  • What is the Application Difference Between the Brake Line Kit # 9505 and # 9579-2
I spoke with my contact at Dexter and he informed me that the Deluxe Hydraulic Line Kit # 9579-2 that you referenced is used for trailers with torsion axles. The Hydraulic Line Kit # 9505 that you referenced is designed for basically any other design axles. So if you have torsion axles you would want the # 9579-2 and if you basically have anything else you would want the # 9505.

  • Surge Brake Coupler Recommendation for 2-5/16 Inch Hitch Balls
If you are looking for just a surge coupler that is designed to work on 2-5/16 inch balls you could use a Titan Zinc-Plated, Adjustable-Channel Brake Actuator # T4747200. This will work with disk brakes, has a capacity of 14,000 lbs and will work on 2-5/16 inch balls. However, we do not have a disk brake kit with a surge coupler kit that is designed for 2-5/16 inch balls. If you need hydraulic lines you would want a Deluxe Hydraulic Line Kit # 9579-2. If you also need hubs/rotors I would...

  • Parts Needed to Add Hydraulic Drum Brakes to Tandem Trailer
We have a FAQ article that covers everything you will need to add hydraulic drum brakes to your trailer. I have linked it for you. There are essentially 5 to 6 components you will need. First, the spindles need to have brake mounting flanges on them. To add flanges, they have to be welded on by a qualified professional that has performed this job before. It takes a special jig to weld the flanges on correctly. I have linked our flanges for you. Welding on flanges will negate the need for...

  • Can a Second Axle be Added to a Single Axle Pontoon Boat Trailer
I would only add an axle if it is really needed. Otherwise you are making more work for yourself than is needed. But if you do add an axle then I recommend making it a true tandem set up for better ride quality and so the 2 axles can work together and not independently. Adding an axle is going to involve taking some measurements and doing a little math. I have included a picture that shows how to determine axle spacing on a trailer build. Once the positioning is figured out you can select...

  • How to Modify Brake Lines for Folding Tongue Boat Trailer
You could the 25 inch long hydraulic brake line with fittings, part # T0980100. You would just need to connect the line to your actuator master cylinder to route brake fluid to your trailer brakes. The fittings are included. We offer the flexible line in a few different lengths as well. For example # T0777300 is 13 inches long.

  • Brake Line Kit Recommendation for a Trailer with Tandem Drum Brakes and a Dexter K71-650 Actuator
To make it easy, you should get a Deluxe Hydraulic Line Kit # 9579-2. This kit was designed for tandem axle trailers with drum brakes like yours and will work with your Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator # K71-650. All the lines in this kit are 3/16 inch. The Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator, # K71-651, is not compatible with the Ford integrated trailer brake controllers. The adapters made for other systems are not designed to be used with the Dexter EOH systems....

  • Brake Line Kit for Tandem Trailer with 10k Axles
The Redline Disc Brake Line kit part # 9579-2 that you referenced would work great with a 10k dually trailer like you have. It has a main feed line of 180 inches so you'd need to make sure that would be correct distance from back of actuator to the axles but aside from that this would come with everything standard that you would need.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wheel Jack/Ramp that Isnt Lifting Wheel High Enough
The Trailer Aid you have now is similar to our Andersen Rapid Jack part # AM3620 which is used to easily jack up a trailer by rolling a good wheel and tire onto it and then having the wheel that needs to be replaced suspended in the air high enough to change it. The Trailer Aid isn't as tall as some of the other similar ramp jacks like this I could see it not being able to get the flat wheel/tire high enough off the ground. Are you fully on the ramp and on level ground? Is the trailer...

  • Parts to Replace Hydraulic Brake System on a 2004 Magic Tilt Trailer
We can definitely get you started with parts for your Magic Tilt Trailer, but we will need some additional information to complete your parts list. We can start with a coupler. Since your boat trailer will not exceed 10,260 lbs, I recommend looking at a coupler like the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes, # T4750620. This coupler has a 3 inch drop like the coupler you referenced, but it has a 12,500 lb weight capacity which is closer to the weight of your trailer. Using...

  • Brake Line Kit for Tandem Axle Disc Brakes
Yes we do. I recommend using part # 9579-2 line kit. If you are installing the kit on a utility trailer or a trailer that has a floor, you can run the lines along the underside of the trailer. If you have a boat trailer, you will need additional flex lines to make the transition between the rigid brake lines at each axle. I recommend using two of part # 80910.

  • Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brake Setup Recommendation for a Tandem Axle Trailer
If you do have 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern wheels you would want to start with two sets of the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R526D. These will work on your 5 bolt mounting flange, have enough capacity as they are for 5,200 and 6,000 lb axles. I would strongly recommend you determine your bolt pattern before you buy anything though. Check out the FAQ article I attached on determining bolt patterns. For an actuator setup I would recommend the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic...

  • Replacement Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for a Tandem Axle 2002 Continental Trailer
Brake line kit # 9505 would be a good start but I recommend the deluxe kit # 9579-2 because you will get more lines and accessories that you will need. You may find that even with the deluxe kit you might need some additional steel brake line. If this is the case you can get brake line from an auto parts store. It will work on trailers as well.

  • Brake Lines and Fittings for electric Over Hydraulic Brakes on a 40 Foot Tandem Axle Trailer
Basically you will run the lines back and T-off where needed. A kit like # 9579-2 would work though you may need to add additional brake line (available and auto parts stores) to complete the installation. I have included a picture that shows a basic set up. A system with 1,000 psi is fine for drum brake applications. Since some pressure is always present in the wheel cylinders in drum brakes, larger psi capacities are not needed. I have included a link to the drum brake electric over...

  • Parts Needed for Disc Brake Conversion on Take 3 Auto Transport Trailer with Three 7,000-Lb Axles
I looked up the Take 3 auto transport trailer and it showed it has electric brakes. To convert your electric brakes to disc brakes you will need to use the disc brake conversion kits for 7,000-lb axles with the hub and rotor, hydraulic line kits for three axles, electric over hydraulic actuator, trailer breakaway kit, and a brake controller that is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes. The disc brake conversion kits will come in pairs, so you will need three sets. These kits...

  • Recommended Electric Over Hydraulic Conversion for Dutchmen Voltage 3818 Toy Hauler Triple Axle
We do have the ability to convert your Dutchmen Voltage 3818 to Electric over Hydraulic brakes. First you will want the brake assemblies and for those, I recommend the Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 5.5K to 7K # AKFBBRK-7 (one kit per axle). Then you will need brake lines like the Deluxe Hydraulic Line Kit - Tandem Axle - Drum # 9579-2 along with the Hydraulic Line Kit, 3rd Axle - Drum and Disc # 9579-01. Then I recommend the HydraStar...

  • Parts Needed To Replace Hydraulic Braking System On Boat Trailer
Hydraulic systems are preferred on boat trailers because water and electricity do not mix well. The hydraulic surge brake system is self contained on the trailer and the only connection to the vehicle is the reverse lockout switch that is powered through the trailer connector. This switch keeps the surge coupler from locking the brakes on the trailer when you are backing up. I know that you told me that your boat weighs 6k, however I need your help to identify the axle so we can select...

  • What is the Difference Between Dual Axle and Tandem Axle Trailers
If your 1999 Escort Trailer does have two axles or dual axles then it is a tandem trailer. All tandem means is that there are two axles. The Dexter Deluxe Hydraulic Line Kit # 9579-2 that you referenced is designed to fit a tandem axle trailer so you should be fine. I have linked the brake product page so you can pick the correct brake line kit for your application.
