coupler goes on top of the ball it'll just automatically fall into place. The latch pops open and then latch is closed. It's locked, ready to go. To remove it from the ball all you have to do is lift up on the easy latch.
Disconnects very simple. This latch, this easy latch is a corrosion proof polymer nylon resin composite latch handle. It's very durable and impact resistant. If you notice on the coupler it gives it a nice sleek low profile design, so that will allow any hazards to simply slip over the top of the coupler, preventing any damage to these latch components. The channel bracket that it attaches to, this allows you to adjust the coupler's height to match different tow vehicles. You can see there's 6 mounting holes on each side of the bracket, so it gives you about 5 different mounting positions.
You can see the coupler will go right down in there, and then just use your nuts and bolts to put it at whatever height you need. This adjustable channel bracket will weld onto your trailer, and then you bolt your coupler to the bracket with the 4 included grade 5 bolts and nuts. The 4 bolt attachment will provide a nice secure rattle-free connection. If you notice there's 2 triangular pieces here. These are the gussets.
Basically what those are used for is when this is welded to your trailer, to give you extra support you just use the gussets, one on each side to give you that extra support. This is all a sturdy steel construction. Now, on the coupler itself it has a nice silver powder coat finish on it, gives you excellent corrosion resistance. Meets about a 500 hour salt spray rating, so it is great for marine use. Does also meet the SAEJ684 certification. The ball sizing in this fits a 2 and 5/16 diameter. The weight capacity is 21,000 pounds. I do want to give you some dimensions. We're going to start with the channel bracket itself. Overall height on the adjustable bracket is 12 inches. The width, which is the inside width is going to be right at 3 inches. The thickness of it is 1/2 inch. Then the mounting holes, they are at 2 inch centers. Center to center from one hole to the other is 2 inches. On the coupler itself, the coupler length from here to here is going to be right at 8 1/8 inches long. The width of it is going to be right at 2 7/8 inches wide. It does have a pin hole for a lock right here so that you can put a pin lock through there to keep the latch from anybody removing it from your hitch ball. The diameter of that lock pin hole is 5/16 of an inch, and the minimum length of the pin lock that you need for this is a 3 inch minimum length. That should do it for the review on the Demco E-Z Latch Trailer Coupler with this 5 position adjustable channel for a 2 5/16 hitch ball and has a 21,000 pound weight capacity.

Hardware included.Have not installed yet, but seems to be very well made, heavy casting and extremely thick channel, only thing im not completely sold on is the plastic latch handle, time will tell on that.
Packaged poorly, parts missing, probably lost when box fell apart and was taped back up.
One of the nicest couplers I’ve ever hooked on to!! My ONLY concern is that it has a plastic flip lever on it….BUT even that has held up well! Beyond heavy duty !!! Highly recommended!

The coupler that came with our teardrop did the job, but getting hooked up and secure on the ball was a real pain that would take multiple attempts to reposition it before it dropped fully in place. I like the Demco eZ-latch. So much better. I uploaded 3 photos: 1) original coupler, 2) trailer frame with new holes drilled and old holes filled with Bondo, 3) Demco coupler in place. The changeover was very easy.
It is the best used yo have a the older style i was always worried if it had latched correctly but with this latch system I dont have to do anything i dont even have to see it i can just hear it click when its latching on its own and i know its right dont forget to buy the pin for it i have actually bought two one for each of my trailers
Great upgrade to my heavy trailers. Would be 5 stars if the locking pin hole would accept a larger diameter lock or a padlock.
The hitch is excellent for our 14,000lb equipment trailer.
Only issue is the hole for the padlock was too small for any locks and we drilled it out to accommodate one.
Con- Shipping was not very good. It was returned to the dealer twice because it was sent via United Postal Service and our shop has not Post office box. Only a location address. The USPS does not take packages to our location. We could not seem to get the package sent via UPS or FedEx to us.
Only time this has happened when ordering from etrailer.
The ease of latching and not having to lift the latch handle is very nice and unlachine it's a breeze, works very well very happy with the coupler
Was the perfect part to replace the pintle hitch that was previously on my 15K trailer.
Very good quality, construction, and finish. This was used to replace a 5000# rated coupler on my RV trailer that was just not strong enough. It has an extra 2-3" of length than the old coupler so make sure your safety chains have enough length to accommodate the extra length. One bonus for me was that the extra length was just enough to allow me to open the back door of my SUV with the trailer hitched (which I couldn't do before). The DEMCO coupler does take a 2 1/2" wide hitch pin /lock which is different than most couplers.
I’m a 75 year old disabled woman who was about to give up traveling due to the efforts to hitch and unhitch my trailer. I got this new hitch installed and it changed my life; it is effortless. I’m on the beach now while a winter storm is raging around the U.S. thank you so much for a hitch that changed my life.
I didn’t use the bolts it came with. Just got two grade 8 bolts like my pj trailer came with, easier to adjust.
