Would Longer Bolt Replacing THSTL2 Be More Secure than Pin that Came with It
Question:
Does the longer bolt make this STL2 safer than the original Snug-tite, which went through only one side of the hitch?

If you have a Thule Snug Tite # THSTL2 the correct replacement hitch pin would be the part # 853-5917 actually and not the bolt you mentioned. The # THSTL2 is a very secure setup though. If somehow you could use a bolt with threads on the other end of it like the one you mentioned it wouldn't be any more secure than what came with the # THSTL2.
