Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the Valterra Rubber Tank Grommet. Now this is going to be the connection point between the toilet on your RV, and the outside pipe or your holding tank for that. So, it's going to seal everything up and make sure that you don't have any kind of leaks or anything. Now this does require a hose clamp, to make sure that everything seals properly. That is not included, so you will have to pick that up separately.
We have hose clamps available here at etrailer.Com, if you want to pick some up to complete your install. But basically, what we'll need to know for this that it is for use with polyethylene holding tanks. It's made of a durable rubber construction, so it's going to conform to the size of our pipe and fit around there. We'll have this nice thick flange to hold it in place on our housing.And as far as the size, this opening here at the bottom, or the top, is going to be 3" in diameter. The outside diameter is going to be 3 7/8" so it works with tank holes that are 3 7/8" wide.
It's going to be the same for the other side, about 3 7/8" for the outside diameter there. The inside diameter is roughly 3 3/4, or excuse me, 3.5" wide. The overall length is about 2". The space in between that double walled flange there is about 1/4". And that's going to do it for our look at the Valterra Rubber Tank Grommet.

- Is Sealant Required for the Replacement Rubber Grommet for RV Black Water TanksIn order to help prevent leaking between the grommet and tank on the Replacement Rubber Grommet for RV Black Water Tanks part # F02-2106 it would be wise to use a sealant like part # LT37467 between the two surfaces. I am not sure if this is a requirement or not but it won't hurt. That said, you wouldn't need any sealant for the pipe side, just a hose clamp like part # H03-0018.

You'd have to measure and verify before ordering either the 3 inch # F02-2106 or the larger size # F02-2103. Since the 3 inch size is the most common one there's a very likely possibility that's the size you need.

Nevertheless, it seems that a Valtera # F02-2106 Replacement Rubber Grommet would fix you right up. I think I would spring for some new Valterra # H03-0018 hose clamps. If you find that you have 3-1/2" connections (rather than 3") then the Valterra # F02-2103 coupler will be needed. Otherwise you will be ready for the Valterra # T18A waste valve.
