Video Transcript for Review of Demco Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal 5th Wheel Install Kit - DM8552009-71

Hello neighbors. Welcome back. I'm Steven here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look together at our Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and the Universal Mounting Kit for your Fifth Wheel Hitches. Now folks, this installation kit will let you mount your Demco Premier Series Fifth Wheel Trailer hitch in the bed of your truck, but it also works with B&W, Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky and Reese Fifth Wheels as well, and the valley above-bed fifth wheel trailer hitches. Now folks, the mounting brackets, these L-shaped brackets here, they are gonna install beneath the bed of your truck.

They're gonna provide a nice attachment point for the above-bed base rail themselves. Now you will get all the included hardware that you see before you. There's lots of spacer blocks here, some other spacer blocks, the nuts, bolt, lock washers, and you even get this fish wire guy. And if you've never seen one of these, they're pretty nifty. Basically, you will route this through the frame and you would simply thread on a bolt to it just like so.

So that guy's hanging on there, he is not going nowhere. You would unwind this. I'm gonna leave it coiled up now just 'cause they're kind of hard to get back together. But you would fish it through, I don't know, let's say there's a hole in the frame. You'd fish that wire through and then you'd be able to pull that bolt through the hole up and through from even, I wanna say, at least two feet away sometimes.

So pretty impressive the way this fish wire works and you just simply unscrew the bolt to get the fish wire back off. So again, pretty simple operation. Everything here is a nice sturdy, sturdy black powder coated steel finish. It's gonna reduce rust, corrosion, that kind of stuff. And again, you're gonna get two base rails, all the bracketry and hardware included, along with that fish wire as well.

Everything's made here in the USA and it has an amazing five year limited warranty. Well, folks, there's not much more to say about this other than to kind of show you these base rails. If you've ever installed these, you kind of know already what they are. If you haven't, pretty simple. All these rectangular slots in here, those are where the legs of your fifth wheel will put in. And then these side holes here, you would put through like a pin to hold that fifth wheel leg into place on the rails. So keep in mind with base rails, these rails are flat in the bed of your truck, but they are raised a little bit. So it kind of has that same hat channel shape that you see in a lot of beds on trucks. You will have that same rail in the bed of your truck. So just keep that in mind as far as space, height, that kind of stuff. If this kind of kit's not what you're looking for, maybe you want a more sleek, hidden, we do also make those kits and sell them as well. So those are available at etrailer.com as well. Those would be what's called an underbed or a hidden fifth wheel install kit. Well, folks, that's gonna do it for our look today at this Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rail Kit. I'm Steven with etrailer.com. Thank you so much for your time today. Use our fit guide etrailer.com. Enter the year, make, and model. Make sure you're getting the right parts for your vehicle. Have a nice one.

The product, bed rails and kit for 5th wheel hitch were good quality and installed easily enough, but the product was shipped in cardboard and it was heavy and broke through the box and some of the nuts and bolts were missing. Box arrived with big holes in each end. etrailer was good and shipped the missing parts but it cost me several days delay and unnecessary hassle. They just need to figure out how to ship without the box breaking up. Good product, good customer service, not so good shipping.

Made installing my Anderson Ultimate 5th wheel kit a snap! These rails are sturdy and well-made and will probably outlast the truck (which is still going strong at nearly 300,000 miles). I can tow my Bigfoot 5th wheel with ease and confidence.

There was an issue with the address on our debit card so payment in our order didn’t complete, we received a personal email (not just one of those automated ones) regarding the matter, when i called to correct the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our package came right on time for instal!

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Base Rails for 1995 Toyota T100 Pickup
The correct replacement installation hardware and bracket kit for your Reese 10 bolt rails is the part # RP30439. This kit is intended for the Universal Base Rails # RP30035. With this in mind, the Reese Universal Base Rail - 10 Bolt Kit is actually not confirmed to fit your 1995 Toyota T100. For 5th Wheel Base Rails that are confirmed to fit, I instead recommend looking at the Demco Rails # DM8552009-71. This kit will include the base rails, brackets and all the hardware needed for installation....

