Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this Derale magnetic drain plug kit. This kit is going to include both your drain plug here that's got a half inch by 20 thread on it, and it will thread right into your transmission fluid tray. Then it also has this rubber and steel washer to help create a nice closure there to make sure that your fluids aren't going to drain out until you're ready to.This is magnetic, so the end here has got a magnetic tip to it. The idea behind that is that having this up in your transmission fluid pan, that will attract any particles, metal flakes, that sort of thing that are in your fluid, help to get those stuck to the plug, so they're not making their way into your engine. There are mixed reviews as to how much good that's going to do for you.Some people say that it's really not going to collect a whole lot, but of course, anything is better than nothing, so having that on there is a benefit.
Other people have said that they mainly use it just to keep their plug connected to their vehicles so they don't lose it as they're changing out their fluids. Some of the other magnetic drain plugs I looked at were shorter than what I liked. Theses were the same length as my factory drain plug with a 9/16 head. I use them for oil pan drain plugs on my 95 and older GM trucks as well as trans pan drain plugs.
Great customer service. Next time I will buy here first, instead of searching the web.
