Today we're going to take a look at the replacement base assembly for the Demco Recon gooseneck to fifth wheel trailer hitch adapter as the 21,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this part will replace the base assembly that's on your Demco Recon gooseneck to fifth wheel trailer hitch adapter. That adapter we do sell separately on our website as part number DM8550046, and basically that adapter will include this base assembly and then the fifth wheel hitch head that installs onto the yoke of this assembly. Just remove this large one-inch diameter pin, put your hitch head in there, slide that through there, and hold it into place.You can see this has a nice sturdy steel construction, has a nice rust resistant black powder coat finish on it, and to install this it's a very quick, simple installation. Down here at the bottom you can see this pin and then a clip on the other side.
If you pull the clip, slide this pin out, that'll allow you to drop it onto the gooseneck ball of your recessed gooseneck hitch. Once it drops over the ball, slide your pin back through, clip it, and it's hooked on ready to go.This does offer three hitch high settings to fit your application. And the hitch height is always measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head when it's installed on this and your hitch height settings on this will be anywhere from 15 1/2 inches, 17 1/4 inches and 18 inches. So basically what it will do, is you just slide this up or down, and then you have the holes in the side that this large pin will go through, and then you clip it to whatever hitch height you need for your application. This part is made in the USA.
Application for this again is flatbed truck beds that have the 2 5/16 diameter recess, gooseneck hitch ball. Gross towing weight capacity is 21,000 pounds, and the vertical load limit is 5,250 pounds. It does come with this nice operator's manual that'll describe how this all installs. Installs on the ball of your gooseneck hitch.This review is for etrailer, not the product i received, as I have not installed and used it yet. I ordered the hitch. One box arrived and then I was notified by ups that the other box was damaged. I contacted etrailer and they immediately shipped out a new part. No questions asked. I got it three days later. I couldn’t ask for better service. I will continue to order through etrailer! Thank you!

Item was ordered(Monday), shipped(same day) and arrived (Wednesday)as promised by James J, he was great and helped resolve an issue I had while placing my order online. We were glad I’m arrived in a timely manner because we were scheduled to pick up our new 5th wheel that Saturday. However, the larger box was damaged at some point during transit and wasn’t until we opened the package and identified every piece that we noticed it was missing a vital part. The .50x4.00 bent pin that secures to goose neck in my bed.
It was Thursday morning and I called James back directly and left a voicemail, waited an hour and a half with no response, not his fault he was off; but didn’t wait and called main line immediately for help. Spoke with Matthew and he found exactly what I needed and was able to send it right away, he also spoke with James about the situation when he returned to work, and I was glad to know that the guys at etrailer have great communication, and customer service when addressing and keeping me informed.
Unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time but we were still able to get our 5th wheel last Saturday (4/8).
