  • Vehicle Specific

Streamline the installation of your trailer brake controller with this custom adapter. Simply connect the wires of the harness to your brake controller and then plug the other end into the junction box beneath your vehicle's dash.

Features:

  • Pigtail wiring adapter eases installation of your electric trailer brake controller
  • Connector end plugs into the built-in port beneath the dash of your vehicle
  • Wire end connects to the wires on your brake controller with the included butt connectors
    • Compatible with time-delayed and proportional brake controllers from TrailerMate, Draw-Tite, and Tekonsha
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Installation of Tekonsha Brake Controller Adapter

To install your electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. When this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller.

Installation 1Installation 2

This adapter plugs into the port that is built into the electric junction box beneath your vehicle's dash. The black box is located to the left of the steering column, just above the carpet. To plug in the adapter, first remove the cover on the box. The adapter plugs into the second slot from the left, on the top row.

To hook this adapter up to your trailer brake controller, just connect the 4 wires of the harness - ground, power, brake switch, and brake power - to the corresponding wires on the brake controller. If your brake controller came with a plug built into its wiring harness, you will have to cut off the plug and connect to the wires themselves.

This unit works very well. Was able to position it on the dash for convenience with out looking like an add on.

etrailer and especially Alex's customer support have been stellar. I needed precise information and help with setting up a new tow vehicle. Alex provided details about brake controllers that started from the ground up and got me into a no nonsense controller that is plug and play. I have not had time to install it yet but it's on my to do list this week as well as installing the new mirrors I also purchased a few weeks back. etrailer gets 5 stars plus!

by:

Delivered on time and the right parts

by:

This was very easy to install and wire up. What was not easy was figuring out why I can manually apply my trailer brakes but they do not work when I use the brake pedal. Apparently this is common with early 2000’s GM trucks. The technical people at etrailer were unable to help and I was stuck doing it on my own. Disappointed.

by:

Easy to install and so glad that I have it!!

by:
2005 Cadillac Escalade

This item fit my 2005 Escalade perfectl y.

by:

Perfect match, and the instructions were exact. I installed the controller in less than 1/2 hour

The video comparing controllers was very helpful also.

Thank you

by:

Instructions are poor needs a diagram with what wire go's where and instructions that tell you this. As they are now you can only be sure about 2 wires.

Best brake controller money can buy

by:
Chevrolet Suburban

Excellent product. Fit my suburban perfectly and made of high quality.

by:
Chevrolet Tahoe

This was a great replacement for the factory wiring. The OEM wiring that came with the Tahoe was about three times longer than it needed to be. This replacement was the perfect length. The connector fit perfectly. The wire gauge was heavier duty than the OEM. The only things I didn't use in the kit were the crimp connectors. I chose to solder.

by:
2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Fast shipping and overall quality is great! Would have loved to have had a wiring diagram shipped with the harness but was able to find that online. If I need any additional towing items I'll be stopping at etrailer.com first!

by:
2006 Chevrolet Avalanche

Exactly as advertised. I used this unit to create a plug-and-play installation for my new TowPro Elite Trailer Brake Controller. Item arrived exactly as advertised, was exact fit for my 2006 Chevy Avalanche.

2000 Chevrolet Silverado

It was exactly what I needed and made it very simple to hook up my brake control.

by:

Haven't installed it yet, but I'm sure it will work. As usual wth etrailer, easy look up, quick delivery, quality products at very good price. Will keep using them and highly recommend.

  • Amperage Capacity for Power Wire on a Factory 7 Way on a 2009 Chevy Suburban
Typically, the power wire on a factory 7 way is on a 40amp circuit with a fuse or breaker somewhere near the fuse block. Sometimes it can be a 30amp circuit. If you are going to be running more than 30amps, I would call the service department at the dealer you got it from and find out for sure. You could also give the fuse block a quick check to see if it is clearly identified.

Yes. you are correct! You will connect the Tekonsha # 3015-S to the brake controller wires on your RedArc Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR matching them color for color. You can then plug the end of the adapter into the brake controller port on your 2003 Hummer H2.

  • Tekonsha Voyager Not Lighting on a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 25800
If the brake pin on the truck connector has power all the time, there may be something wrong on the truck. It may also be in the wrong port on the junction box. There are at least 2 ports that the plug will fit into, but only one of them is the right port. As you look at the junction box, you need to use the port on the top row, second from the far left. I have added a link to an article on installing a brake controller on 1999-2007 GM trucks with a brake controller port. One of these...

  • Universal Wiring Adapter for a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller Installed on a 2004 Chevy Suburban
Part # 3015-P, comes with a plug on each end, one for the brake controller on specific Tekonsha models and one for the vehicle. Since the Tekonsha Voyager does not have the plug on the back, you can use part # 3015-S. One end has a plug for your vehicle and the other end has loose wires for you to splice into the Voyager. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything else I can assist you with.

  • Trailer Right Turn Signal Does Not Worked Towed by 2004 Chevy Tahoe
On a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, the right turn signal/brake light fuse for the factory tow package will be labeled RT TRLR ST/TRN. It should be in the instrument panel fuse block located on the driver side in the cab. This is according to a copy of the owners manual I found online. Check your owners manual to be sure. If you change the fuse and it does not help then there are some tests you can do to determine what might be causing the issue. Start by disconnecting the trailer from the vehicle....

  • Can a Proportional Brake Controller Be Mounted Sideways
Unfortunately in order for the accelerometer to work correctly, proportional controllers like the # 39510 Voyager need to be installed on a level plane on a side to side axis pointing in the direction of travel. The Voyager isn't the controller I'd recommend anyway, it isn't very user-friendly and therefore pretty difficult for the novice to use effectively. It sounds like the idea of having a brake controller hanging from the underside of the dash doesn't thrill you to pieces, but I do...

The Tuson DirecLink Base Model Trailer Brake Controller part # 335DL-100 is an excellent top of the line option for a 2006 Chevrolet Silevrado 3500. It is a proportional brake controller which means it senses the deceleration of the tow vehicle and then applies a corresponding voltage to the trailer brakes. That said, this feature is controlled by an internal inertia sensor not a pressure transducer like your existing brake controller uses. The vast majority of electric trailer brake controllers...
