Versatile E-Bike Rack for Your RV

Swagman Escapee Bike Rack on RV

5th Wheels, motorhomes, and travel trailers have different suspensions than standard commuter vehicles. The Swagman Escapee is designed to handle the extra bounce and sway that results from being placed further away from your vehicle's rear axle. It also gives your bikes 5" higher clearance than most other RV-rated platform racks. The Escapee is constructed with reinforced steel, so it will easily carry 2 e-bikes that weigh up to 60 lbs each. But it's not just for your RV. You can also install it in the 2" hitch on your car, truck, or SUV.

Rotating Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Escapee Bike Rack Adjustable Arms

The Escapee has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel, not the frame. This ensures the paint on your e-bike's frames won't get scratched or scuffed during transport. To load your bikes, simply place your front wheels in the cradles, rotate the arms up and over the wheels, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hooks.

Sliding Rear Wheel Straps

Swagman Escapee Sliding Ratchet Straps

The wheel trays have cradles with ratcheting straps that secure your rear wheel to the rack. The straps slide along the cradles to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Folding Design

Swagmans Escapee Tilt AccessSwagmans Escapee Tilt Pin

If you're using the rack on a passenger vehicle and want the ability to fold it up for storage, you can remove the RV bolt at the back of the hitch bar assembly and replace it with the included pin and clip. In this configuration, you can fold the rack up when you aren't carrying bikes. This means you don't have to remove the rack to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages. You must re-install the RV bolt to use the rack on your RV again.

Easy Installation

Swagmans Skaha Installation

The rack installs with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included tool. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

Complete Security

Swagmans Skaha Locks

The included locks secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. A lock in each release button prevents the ratcheting hooks from being raised, so your bikes can't be removed from the rack. The hitch lock simply snaps onto the hitch pin. The hooks and hitch lock are keyed alike, so you'll only need 1 key for all locks.

Available Loading Ramp

Swagman Skaha Ramp and Bridge

An available telescoping ramp (sold separately) lets you easily roll your heavy e-bikes up and onto the trays so you don't have to lift your bikes onto the rack.

  • Is There a Fat Tiire Adapter for the Swagman Escapee Bike Rack
The Swagman Escapee part # S39SR actually comes with wheel cradles for 5 inch wide tires so there isn't a fat tire adapter for it. Is it possible that you have a different bike rack?

  • Can Loading Ramp Be Used With Swagman Escapee Bike Rack
The Swagman Escapee Bike Rack # S39SR is a great solution for e-bikes that don't utilize a front fender. It doesn't come with a ramp but one can be added on: - Loading Ramp for Swagman Skaha and Escapee Bike Racks # S59SR I really like this ramp because it has a bridge in the middle so you aren't "jumping the gap" when loading your heavier bike. The ramp can also be adjusted from 36-7/16" to 56-9/16" so it will fit a wide variety of applications.

  • E-Bike Rack Recommendation for Travel Trailer to Carry Aventon 500 and Carbon Frame Bike
Hey Dave, so the best option for carrying your carbon frame bike and e-bike is the Swagman Escapee part # S39SR with the ramp # S59SR . It has the capacity for carrying an e-bike, is rated for travel trailer use, only touches the bikes by the tires which protects the carbon frame, and works with the Aventon 500 since it doesn't have fenders. The RV rider that was recommended was probably a good faith recommendation because it is for "RVs" but it's not designed for travel trailers which...

  • Will The Loading Ramp # S59SR Fit With Escapee Bike Rack Without Notches For Ramp?
I reached out to Swagman who verified you are still able to use the Loading Ramp # S59SR with your Escapee Bike Rack # S39SR. They mentioned you will have a bit of a hump to get over when going from the rear wheel carrier to the front wheel carrier.