  • Installing Universal 5th Wheel Base Rails in a 2002 Toyota Tacoma
I do have an option for you to use a 5th wheel hitch in the bed of your 2002 Toyota Tacoma, but unfortunately there are no base rails from Reese that fit your Tacoma since it does not have the 8 foot bed. The instructions for part # RP30035-197 which fit an 8 foot bed specifically say it will only fit the 8 foot bed. We have the Demco Hijacker Universal Base Rail Kit # DM8552009-71 as well as the Husky Universal Base Rail Kit # HT31563-686 which are confirmed to fir your 2002 Tundra short...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2001 Dodge Ram 1500
To determine the best 5th wheel hitch for your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, you need the gross vehicle weight rating of your trailer. This will determine the weight rating you need for your 5th wheel hitch. For example, if your trailer comes in under 18,000 lbs, I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550034 and Installation Kit # DM8552009-71. This fifth wheel hitch features Demco's Autoslide, which makes turning corners easier by automatically sliding the head assembly...

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 Long Bed
Either of the rail kits you referenced would work well in your 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with an 8 foot bed. You should note that while these rail kits are listed as custom fit kits they will install more like a universal one as the L-brackets are the same as the universal kits. Because of that I would go with the Reese universal rail kit part # RP30035 as it has the best price and would work well with your Curt hitch. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • What 5TH Wheel Rail Kit Is Needed For a 1994 Chevy K3500 To Use Demco Hijacker FWH 24 PA 5TH Wheel?
The Hijacker FWH 24 PA identifies the 5th wheel hitch head but not the rails it is mounted to. It will require either the standard above bed ISR Rail Kit # DM8552009-71 or the SL Rails # DM6012 with Mounts # DM8553009 for your 1994 Chevrolet K3500. The ISR rails allow the hitch to drop into the rails and are pinned to the rails. The SL rails allows the hitch to slide under the lip on the rails. For your 2002 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 short bed the installation kit you will need is # DM8552009-71. • What is the Maximum Towing Capacity for a 1993 Chevy C/K 3500 with 7.4 Liter Motor
I will be happy to help sort all this out. The maximum gross trailer weight for a 1993 Chevy 3500 series truck with the 7.4 liter (454) motor is 10,000 pounds. Everything else is lower. It depends on a few other factors such as if it is a 2x4 or 4x4, cab style, bed length. This information is straight from a GM document that covered all the capacities for all of their trucks for the 1993 model year. So, now all we have to do is figure out exactly what your truck is rated for and then you...

We do have Demco Autosliding 5th wheel hitches for your 2006 Chevy Silverado with the short bed but the Demco Hijacker # DM8550038 that you referenced is designed to fit the unique puck system found on Ford pickups. For a 1500 that is not a Flareside or Stepside then you can use the Universal Base Rail Kit # DM8552009-71 to use the 18K # DM8550034 or 21K # DM8550035 Demco Hijacker. • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 5-1/2 ft Bed
For your truck bed that is 5-1/2 feet long there is only one slider hitch that would have enough clearance to allow you to make tight turns. For that you would need the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550040. This will automatically slide back 22-1/2 inches and would work well. For rails you would need the custom install kit part # DM8552009-71. This is a custom install kit that minimizes drilling and install time over universal kit.

I contacted Demco and was advised that the DSP hitches are rarely used anymore. The rails for the DSP hitches are not compatible with any other type of hitch. If you are looking for a replacement hitch I have added a link to the compatible hitches for your 2005 GMC sierra 1500 HD. Since Valley went out of business there are no underbed systems of replacement legs available for you to convert it to fit in-bed base rails. For your 2001 Dodge Ram with a 6 foot bed it is recommended to use a sliding 5th wheel hitch as that will give you the clearance that you need to avoid hitting the cab on your truck when making tight turns. If you are wanting to go with a hitch that is under the bed of your truck then I recommend the B&W Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1394-5W....

There are a couple of Demco HiJacker autoslide 5th wheel trailer hitches. One fits above the bed rails and one fits below the bed rails. The benefit of the below the bed rails is that when the hitch is removed the bed is essentially clear for cargo. I can give you recommendations for both. I looked up the specs on your Open Road Roamer 337RLS. It is 100 inches wide. This means that in order to be able to make 90 degree turns without hitting the truck cab and trailer together you would need to have 54 inches from the back of the truck cab to the hitch centerline. By my rough estimate the distance from the back of the cab to the hitch centerline plus 12 inches of trailer for a slider hitch would be 50 inches which is too short to safely make 90 degree turns.
