CURT Accessories and Parts - C16000

  • Gooseneck Hitch
  • Safety Chain Loops
  • CURT

This pair of safety-chain brackets attaches easily to your Curt, Reese, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Valley or Husky fifth-wheel base rails. Black powder coat finish resists rust.

Features:

  • Provide attachment points for trailer safety chains
  • Mount to most Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky 5th-wheel base rails
  • Can be used with above-bed gooseneck hitches that attach to 5th-wheel base rails
  • Secure with pins and clips
  • Resist corrosion with black powder coat finish
  • Includes 2 safety-chain loops with pins and clips

Specs:

  • Dimensions: 5-3/4" long x 3-5/8" wide x 3-5/16" tall
  • Capacity: 20,000 lbs

Note: Some state laws require that safety-chain loops be attached to points independent of the ball or coupler. This is of particular note if you have a gooseneck trailer hitch with built-in safety-chain loops. Because those loops are attached to the hitch itself, additional safety-chain hookup points are required. If you have a gooseneck hitch that mounts to standard fifth-wheel base rails, the Curt safety-chain brackets will satisfy this state requirement.

Washington and New York have these laws in place. Check with your state's Department of Transportation to determine the requirements for your area.

  • Recommended Cost Effective 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Hitch Setup for a 2003 Ford F-250 Short Bed
If you're looking for a budget fifth wheel and gooseneck hitch setup for a 2003 Ford F-250 I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30051 which is one of the most effective dual jaw hitches. The dual jaws will provide a much smoother ride than a slide-bar. In regards to mounting, I'd recommend a custom kit which is going to be much easier to install and would not require drilling into the frame. The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16443-204 is a good option...

  • Curt 5th Wheel Rails to Offset Gooseneck Ball Adapter With Reese Goose Box
Yes, the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # 16055 can be used with a Reese Goose Box # RP85FR. Be aware that the gooseneck ball will sit a couple inches higher that a typical bed mounted gooseneck ball. I recommend using a set of Fifth Wheel Rail Sound Dampeners # 16900 as well as Curt Safety-Chain Loops # C16000 with the hitch adapter. This will help quiet a bit of the noise and give you an easy location to connect your safety chains.

  • Is Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM Prep Package Compatible With Curt Spyder and 16055
Yes, the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 25,000 lbs part # RP30154 is compatible with both the Curt Spyder part # 16085 but not the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails part # 16055. The Reese adapter will give you industry standard fifth wheel rails in your bed by attaching to the puck system but the gooseneck plate peg spacing will not fit into the holes of the adapter. For this reason, I recommend to use the Curt Spyder...

  • Can the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Part # 16055 Install Both Ways
Yes, the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails part # 16055 can be installed where the offset is closest to the cab or where the offset is closest to the tailgate. In order to reduce rattling, I strongly recommend using the Fifth Wheel Rail Sound Dampeners part # 16900 between the gooseneck hitch and base rails. You may also want to consider using the Curt Safety-Chain Loops for Gooseneck Hitches on 5th Wheel Rails part # C16000 as some states require that safety...

  • How to Connect Gooseneck Safety Chains to Trucks w/out Safety Chain Loops
There are a couple of options to hook up the chains on the Andersen Ultimate Safety Chain Kit item # RM3230. If you do not have a set of rails you'll want to use the Gooseneck Anchor Plate item # C65NR. This installs below your gooseneck ball. If you have a set of base rails you'll need to get the Safety-Chain Loops for Gooseneck Hitches on 5th Wheel Rails item # C16000.

  • Are Safety Chains Needed For Curt CrossWing 5th Wheel Hitch C86JR
While not required as it is a 5th wheel hitch, safety chains are always a good idea, including for the Curt CrossWing Lightweight 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C86JR. There are even specific chains and mounts for the CrossWing, the Curt Safety-Chain Loops # C16000 with Safety Chains and Rail Anchors for Curt Crosswing 5th Wheel # C35NR.

  • How Does Andersen Hitch Safety Chains Attach to Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel Connection
The safety chains for # AM3200 are # RM3230. The two eyelet bolts included with the safety chains will replace the king pin coupler bolts that ship with the Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection. The other ends with the hooks will need to attach to the 5th wheel rails using safety chain loops such as # C16000.

  • Gooseneck Hitch for 2016 Ram 2500 with In-Bed Factory Fifth Wheel Pucks
To use your fifth wheel pucks for a gooseneck hitch is possible by using an adapter like # RP30154 to provide rails , an adapter like # 16085 and safety chain mounts, part # C16000. This would allow you to pull a gooseneck trailer without installing an underbed hitch, but it's more expensive than installing a hitch like the Curt # C60614 hitch, which will install on the existing cross member under the bed. If you don't already have an in-bed 7-way trailer connector, you can install one...

  • Are Safety Chains Required with Andersen Ultimate # AM3200
It's kind of a gray area whether safety chains are required with the # AM3200 but I would say it's a smart idea either way.

Yes, the Curt Safety-Chain Loops for Gooseneck Hitches on 5th Wheel Rails # C16000 that you referenced is sold in pairs so the price is for a quantity of 2. Basically everything you see in the attached picture. The same goes for the # RP50223.

  • Safety Chains and Ram Puck System Adapter for an Anderson 5th Wheel Hitch
To attach the Andersen Ultimate item # AM3200 to your 2021 Ram 2500's factory tow package you will need the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch item # C29BR. The Anderson hitch attaches to industry standard rails and this adapter will provide you with them. Anderson hitches do not have the ability to mount inside the factory puck systems so a set up like this will be your only option. You will then need to use the Andersen Ultimate Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks item # RM3230. The...

  • Gooseneck Hitch that Fits in 5th Wheel Rails and Has an Offset
There is a gooseneck plate that has an offset depending on which way you mount it to the rails in the truck. You will want the Curt item # 16055. I also recommend safety chain loops # C16000 because many places do not allow the safety chain loops to attach to the hitch.

  • Curt 3" Offset Above-Bed Gooseneck Compatibility With Curt 5TH Wheel Rails On 2014 Ford F-350
Yes, the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # 16055 will fit the Curt Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit # C16424-204 that you installed in your 2014 Ford F-350. You will not have to make any alterations. The Fifth Wheel Rail Sound Dampeners # 16900 will cut down on the rattle from the plate when you are not hauling. And I do find the Curt Safety-Chain Loops # C16000 are much easier to use for securing the safety chains than the small holes in the gooseneck plate.