  • Recommended RV Bike Rack For Two Euphree City Robin X Electric Bikes
The Swagman Escapee RV Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # S39SR checks all your needs except for how it mounts. This rack uses hooks that would sit right where your fenders are so it unfortunately wouldn't work. Instead you'll want the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # S94FR, which mounts to the frame instead. This rack is rated for use on RV's as well and has a 70lb per bike capacity.

  • Does 2" Adapter on Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack Reduce the Durability and Lifespan
In a sense, but not necessarily. The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202 is backed by a limited lifetime warranty so as long as it's used within the parameters of the weight capacities and what it's been tested and approved to work on you shouldn't be seeing any issues. The 2" adapter plays a part in the durability of the rack on an RV but not for normal use. When it comes to the RV rating that's kind of a new animal that bike rack manufacturers are trying to tackle....

  • Thule EasyFold XT Alternative Recommendation to Carry E-Bikes At Back of Travel Trailer
Thule has gone back and forth about the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202 being suitable for use at the back of a travel trailer, but ultimately they've chosen not to give it the okay because they've had reports of the rack becoming damaged due to the exaggerated movement at the back of a trailer. You can technically still use the EasyFold XT on your trailer, but if it becomes damaged then Thule won't consider it a warranty claim. Because of this, I recommend using a rack that's more...

  • E-Bike Rack Recommendation for 2 inch Hitch at Rear of Motorhome
The best solution we have would be the Hollywood Racks RV Rider part # HLY64FR which is rated for use in a 2 inch hitch at the rear of a motorhome, has an 80 lb weight capacity, and uses frame clamps that won't interfere with your fenders and also works with step through frames. The only thing this rack doesn't have is a ramp which unfortunately there isn't a better option that does have one.

  • Why Can't Saris MHS be Used at Rear of 5th Wheel Trailer
RVs in general have a much rougher ride quality than vehicles due to the less sophisticated suspension (mostly trailer) but also the much longer length between the rear axle of the motorhome and the rear bumper. This exaggerates the movement from bumps which puts an additional strain on the bike rack. So fifth wheel trailers have the worse suspension and the increased length to bumper from axle which is why they have the harshest ride quality and the motorhomes only have one element of...

  • E-bike Rack to Transport Specialized Como 3.0 E-Bikes
For a bike like your Specialized Como 3.0 that has as long of fenders as you have you would need to go with a frame mounted e-bike rack. A wheel mount would need to grab the bike right where your fender is to secure it properly. So between the two racks you mentioned the E-Spec part # S94FR would be what you would need instead of the Escapee # S39SR. If you wanted a nicer frame mounted bike rack the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 would be what you would want. This rack even has a ramp...

  • Is The Swagman Escapee S39SR Available As A 4 Bike Rack?
The Swagman Escapee is only available as a two bike rack as part # S39SR. There is no 4 bike version. If you are looking for an RV rated bike rack that can carry 4 bikes, the only options will be hanging style racks such as the Thule Range RV Bike Rack # TH9057. This rack can hold 4 bikes weighing up to 37.5 lbs apiece. So this is a great RV rated option for standard frame bikes like mountain bikes or road bikes. For alternative frame bikes or kids bikes an adapter bar # TH982XT may be...

  • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation to Clear Spare Tire Mounted on a Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier
Great question, David! The Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack # Y47VR requires at least 8-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest part of the spare tire in order for it to fit properly. The center of the hitch pin hole on the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 is about 5-5/8" behind the face of the mounting plate for your spare tire which means your tire can't sit more than 2-7/8" out from the mounting plate in order for you to be able to use the StageTwo. • Bike Rack Recommendation for 42' Travel Trailer with Welded-On Hitch Receiver
The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks # PVP20B is one of my all-time favorite bike rack accessories, but it unfortunately isn't rated for use on a travel trailer so we need to find you a different solution. I recommend checking out the Swagman Escapee RV Bike Rack # S39SR which is compatible with your bikes as long as they don't have a front fender. I really like this rack because it meets a lot of basic necessities while also being able to handle up to 60 lb bikes...
