Thank you for your review. This bolt is only designed for Thule T2 Classic platform bike racks. If the adapter you have is for another Thule bike rack besides the T2 this bolt will not work.

    The bolt size of the # 8537012 is 1/2 inch -13 UNC as we have verified that with Thule. The confusion I believe is that a 3/4 inch wrench is used to loosen/tighten it, but the diameter of the bolt where the threads are is 1/2 inch.

    If you have a Thule Snug Tite # THSTL2 the correct replacement hitch pin would be the part # 853-5917 actually and not the bolt you mentioned. The # THSTL2 is a very secure setup though. If somehow you could use a bolt with threads on the other end of it like the one you mentioned it wouldn't be any more secure than what came with the # THSTL2.
