Video Transcript for Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack Loading Ramp Review

The Yakima RampUp is a very cool addition to your Yakima StageTwo. This is gonna help you get the heavier bikes or just your normal bikes up and loaded onto the carrier. After a long ride, you're usually pretty gassed, but also if you just have a heavy e-bike since the StageTwo can handle the heavy e-bikes, this is gonna be a great way to do it. The ramp is just gonna make it a lot easier to make the whole entire experience a little bit better. I like what we did down here. There's not a big jump from the ground to here.

It's a very gradual slope. And the width of it is about four inches, but what I do like about this ramp compared to some of the others is it's not like a bowl. It does have these hard edges because a lot of the times your tire tries to kind of walk off to the side. So having these ray sides, which are about an inch tall, really helps keep that tire inside the ramp. The ramp is pretty long.

When it's completely extended, the length of it's gonna be 65 and a quarter inches, but we can take it out of this little groove spot. And if you flip it over, we have these knobs here. What we have to do is take the knobs off both sides. And these are metal knobs, which I like, so they're not gonna strip out or anything. And then, it'll condense down to right here, which the measurement of this right here at the smallest point it's gonna be 38 and three quarters of an inch.

We can take the knobs, screw 'em back on, and then we can store this in the back. So if you have a trunk, it's gonna fit in that. If you have a back hatch, it's definitely gonna fit in there. And it can even fit underneath some of your seats. There are some bike racks that have a ramp that stays on the bike rack, but those aren't near as long as this one.

I think having a longer rack for a taller vehicle is almost essential just because this is around the same size as the Thule EasyFold ramp, which is kind of not really usable. You're gonna have to still use a decent amount of force to get it up there, so it being a very long ramp is very, very nice. The length is also gonna come in handy just because we have a stadium style bike rack, meaning every single cradle's gonna be a little bit taller than the one closer to the vehicle. So if you have the two bike version of the StageTwo, you can use it on both. So just notice where the arm is. It's gonna be on the opposite end of that. But if you do have the four bike version, the length is gonna be really nice to extend out just because it starts getting higher and higher. So for every single bike that you have on this rack, we can use the ramp to help load us. At the end of the day, whatever makes the whole entire activity a little bit easier is something that I kind of look for. This is a nice bike rack, and this is a nice little addition to it, just to get those heavier bikes off and on a little bit easier. And that's pretty much it for our look at the Yakima Ramp for your Yakima StageTwo bike rack..

Need to adapt to the rack I am using it on. Good quality and quick shipping.

I have had Thule, Hollywood, and Saris and the Yakima is the easiest , lightest and holds the bike the best. The connection to the hitch is very firm. The latches that hold the tires and the frame are easy and quick to place on. The ramp makes even a heavy bike easy to get on.

by:

delivery prompt..these are to aid in balancing rv, and have yet to be used, but certainly going with us on next trip as construction, stackability and quality make these an easy choice.

  • How to Install Yakima StageTwo and Ramp for Loading Heavy e-Bike
The Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # Y47VR is a wonderful new option from Yakima that can handle up to 2 bikes weighing 60 lbs each and you can definitely get the Loading Ramp # Y39VR to make loading/unloading much easier. We currently (March 2022) don't have a video of these 2 parts together but I'm linking the instructions for the ramp as well as a clip for you to check out. Basically there is a slit at the rear-tire-end of each tray that the hooks of this ramp fit into and keep...

  • Can Discontinued Yakima DR Tray Bike Rack Be Used With A Ramp?
The now discontinued Yakima DR tray bike rack you have is not compatible with a ramp, and cannot use a ramp due to having no way for one to attach. If you're handy you can probably DIY something with materials from a local hardware store, but if not the only way to use a ramp would be replacing the rack completely with a newer model like the StageTwo # Y47VR which can use a ramp # Y39VR.

  • Why Is The RV Per Bike Weight Capacity Lower For The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack
The suspension of an RV is much less sophisticated than a standard vehicle so it places more stress on the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR. Because of the additional wear and tear on the bike rack testing has shown that adding more than 40lbs can damage the rack, leading to damage of the e-bikes. The Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # Y47VR is rated for RV use and has a 60lb per bike capacity when used on an RV. It mounts via the wheels using a strap and ratcheting arm so if you have front...

  • Recommended 2-Bike Rack That Can be Used with a Loading Ramp
No there is not unfortunately. We do have plenty of other awesome choices that do offer a loading ramp however the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # RKY10007-05 is not one of them. Instead, I recommend checking out the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y87VR. This bike rack is competitively priced with the RockyMounts MonoRail however not only is there a ramp available # Y39VR, but this rack has a higher per-bike capacity at 70-lbs per bike (when used...

  • Recommended E-Bike Bike Rack For Vehicles, A Motorhome, And A 5th Wheel Trailer
Hey Steve, I recommend the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack - Black # Y47VR or Gray # Y87VR. It is rated for use on all vehicles, fifth wheels, travel trailers, motorhomes, and flat towed vehicles. When on vehicles it has a 70lb per bike rating and when on an RV a 60lb per bike rating. The wheel cradles can fit tires up to 3.25" wide with up to a 52" maximum wheelbase. The loading ramp for this rack is sold separately with part # Y39VR. I've attached a short video below where AJ will go over...

  • Bike Rack With Loading Ramp Compatible With RV Rear 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver
There is not a Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202 rated for use on an RV rear hitch. Instead we do have the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y36FR which also holds the bike in place by frame clamps and has a ramp to assist in loading your bikes. This can be used in the rear 2" trailer hitch receiver on a motorhome, 5th wheel or travel trailer to carry 2 bikes up to 40lbs each. We also have the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack # Y87VR which is able to carry up to 2-60lb bikes behind an RV. While...

  • Will Draw-Tite Hitch Fit a 2021 Porsche Macan S Model
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75940 will fit your 2021 Porsche Macan S. It looks like Draw-Tite recently (December 2021) updated their fit list to include the 2021 model and if you check out the attached clip from the linked instructions you can see that there are provisions for cutting the fascia on the S model. If you are planning on towing with this vehicle then you need wiring like the ZCI Wiring Kit # 119250KIT and a ball mount kit like part # 989900. If the purpose...

  • What is the Best Way to Carry Bikes with a 2021 Tesla Model 3
The absolute best way to carry bikes on any vehicle is with a hitch because you'll have access to more bike rack options, the bike racks will be easier to install, and you'll have an easier time loading up your bikes on a hitch rack as opposed to on your roof or on a trunk mount option. For your 2021 Tesla Model 3 I recommend installing the Stealth Hitches trailer hitch which comes as part # 391TES317 if you plan on only using it for a bike rack, or the part # 391TES317T which includes...
