Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the Dometic holding tank monitors. So this is going to be an easy to read monitoring system to make sure that your tank doesn't overflow. That way you'll be able to know beforehand with this indicator, it's just going to be a little float that we're going to put the top of our tank, so as that water level rises, it's going to go up and that will send a signal to the panel to indicate to us that our tank is full. Whenever that happens, this little square here is going to light up and then we'll know that it's time to empty out that tank. It comes with the float and the monitor. It's going to have a little backing plate that goes over that to mount this in place and the hardware to do that. So we'll have our four small screws, which are going to attach to this little backing plate and then you snap the monitor over the top of that.
We'll have three wires to connect here. We have our power and ground and then also a connection to the wire coming from our float. This will also need to have a connection to power. It does come with instructions on how to do all that, how to wire everything, and it can operate off of 12 volt or 24 volt DC power. It is made in the USA. The probe installs into a one and a quarter inch diameter opening on your holding tank, so you might need to get a whole saw to do that if you don't already have a one and a quarter inch opening.
As far as the size of that little monitoring piece, from side to side, it's about three and a quarter inch across by about two inches, and then just about a half inch deep. It's made in the USA and comes with a one year limited warranty from Dometic. That's going to do it for our look at the Dometic holding tank monitor. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right piece for you. I think it's definitely a good idea to make sure that tank doesn't overflow.
