I installed this in my 2003 dodge caravan 3.3liter, for monitoring tranny temp while towing. It's a simple and cheap way to add a transmission temp gauge. Has worked well for a year with no leaks. Be very careful where you drill the hole in the transmission pan, to make sure there is adequate clearance inside the transmission for the bolt head! (Design would be improved greatly with thinner metal there).
A good product, overall.

It appears to be well made. Having it installed thid coming week. Hope all goes well so I will be able to drain my transmission fluid on a regurlar basis without removing the pan.

I used this to install a transmission temperature sensor for a Dodge Caravan. I am very happy with the results. No leaks 6 months later and was easy to install. Could be better two ways:the parts that goes inside the transmission should be machined like a bolt head with a hole in it, and both nuts should be lock nut type, my concern being future leaks. Be careful where you drill the hole in your transmission pan, make sure there in enough clearance between the parts and the transmission!

  • How To Install The Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit for Transmission Pan Coolers # D13010
The Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit for Transmission Pan Coolers, part # D13010, does not require any welding. It will replace your existing drain plug. It is installed on your transmission pan cooler by inserting the adapter, with the nylon washer installed, in to the hole on your transmission cooler. Then, it would be tightened down to the transmission pan with the jam nut. See the picture to the right that will show how it is installed. With the drain plug kit installed you can then...

  • Installing a Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit on a 2012 Ram 2500
I recommend installing the Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit # D13010 on your 2012 Ram 2500 transmission oil pan where it protected from any road debris. As with any drain plug you will want it on the lowest portion of the pan away from anything that can hit the bolt and reduce the risk of it loosening on you. The Derale Temperature Gauge Kit # D13009 will allow you to monitor the temperature of the transmission fluid in the pan while you drive. I do recommend using Loctite Threadlocker...

  • Transmission Fluid Temperature Gauge and Cooler Recommendation for a 2013 Dodge Caravan
For a temperature gauge you could use to monitor the temperature of the transmission fluid in your 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan I would recommend the # D13009 for a mechanical gauge. This will require you to drill into the transmission pan to install the fitting and sending unit. I attached a picture that shows how it installs on a transmission fluid pan. For a transmission cooler to help reduce the temperature of the tranny fluid you could use the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission...

  • Can a New Hole be Drilled for the Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit # D13010
Yes, you can drill your own hole in the side of your transmission pan to install the Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit, # D13010. You would want to use a 1/2 inch drill bit and make sure you are drilling in a location that would not damage anything inside the pan.

  • Best Way to Tap Into The Factory Transmission Pan on a 2012 Ford F-150
The mounting hole size for the Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit for Transmission Pan Coolers part # D13010 is 1/2" and the inlet thread size is 1/8". If you are looking to install a sending unit on an aluminum transmission pan, I recommend using the Derale 3/8" NPT Female Aluminum Weld Bung part # D98002 and having a professional certified welder tig weld the bung on for you. From here you can then use a NPT 3/8" to 5/16" reducer to work with your sending unit. Don't forget to use Loctite...
