Today we're going to take a look at the Dexter 12 1/4" right hand passenger side electric brake assembly for 7,200 pound axle. Electric brakes are easier to install. They offer more user control than hydraulic brakes. Basically they just require only an electric brake controller. We do sell those separately on our website. There's no actuator or hydraulic lines necessary with electric brakes. Now this assembly is manual adjustment.
Basically right now here is your adjustment gear so you just turn that to adjust your brakes in or out. Now, because it's manual adjustment it does require periodic manual adjustment. This part includes the right hand passenger side brake assembly. The mounting bolts and the hardware are sold separately. We do have that listed on our website also. Dimension on this assembly is 12 1/4" diameter by 2 1/2" wide.
The diameter would be measured from this brake shoe all the way over to this brake shoe. If we do the diameter it's 12 1/4". The width, 2 1/2" would be the width of the pad on the brake shoe. So there's your 2 1/2" wide. Now this does use a brake mounting flange bolt pattern of four bolts, so right here you can see the four bolt holes that they attach to. It does require the use of 12 1/4" brake drums and the wheel size used on this assembly is 15" or larger.
Again, the axle it's designed for is the 7,200 pound axle rating. Now these are electric brakes. You can see the two wires right here. These are designed one connects to the brake feed and the other goes to a good, clean ground and they're both red wires so either wire can be used for either function. This is a right hand design for the passenger side, and the easiest way to tell that .. Now, in a new assembly, of course, you'll have a sticker that'll tell that, but if the sticker wasn't there the easiest way is to look at the length of the pad on the brake shoe.
This pad is from here all the way to here. This one is just from here to here. This is the shorter pad. The shorter pad is your primary shoe. That will always face the front of the trailer, so that will tell you that this is the right hand passenger side brake assembly. But that should do it for the review on the Dexter 12 1/4" right hand passenger side brake assembly for 7,200 pound axle.
