Today we're going to take a look at the 10 inch by 2 1/4 inch electric brake shoe and lining for the Hays Alco 3,500 pound axle. Now this part will replace the brake shoes on one wheel. These are trailer brake shoes that are for electric trailer brakes and these are specifically designed to fit the Hays Alco 3,500 pound axles. Now these brake shoes are certified by US SAE standards and CSA standards which are the Canadian standards. These are designed to be used with 10 inch drums and just to give you the idea of the dimension, when they say 10 inch by 2 1/4, when these will be installed on your brake assembly, if you measure from this side to this side, the whole diameter. That's going to be the 10 inches. And then the 2 1/4 will be the width of the shoe itself.
So if we put a ruler on the width you can see, 2 1/4 inches. And the other thing to remember is when you do install these shoes that if you look at, there is a front shoe or a primary shoe and a back shoe, rear shoe which is the secondary shoe and that's determined by the length of the pad on the shoe. So if you look at the pad here it goes from here to here. This ones all the way from here to hear, so the longer pad is the secondary shoe. That will always face the rear of the trailer and the shorter pad is the primary shoe. That will always face the front of the trailer.
So when you do install these, you want to make sure to put them in the correct position. But that should do it for the review on the 10 inch by 2 1/4 inch electric brake shoe and lining for the Hays Alco 3,500 pound axle.

Last spring I had to replace the 16 year old brakes on my horse trailer (they were horrible!). Luckily the brand of the old brakes were on the old ones, so it was easy for me to find the appropriate replacement. These fit just right and were easier to install than the drum brakes on a car! So glad they had what I needed! I’ll have to replace the brakes on our stock trailer soon...I’m so happy they have the appropriate parts I’ll need. Will definitely purchase these again when the time comes!
I needed brake shoes for my 1987 Coachman 5th wheel camper. etrailer helped me figure out the size of brake shoe I needed by my measuring my old set and the weight load of the trailer. They quickly sent me a set that I received just in time for my scheduled trip. Thank you etrailer.
Ordered new brake shoes over the weekend, arrived the next week. Well packaged, look just like the original shoes. Thanks!
