This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
Unlike most couplers, which only have a pin hole on the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole on the latch and on the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.

Today we're going to be taking a look at a Demco trailer coupler. This is a cast-ball coupler that lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. It's going to provide a connection point for a hitch ball. This one's designed for a two and five sixteenths in ch ball. This unit's going to feature the easy latch mechanism. It's going to ensure simple, secure hook-up and disconnect. What that means is, all you have to do is simply drop the coupler over the ball, even with the latch in the closed position.
Everything's going to engage automatically. The latch is going to snap into place, it's going to engage around the hitch ball. That way why don't have to have it open. You can if you want to, that's totally your preference. The neat thing about this one, one of the main benefits, is with the latch in the closed position, you can drop it over the hitch ball and it engages automatically. When it comes to mounting, it's going to use an adjustable channel mount design.
That's going to allow you to change the coupler's height depending on the application. Channel bracket mounting hardware is sold separately. We want to recommend using hardware kit, part number DM6166. That'll give you everything that you need to get this installed onto an adjustable bracket or a channel mount bracket. It's going to feature a black powdered coated finish. It's going to do a great job at resisting rusting, corrosion and lasting a long time. It actually features a 500 hour salt spray rating, which is going to make it great for marine applications. It is SAEJ684 certified. This is designed for a three inch wide channel bracket. It's going to accept a two and five sixteenth hitch ball.
The weight capacity for this unit is 21 000 pounds. now, taking a look at a few dimensions real quick. Starting with the overall length, that's going to give us a measurement of eight and one eighth of an inch long. Again, designed for a three inch wide channel bracket, so the width back here is just under three inches, it's about two and seven eighths. That way it fits perfectly inside that bracket. You'll notice that on the unit, it's going to feature two lock-pin holes. That way you can use a coupler lock or a coupler pin and lock. Or a pin and clip. Your going to have a coupler area right here for a pin. The diameter of the lock-pin holes on the unit are going to measure five sixteenths of an inch. If you're going to use this one right here, which would just lock the latch, that's going to need a usable pin length, or a span of one and one eighth of an inch. There's also one down here, which would keep the wedge from actually operating. Which is going to be great for you're unattended trailer, making sure nobody runs off with your trailer. The usable pin length, or span needed for using this location would be three inches. Coupler pins and clips and pins and locks are sold separately. Only issue is the hole for the padlock was too small for any locks and we drilled it out to accommodate one.
Con- Shipping was not very good. It was returned to the dealer twice because it was sent via United Postal Service and our shop has not Post office box. Only a location address. The USPS does not take packages to our location. We could not seem to get the package sent via UPS or FedEx to us.
Only time this has happened when ordering from etrailer.
The ease of latching and not having to lift the latch handle is very nice and unlachine it's a breeze, works very well very happy with the coupler
Great product! This thing's built like a tank. We're always pulling the heaviest things possible with our trailers and this stands up to the job.
Was very easy to install. I did have to grind a bit off the back so I could get clearance for the bolt holes to line up. Only took about 30 min to install.

This hitch works great, easy on and latches automatically. When unhooking the hitch doesnt get hooked on the ball.
I ordered an easy latch trailer coupler in silver, about two days later I got a call and was told that silver was out of stock, but I could get sent black. I agreeed to black instead of silver. However when I received my trailer coupler it was a whole different model. I did not have time to send it back, however not the greatest to receive something different than what I ordered.

The coupler would come loose unless it was pinned before I loaded my tractor on the trailer. This coupler stays open when hooking up and closed when in use.
