Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Electric Winch BDW20023 Review

Today we're going to review part number BDW20023. This is the Bulldog Snatch Block for use with the Bulldog Powersport Winches. This snatch block is used with the Bulldog ATV and UTV Powersport Winches. This will increase your winches' pulling power by adding in additional anchor point to run your wire rope through. It will also change the direction of our pull without damaging the wire rope. As you can see, it has the quick-opening side plates for easy rope installation.

It has a nice silver zinc-plated finish to help resist rust and corrosion. Now, the breaking strength capacity on this is 8,000 pounds. Working load limit is 3,200 pounds, and it uses a maximum wire rope diameter of five-sixteenths of an inch. Basically, when you use this as another anchor point, what's nice about it is you don't have to try threading your wire rope through here. You just open up both side plates, hook your rope right through here, close it, attach it to your anchor point, and you're ready to go.

Very easy installation. That should do it for the review on part number BDW20023, the Bulldog Snatch Block for use with the Bulldog Powersport Winches. .

Looks like a top-notch product. I'll be using it to redirect a handwinch cable down the center of a ramp, to pull a dolly up or lower it. The easy way it comes apart--so one can quickly thread the cable through--speeds the process of setting it up.

  • Pulley Block Recommendation for Trailer
We have pulley blocks like the # BDW20023 that could be used in your application but you'd have to come up with a way to mount them since we don't have setup designed for your application.

  • Electric Winch for Car Hauler Trailer Carrying 2600-lb Military Jeep
Please refer to the linked article on powered winches and to the linked page to view electric winches suited for use on a car hauler trailer. For a cost-effective option consider the Bulldog # BDW15017, rated for 3400-lbs. This has enough capacity for your rolling load, includes a 45-foot wire rope, mounting plate, roller fairlead and wired remote control. If you want to take some strain off the winch's 1.5-horsepower motor you can add a pulley block # BDW20023. This will increase the...

  • Hand Winch Recommendation for a 5,500 Pound Capacity Single Car Hauler Trailer
You can ask as many questions as you want, no problem! So, first, yes, you can use a pulley block to double the capacity of a winch at half the speed so you will not have to worry about that. With a rolling load though you may not have to. A rolling load, using a 2500 pound winch up as steep a grade as 45 degrees the winch capacity is 3,225 pounds at the first layer or so of wire rope on the drum. At a 26 degree incline you are looking at a capacity of 4,650 pounds. I have included a...

  • Mounting a Winch in a Boat House to Pull a Boat Up a Launch Ramp
I am assuming the boat is on a trailer when stored in the boat house which will make things a lot easier. So basically what you could do is use a winch that can pull/lower the trailer and boat up and down the ramp. To load the boat on the trailer you would need to mount a winch to the trailer. For a winch to mount in the boat house you could just go with a hand winch such as # F143201, which has an automatic brake, with cable # DL24100. If the boat house has AC power then you could use...

  • How to Determine Correct Winch Capacity for Boat Trailer
The general rule for winch capacity relative to boat weight is that if wooden bunks are used the winch should be rated for at least half the boat weight, a 2:1 ratio. If roller bunks like # DL21741 are installed on the trailer this dramatically reduces the winch's work load and a winch rated for 1/3 of the boat weight would usually be sufficient, a 3:1 ratio. The incline angle when winching also affects capacity. Just the same, any product like a winch or jack that is used well below its...

  • Compatibility of Winch Mounted to Class I Hitch Receiver and Decline Slope
I'm with you on your calculations although I'm not a trig expert. The issue is there is nothing that has been tested with a winch on a class I hitch. The Bulldog Winch Hitch Mounted Winch Mounting Plate # BDW20011 is only a fit on 2 inch hitch receivers and there isn't a mount for the smaller 1-1/4 inch receiver. So, then you would need to use a hitch expander like # HTAD that would reduce the tongue weight rating of your hitch by 50% and add more weight as well. So the adapter at 7...
