Video Transcript for Swagman Bike Racks Ramp and Bridge Review

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we've been checking out the Swagman add-on ramp and bridge. So this is gonna go on the current, the G 10 and the east back bike racks and it's gonna be a way to get your bike up and on the bike rack without having to lift it up. Let's check it out. Right away, let's use the ramp. So we're gonna walk the e-bike up the ramp and you see halfway here through no bending or anything or movement in the ramp.

So I like that it can hold up to 80 pounds and you can tell by running the bike up there, it doesn't flex as you do so. So just push it on up. I suggest holding the handlebar with one hand and maybe putting the hand behind the seat and pushing up there just makes it easier. Also, removing the hooks is helpful. Now the front tire is on.

What's the bridge I'll walk it back a little bit to show you. So we rolled off the cradle onto the bridge pretty easily. I didn't have to lift it at all to get it up here. Now you might have to lift it a little bit at this point to set it in the front cradle. Get in place.

Then you just add your hooks back into place. (clamping sounds) Strap down your bike as normal. So that did make it easier to walk it up the ramp especially on this portion with the smaller cradles on the newer models, it'll roll right off that onto the bridge. Only here do we have to lift it up and set it into place. The ramp attaches right here at the end of the bike rack.

You don't have to add any hardware or anything or permanently mount it. You got the opening here that has the grommet that's gonna help it attach even covered up here so you don't have to worry about the metal just making metal contact here or on the other side on the ground. So I would suggest just setting the place underneath the cradle. Let it go down like this. Now it's on there, you see as I push it back and forth. Sure it moves down here but it's in no danger of slipping off and falling which I think is important. Then you can also adjust the length of the ramp. So I got these hand knobs underneath, so if you wanted to collapse it all the way for storage, you could do it, and you see it's not gonna work like this, so you just extend it out for whatever terrain you're on. So get all the way down to the ground. Looks good there. Tie them back up and that's as easy it is. This is gonna be the bridge portion that's gonna be the same durable metal as the ramp. It attaches on the bars. You just slide it over top. I'm gonna show you back here, you just set it on the bars, slides down in the place. You see it's got the cutout to go around the handle here or if you put it up front you'd want it facing towards the center mast. So that's out of the way. Sits there, works really well. That's a bridge when you roll the bike out there. I would suggest taking off though when you go to move. Now when it comes time to storing it you have the tabs here, the slots line up of the tabs, set it in place, both ends like that, that all collapses together. It's gonna be easy to store inside your vehicle. Overall I do like the addition of the ramp. I like how heavy duty it is compared to some of the other bike racks that come with ramps. I'm taking the OnRamp as more of a plastic type ramp, which that's fine but it is very rigid and you can't adjust it. Then you have the Thule EasyFold. That one isn't as structurally sound as you run the bike up there just because it has those folding points in there. So I like this one 'cause the one solid piece of metal that you can still adjust and trust when you're bringing the bike back up it. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped.

Ramp nicely fits on the rack and stores away easily. Greatly helps the process of putting the ebike on the rack with minimal effort.

Great accessory for my Swagman eBike rack. Makes loading a heavy bike much easier!

by:

Works okay but still hard to bridge the gap between the wheel cups. But, it does work and makes it possible to load the bikes by myself.

by:

Is exactly as advertised. We have not yet used if for the season, so might follow up after use.

by:

Fits on rack securely. Very sturdy. Have to take off the bike hooks while putting bike on rack, but no big deal

Solid, well built ramp. Easy to us.

Worked as expected.

Delivery was fast - product works as stated and very helpful in placing 2 e-bikes on Swagman bike rack.

by:

Works well. It should come with the bike rack instead of being an add on though.

by:

The bridge is useless.

  • Recommended Swagman Bike Rack for E-Bikes with Easy Bike Loading
I have attached a list for you below with all of our Swagman platform style bikes racks. If you have e-bikes, the two options you should be considering are the Swagman Current Bike Rack part # S64678 and Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack part # S94FR. The Current has a 60 lb per bike weight capacity and the E-Spec has a 70 lb per bike weight capacity. • Recommended Ramp for Loading E-Bikes on Swagman Bike Rack
I do have an option for you but the only ramp available for a Swagman Bike Rack is the Swagman Ramp and Bridge for Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 Bike Racks part # S32YR. This ramp only works on Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 models so if you have any other model it will not fit. In which case, our only option would be to offer you a new rack which can accept this ramp. • Can Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack be Used on Class B Motorhome
To determine whether or not the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR can safely be used on your Class B motorhome you just need to measure from the center of your rearmost axle to the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch receiver. If this is 72" or greater, then your motorhome is considered a motorhome and you need to abide by the lowered weight rating. For a bike rack that doesn't have these types of restrictions and can have a ramp added on I recommend the Swagman E-Spec: - Swagman E-Spec #...

The Saris Door County Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # SAR42RR is the only lift bike rack we have but it isn't rated for use on an RV. Instead the next best thing we have is the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR which can be paired with the Ramp and Bridge # S32YR to make it easier to load your heavy bikes onto the rack. The E-Spec is compatible with any type of RV (towable or a motorhome) as long as you use the included bolt as opposed to the pin and clip.

  • Hitch Adapter and Bike Rack Recommendation for E-Bike and Flat Towing
To replace your Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-8 I recommend using this replacement shank from Gen-Y: - Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-404 I like this option because it's more heavy-duty than pretty much every other adapter, plus it has a receiver above the shank so your bike rack will be at a higher location for better clearance. Then for a bike rack I recommend using the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR and then using the Swagman Ramp and Bridge # S32YR to...
