Hello neighbors, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at the replacement SKS Lock Core for the Yakima racks and carrier, specifically Core #A145. Now folks, if you're not familiar, SKS or same key system is a lock cylinder to lock all your Yakima products to be keyed alike, so you just use one key to unlock everything. And that being said, this does fit key #A145, just like the engraving here on the core, it says A145. That key is sold separately. You must purchase it separately.
And again, this is just one, I repeat, one replacement lock core. I do want you to know, you will also need, if you don't already have one, what's called a control key, for the Yakima SKS or same key system. So to change these cores out, just like most other brands we carry as well, you have to have what's called a change key. A lot of people think it's a master key or something magical like that. It is not.
What it is, is really just a tool. It's just shaped like a key. You must have this guy unlocked with the matching key number. You take that key out, you insert the change key. That change key goes in here and acts like a tool to then push it in place, it rotates enough to lock in place, and then you can pull the change key out.
And then you can lock it with the matching key and then it's set in there nice, safe, and snug and secure. So again, that change key and the actual key are sold separately. This, again, is just the SKS Lock Core. Well folks, thanks for watching. I know it's a lot of information.

Or are there ways to use your old key? I have no idea. Why wouldn’t you put a piece of paper with a few words

You cannot buy specific lock core numbers in bulk but somehow eTrailer was able to provide them with matching numbers and all work perfectly. Nicely done!
These are way over priced by ALL retailers, so etrailer is price competitive. If you need to get specific lock cores, etrailer sent them new and as described. I escaped some headache, had a great transaction, and had a quick delivery with this company.

This part is only the replacement lock core that uses the A145 Yakima key. Are you using it to add a lock core to a Yakima part? If yes, then you will need to use a change key part # Y8007835. We also carry they key part # Y8772-A145 if needed.
